Chapter 23 The following morning, after stocking up on more supplies at the store in the main cabin, we asked the gray-haired man at the front desk where we could have breakfast. He sent us to the restaurant on River Run. I cut a piece of French toast and popped it in my mouth. A mixture of custard and maple syrup sheathed my tastebuds while I chewed on the pillowy bread. Savoring it, I shut my eyes and moaned. The chuckle that came from Charlie jarred me out of my rapture. "That good, huh?
