Not talking about what happened last night "made me happy", right? Actually—no. I hate pity. Especially from my family. So it’s better to leave last night’s events buried.
I wasn’t feeling great today, mostly because I had spent most of last night crying. School was boring as always, and being Thursday meant it started with my worst subject: math. And of course, it had two periods.
This was the second period, and all I could think about was the lunch bell. I couldn’t wait for it to finally ring so I could leave this pointless class and eat something real.
The bell finally sounded. Remy was already exhausted; the moment it rang she grabbed my arm and dragged me toward the cafeteria. We moved slowly, but Ketlyn soon joined us. She asked how I was doing, and I told her I was “better.”
We reached the cafeteria and I sat down while Remy went to get lunch for me.
“What the f**k…!” someone yelled, and suddenly the entire cafeteria was watching. I turned to see chaos unfolding.
Remy had accidentally spilled her drink on Sophia. And Sophia—who was absolutely not happy, was furious. Remy started apologizing right away, tiny voice shaking, but Sophia wasn’t listening.
Remy was always calm and soft-spoken, but right now she looked terrified. My stomach twisted even more when Ashton, Remy’s long-time crush, walked into the crowd. She went weak, like she always did around him. I hated it, and I used to tease her about it a lot… until now.
Sophia wasn’t done.
“Clean it off!” she demanded, glaring at Remy.
But the spill was only on her shoe.
Remy tried to apologize again, saying she didn’t have anything to clean it with. Sophia didn’t care.
“I don’t care! Lick it off if you must! I want it off!” Sophia screamed.
That was the last straw.
Remy hesitated, humiliated, and when Sophia shoved her, she fell—people laughed, and Remy started crying.
I was done watching.
Ketlyn tried to hold me back, but I stood up.
“CLEAN IT!!!” Sophia yelled again, making Remy flinch.
Without thinking, I grabbed a drink off someone’s table and ,poured it all over Sophia , from her head down to the floor. The whole cafeteria gasped.
Remy wasn’t shocked—she stood up, brushed herself off, and walked straight to my side.
“What the hell...?” Sophia sputtered, dripping wet.
“It was just a simple gesture to mean...” I began, but Remy tapped my arm, signaling me to let her finish.
“GO. CLEAN. YOURSELF, BITCH.” Remy yelled.
She said it with a smile, small, but real. I smirked, grabbed her hand, and we walked back to our table.
Sophia stormed out of the cafeteria, furious, with Mia and Ashton trailing behind her.
We ate in peace—though we got glares from everyone. But honestly? Who cared? Those glances would fade soon enough.
