Jane’s POV I followed Nick down the hallway, both of us leaving the room and heading toward the main hall. The buzz of conversation and the clinking of glasses drifted up from below. Nick’s hand brushed mine, but I pulled away casually, glancing over my shoulder as though I’d heard something. “I’m gonna visit the ladies’ room real quick,” I told him sweetly, flashing a smile. He frowned. “Now?” “Yes, now. It’s a party, Nicholas, not a military drill. I’ll be right behind you.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Alright, but don’t take long.” As soon as his back turned, I didn’t waste a second. I slipped through the crowd like a shadow.
