CHAPTER 20

The battle was over. Thanks to Semeli and Sam no woman or child were harmed. Sam was patched up and was awake but Semeli was still in the surgery room. The doctors needed more than eight hours, trying to save her. After many attempts they finally brought her back to life and stabilized her. She was still unconscious but her heart was still beating, even if the sound was weak it still gave hope to Damien that she will come back.

Damien had not left her sight, he was holding her delicate hand, like his life depended on it. And in a way it did. Both Jason and Daisy, since last night, told him to go home to take a shower or even eat something but he refused. He wanted to be there, with his mate. She needed him and he needed her.

Lily came to the room. She saw Semeli laying on the bed and she started whimpering. Her friend was hurt because she protected her. She went closer to her and stood on her toes to reach her other hand, the one that Damien wasn’t holding.

“Please Meli, come back. You can’t leave so soon” she said, trying not to cry.

“Sammy is coming to see you in a bit. You need to wake up and tell him you are fine. He is very worried.” she said with an encouraging tone. Damien was looking at Lily and the way she was talking to his mate. She cared about her so much, even though she can’t understand the severity of the situation, she knew her friend was not well.

“You are the strongest girl I know, you will wake up.. right? she said and she broke down crying. She couldn’t bear watching her friend laying on the bed without moving. Before Daisy reached her she opened the door and run outside.

As the door opened Sam was heard, talking to someone.

“I know, I love you too” Sam said before ending his call and in a matter of seconds somebody grab him by the neck. He try to gasped for air but the grid on his neck was getting tighter by the second. He try to see who attacked him and he came face to face with an angry Damien.

“Wh-what.. th-the. he-hell” he try to say but he couldn’t. Damien nock his head on the wall.

“DAMIEN! STOP!” Daisy yelled frantically but he didn't stop. He didn't want to stop. His mate was his fiancée and her life was hanging by a threat and he was telling to someone else he loved them?

Jason grabbed Damien’s arm to stop him from killing Sam but he pushed him away.

“Damien stop! Think about Semeli” she yell and Damien froze. Thinking about his mate calmed him down and he removed his hand from his neck but still had Sam pinned to the wall.

Daisy now stood next to Damien and turned to look at Sam

“Sam, we heard you. You have a lot of explaining to do. Semeli doesn't deserve this kind of treatment and you know that.” she said in a serious tone

“What? what do you mean” he asked confused, trying to steady his breaths

“You are cheating on her, you bastard” Damien yells and tries to grab him by the throat again but Jason stops him.

“Don’t.. let him explain” Jason tried to reason with his alpha.

“You think I.. what? NO!” He start saying and by the end he was yelling.

“I am not the one who hurt Semeli. I saw the scars you left on her arm” he yelled accusingly at Damien.

“Just because she told me not to come after you and punch the living hell out of you, doesn't mean I wont do it” he continued saying and Damien growled.

“I will never hurt Semeli,” Sam stated, still yelling.

“Yet, you cheat on her. How do you think she will feel when she finds out?” Damien yelled back.

Sam’s body starts shaking from anger.

“Sam, you know that I know. Does Semeli know?” Daisy said with her soft voice trying to calm him down.

He shakes his head and she sighs.

“It’s not fair for her, she loves you. You can't hurt her like that” Daisy said again and Sam’s eye narrowed in anger. Jason ran to the side of his mate and lightly pushed her behind him.

“You think I don't know that? you think this is fair for me?” He started yelling in frustration.

“I did what I did, to protect her. We are not as lucky as you. We don't have a saying on who we love or who we end up with. We are hunters, marriage is a business deal for us. I chose Semeli so he wont have her. I gave up on the one I truly love and chose her, so he won't be able to have his sick way with her. I love Semeli and I own her my life. She and I have been through hell and back together. In order to keep her safe and sane, I-'' his anger and frustration turned into sadness. His body was shaking now due to his silent sobs.

Daisy moved away from her mate, towards Sam.

“NO” He yelled again and his eyes were getting glossy.

“You don't have the right to accuse me of hurting Semeli. Since we were kids she accepted me when no one else did. She protected me, she fought for me, even took the beating and punishment for me when I was too weak and sick to do it myself. She and I, were always together. In order to get over the business she needed a husband, those are the rules, women can’t lead. You have any idea how many twisted hunters wanted her, how they were looking at her and what they want to do to her?” He start saying and his voice c***k in the end.

“We couldn't go against them but not in a million of years I would let any of them hurting her or touching her again. She is my wife because that was the only way I could find to keep her safe”

Sam kneeled on the floor and buried his head in his hands sobbing, he was now a mess both physically and mentally.

Everybody was shocked with the new information they just learned. Damien’s eyes were wide. He never once felt his chest burning, so he knew that Sam didn’t touch his mate, at least not when they were in his territory. But now he realised Sam is not the bad guy, he wanted to protect his mate from her kind.

“This is so messed up” Jason said through their mind link and Damien nod in agreement.
