I was sitting in the office catching up on paperwork when Smarts burst in, breathing heavily. She’d evidently run.
“Smarts, calm, what’s going on?”
“I’ve got Sunshine on the phone, I’ll put him on speaker.” She was panting, bending over, hands on her knees as she tried to calm her breathing.
“Sunshine, what’s up?”
“Blade, Bite and Snake have been ambushed at a job. Jumped by vampires. We need backup.”
“f**k,” I swore, standing and moving towards the door, motioning Smarts to follow. “How many vampires?”
“We went in after one who should have been sleeping, but found another couple pretending to be asleep instead, and got jumped by another ten. They took out five or so. Blade’s wounded, badly.”
