Chapter 36 Carol Lynne Miller: How are you? Where are you? I'm worried. I sat on my bed, waiting for his response. Nothing. It was quarter past ten in the morning. He was probably busy at work. Lord knows that firm was probably in disarray. Poor Charlie. After washing up in the ensuite, I went downstairs to the living room and did some research for a side client. Even though the bed sang its siren song, promising hugs, warmth, and rest, I couldn't afford to stop working. That nagging feeling clawed at my gut, and I'd changed tactics and phoned Charlie, before I lost my nerve. No answer.
