#6 Never approach like a gold digger: People are always on high alert when you suddenly approach them. They question your intention and what you want from them. It is better to let them approach you than you approach them. But if the need to approach these individuals arises, come as an enemy rather than a friend.
Chloe sorted the files in order of the date; it was her first day at work, yet her boss was not around.
The CEO's office was large, with a big desk, a comfortable chair and transparent windows with a beautiful view of the outside.
There was also a small table with two sofas opposite it; the office gave a feeling of dark chocolate and black coffee.
The first thing Chloe observed the first time she entered his office was the neatness and caramel smell the office bequeathed.
She had gone through the files on his desk and arranged every one of them in a more detailed approach.
Chloe carried the documents that needed to be photocopied in her hands. Unfortunately, her hand hit the CEO's table, and the files shattered on the floor. She bent down to pick the documents up when the door opened, and a harsh voice spoke.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?"
Chloe looked up to meet one of the most handsome men she'd ever seen with a demeaning glare.
The devilish man she saw at the party a few weeks before.
She rose from the floor and extended a handshake to Logan.
"Chloe Martini, your new Chief Assistant," he scrutinized her without returning the handshake.
"Where is Leon?" Logan asked, opening the door to find Miss Amy, his other assistant, on her desk.
"He is in his office," Chloe and Amy replied in unison.
"Can you stop talking, Savannah?" Logan looked at Chloe, then back at Amy
"Get him here now!"
Logan closed the door.
"My name is not Savannah," she corrected him when he was done with his conversation.
He stared at her again. She was beautiful, he thought.
Her hair was tied in a French twist, and she wore a white blouse and a tight pink skirt. It was a decent outfit, but all he thought of were devious things to do to her. The glasses she wore on her eyes were too big for her. She looked like an innocent sexy librarian rather than his Chief Assistant.
Logan took his seat while Chloe continued to stand; he was about to offer her a seat when Leon came in.
"Who is this?" Leon looked perplexed. The man paused before staring at Chloe and then back at his boss.
"Chloe Martini, Your new Chief Assistant."
" You could have just promoted Amy?"
"Amy is getting married next month, after which she will leave the company."
Logan took a deep sigh.
"I said hire me an assistant, not this" He waved his hands in Chloe's direction.
"I assure you, Miss Martini was selected as the best in the interview."
"I don't f*****g care what you say, Leon? Hire someone else."
Logan looked at her, her nails digging into her palm, yet she made no remark against him.
Logan pointed to her. It was the first time he acknowledged her presence.
"You, you're fired."
He expected her to cry and walk out or simply scorn him, but her facial expression remained bland.
"Under what grounds?" Chloe asked.
" On the grounds that it is my company."
"If taken to court for unlawful dismissal, would you still tell the Judge that? I have only worked for 1 hour, and" she paused to check her time before continuing to talk.
"22minutes, of which you judged me by my face and deemed me unfit for your company."
Leon folded his lips to hide his smile.
"I didn't judge you based on your face, but on the attitude you gave me, your boss."
Chloe took a deep breath before responding.
"I apologize for any rude behavior I might have displaced."
"Thank you, and you're still fired."
"Come on, Logan, just give her one month." Leon chirped in. He moved to Chloe, pulling her by her shoulders gently to Logan's desk.
"If by one month she isn't up to your standards. You can fire her."
Logan rested his hands on the table and locked his fingers together. His eyes wandered back to Chloe.
Her hands were placed behind her, and her expression still remained bland.
"One month, Miss Martini."
One month to get rid of his hot assistant.
Chloe got back to her desk just outside Logan's office. While Amy's desk was on the right side, hers was on the left, with a much bigger space. Chloe's desk didn't have many things, just files gathered, but when she stared at her colleague's desk, it was as if home could be an office.
She leaned deeper into her chair; her back and ankle still hurt from standing too much.
So what was his issue with her? Chloe realized she would have a hard time convincing Logan she was trusted when he already hated her at first glance.
Chloe leaps up, startled by the sight of her desk slammed with mountains of files covering her face.
"Get this done before tomorrow; sort them by dates, alphabet, and locations."
Logan said before going back to his office.
And Chloe thought hell would rejoice when she brought Logan Ford down to the pit.
