Chapter 11 - Breakfast and Surprises.

1095 Words
Alex’s P.O.V I slowly weaved my way over to Miss Whitmore’s table, sitting in a chair in front of her immediately capturing her attention. Her strict grey eyes undressed my calm facade, reading into how nervous I was. She always did that, made me feel belittled with only her eyes. She used to teach me math and although she was really good at teaching, she always found a way to make school hell for me. Calling me out when I wasn’t paying attention. Swallowing me with countless detentions and my favourite telling my mom about anything that I did and it was never good. Hell, she even made me miss my first class party. “Hello sir, may I help you?” My tooth-filled smile didn't help the situation at all, my eyes shifted from her raised eyebrow to Sophie’s humorous expression. She covers her mouth, seconds away from bursting into laughter. If my glare could kill, she'd be six feet under. Suddenly, Angry, chubby fingers snapped in front of my face, diverting my attention to the now furious Miss Whitmore. “I believed that I asked you a question, young sir. I expect an answer.” Thick saliva crawled down my throat as I heavily swallowed. “Um..Uh...Well, I wanted to talk to you about my cousin..Alex Swavil?” “Oh, that trouble maker...what did he tell you to tell me…’Miss, I didn't do my homework? He has so much potential yet he throws it away and for what?” her words shocked me, never in my life would I have thought that she had more to say than me being a nuisance. “Well, I am here to tell you that he's about to pull one of his pranks again. On a girl...um... Lily, he was talking to us about it yesterday and it raised some concerns, You see, he wants to spray her in the eyes with pepper spray.” Her eyebrows raised from my factual accusations. “He wouldn't dare!” I shook my head up and down vigorously, eager to make her believe me. “He was pretty serious about it and considering that he's a prankster, I’m thinking that he’s serious.” “Very well, when I arrive at school, I will hold a spot check to see if he really will bring any illegal substances there.” A wide smile spread across my face as I felt like jumping with glee. “I should join my friend again, have a wonderful rest of the evening.” Making my over to Sophie, I noted a change in her expression. She looked peeved at the fact that I had reasoned with my school's tormentor. “How did it go?” I sank into my seat, taking an eager bite out of my egg and bacon sandwich. The cheese dripped from my mouth as I chomped on the scrumptious food. Nothing could beat this sandwich, I felt in heaven, but of course, all good things must come to an end. “By the look on my face, I can say it went quite well. Can we go now? We need to arrive on time.” The cold rain pattered onto my skin-replenishing old cuts and bruises. I’ve always loved the rain. When I was younger dad and I used to play in it. Of course, we’d get sick and I’d have the worst fever ever, but it was always worth the smile that pops up on my face and the enjoyment that we both shared. Looking back at it, I missed the guy but he was with a new wife and kids that took all his time. I hardly got to see him and some days, I wondered how it would've been if he was still here. I probably would never pull any more of those pranks as I would've gotten all the attention that I needed, or maybe I’d still be a bad boy taking the world by storm. Sophie appeared to be in her own fantasies but for some reason instead of mirroring my smiles, she had a huge frown etched on her face. “What's wrong?” Her eyes were watery, just one blink, and the salty tears would come crashing down. “I just..nothing, were here.” She always worried me when she did this, she's like a little sister to me after all. My best friend, despite us disliking each other. She's the sarcastic person who ever falls silent. Hence silence is a great worry. “You know that you can talk to me right?” Her tears disappeared as a nasty scowl rested on her face, her eyes held fury. She looked about ready to bite my head off or sting me with deadly venom. “Be collected you t**t, your piteous words lack compassion and relevance. There is our target.” ‘Ok then...remind me never to comfort you again.” “Ha, ha very funny.” She said dryly, making her way over to younger Alex. High school, a place where you meet your first crush and receive your first heartbreak. Gain fake friends and for lifers. The nostalgia of it all. Just like I remembered, the crowded halls. The jocks throwing the footballs to each other. Bullies beating up nerds and pushing them into lockers. Prep girls planning for the next cheer tournament. It was all a breeze, I missed it, will always miss it. I can't wait to go back home to this, to a nice long year with a healthy mother, new friends, and no more pranks. I’ve definitely learned my lesson. Blasting into the past, most of them were highly immature. Sophie made her way over to me, I had to stay where I was in case we saw each other. I could only hope that this plan would work. Suddenly the school bell rang. Lily sprang around the corner in her usual white flowing skirt and green sweater. She was skipping happily towards the younger me, pleased with the morning events. As Alex approached her, Sophie ran after him and out came Miss. Winchester. Out from her BMW, Her red lipstick grabs everyone's attention. The halls were deathly silent, no one dared speak. Her black heels click-clacked on the stone pavement as she maneuvered her way into the middle of the crowd. With her simple black dress and heated eyes, even I felt worried. Clearing her throat, she began her speech. “Everyone, we will have an immediate spot check. Line up now!” A/N Thanks for reading?
