Chapter Nine
Aura
I learned about Javvy becoming my stepbrother a year before the wedding, and it had been a year of long, torturous journey of soul-searching for me.
I had assumed he knew, too, and had not bothered to warn me about it, waiting to see the look on my face as some kind of petty revenge, but it became obvious immediately that he knew nothing about our impending relationship when I saw him.
The truth was, I was just not ready to tell him about our baby. I knew one day I would have to come clean but there were so many factors holding me back, so many reasons not to fire him an e-mail which read, “By the way, you’re a dad.”
It would have been fitting to break it to him that way. After all, that was the way he’d canned me without even the decency to tell me to my face.
