She also told him very clearly to see that such incidents donot recur. After talking to the principal the inchrge was hurt because he could realize that the principal had held him responsible for whatever had happened in the lab. He however was very confident that he committed no mistake , he was hundred percent sanguine about it. . So immediately he entered the lab.switched off all the instruments, checked and rechecked. He did every everything in the presence of the security incharge as instructed. When he went to check the main switch, he was baffled to see that the switch was off. So how could it happen? He asked the chief to take a note, locked the lab, and left the college. Every thing was ok for about a week or a little more than that. Nothing untoward happened. The chief was ,two some extent, relaxed that every thing was OK. But what happened after about 3 weeks shattered the mental balance of the security chief. One of the guards noticed that black smoke was billowing from the library block. The chief ran their with other guards and found that the entire library presented a devastating scenery . The books were thrown on the floor, the chairs were lying broken and burning, the glass panes of the windows were smashed, the blades of the fans were twisted and most importantly the entire block was on fire. The entire book racks were almost burnt. It presented a very fearful and pathetic scenario. The chief asked his staff to extinguish the fire by using the fire extinguishers. Meanwhile, he called the fire engine to come to the college immedtately. Two engines came and started their work. Next the chief informed the principal and the Director. Both of them were dumbfounded, and reached the college almost immediately. Both stood surprised and shocked to see the huge devastation. They were at a loss to understand as to how it happened, when the college was closed. It was a mystery they felt. The director was also worried as to why miscellaneous untoward incidents are taking place since the college closed for vacation. He, however, could not arrive at any conclusion. Finally the fire engines were able to put down the fire, but the loss was huge. The library lost almost all the books. The library has to be built again. Apart from the books even the entire furniture has to be made again. It was a great set back for the college. The principal charged the security chief that some body definitely sneaked into the college from outside and is doing all these nuisance. This angered the chief very much. He challenged that if she can prove that outsiders have sneaked into the college premises then they will quit the job. And all the guards stood aside asking her to investigate and they virtually stopped working. This created a huge problem. The Director understood that the principal did not mean it seriously, she spoke out of extreme worries and tensions. He persuaded the principal to apologize to the chief. The principal realized that it was wrong on her part to charge the chief like that. So she called the chief and sincerely apologized. She said she had lost the balance of her mind over the recurring problems. She was virtually now afraid of any call from the college, she remained on tenterhooks always on getting calls of fresh troubles. She told him not to take her charge personally and work sincerely. The ill feeling was thus compromised After a few days of this incident the vacation ended, and the college started functioning again. The students learnt about the fire in the library and huge loss. So they all stood infront of the library to have a look and expressed their sympathy. Some affluent parents contacted the principal and offered to help the college financially to rebuild the library. The principal very politely thanked them and took note of the offer and said that she would be in touch with them soon. The college registered 100% presence of the students and also of the teachers and the staff members. The security staff were doing their work as usual. Of course the chief was not present for two days, when asked, the guards replied that he was not OK, and that he would be coming next day. Joining the duty after the vacation, the principal checked all the video footages and was convinced that no outsider entered the college any time during the vacation. Hence she felt bad for charging the chief. But she started thinking why such incidents occurred when nothing was wrong on the part of the authorities. "Was it not a mystery?"she thought. Every thing was fine for about 20 days, nothing untoward happened and the principal was mentally a bit relaxed. After exactly 20 days of the opening of the college, a male student happened to enter the laboratory in the afternoon when there was supposed to be no one there. He was actually searching for the lab. Incharge to collect his note book which he had given him for his scrutiny. But to his surprise he found that one girl student was sitting on a stool and bowing her head on the front table. Out of curiosity he went to her and started calling, though he did not know her name correctly. But she was not responding. Hence, he went near and shook her a bit, and he was shocked to see that the girl fell down lifeless on the floor. Immensely surprised and shocked, he ran out and started shouting everybody standing at the threshold. Every body came running. It was the first murder in the history of the college. The principal stood surprised and even other faculties were standing speechless. Every body asked a common question who killed her and why?. The parents were informed and they came, fell on the body crying pathetically. They charged the administration with utter insecurity. They held the principal responsible for this mishap. The principal helplessly accepted all charges as she had nothing to say. Police came and found that it was a murder by strangulation. They asked who were her close boy friends, two names came forward. They took the body and started their investigation. They interrogated both of her friend's who were under their first suspicion but they were found absolutely innocent and subsequently released. They also called many other male students and checked their fingure prints but it did not match with hers. Police also collected the figure prints of all the staff, and the faculties but no print matched with the marks that were found around the victims neck. It created a big puzzle. Did then anybody come from out side and killed her? Security details were scrutinized but no lacuna was found at their end. The chief, himself an ex-cop boasted to the police that they don't allow even a fly to enter the college. After a prolonged investigation police were left with no clue. Surprisingly even they could not get any clue from the videos though two videos were fitted in the lab and one was fitted right at the door. Police asked how was the killer able to avoid being detected in the video? Police came under tremendous pressure from the public and higher ups. Finding no clues absolutely the case was kept pending. Every body targeted the Principal for her inefficiency, her office became the centre of all sorts of charges and attacks by the parents and public. She remained depressed and exceedingly worried throughout and soon She became a blood pressure patient.
