Chapter 1 — The Boy They Called Useless Rain poured endlessly over the old Kane mansion that night. The thunder outside almost sounded like the cries that came from inside the walls. In one of the dark rooms, a boy no older than nineteen knelt on the cold marble floor, his body trembling from the blows he had received. “Please… I didn’t take the money,” he whispered weakly, his voice cracked and full of fear.
