Chapter 35
Charlie’s family gathered in the waiting room of the morgue when we got to the hospital. This included Sarah, who huddled with Bri and Connie. Charlie joined their group.
They lost their father because of my family’s mess. None of them wanted to see me right now. Can't say I blamed them because I would've felt the same if I were in their shoes.
I went up to them and said, “I’m so very sorry for your loss. Please let me know if there’s anything you need.” They nodded half-heartedly while avoiding my eyes.
I moped to the corner of the waiting room, giving them their space to grieve.
