Chapter 10 - Change of plans

1091 Words
Sophie's P.O.V Waking up to the rain is one of the most magical things to experience. It would look better if the rain was blue though, that lovely colour replenishing Earth's colourless world. Imagine a place that was dried and shriveled, ironically like autumn taking its course. However, instead of Orange-brown leaves, they are completely yellow, the grass, trees, shrubs...all vegetation. Then the blue rain comes crashing down, replenishing the leafless trees and adding nutrition to the soil, creating purple leaves once more. Just thinking about it brought tears to my eyes. Every second here made me nostalgic and homesick. Guarantee that I hate it here, the only good thing about the place is Al-...I can't believe that I was about to say that t***s name. Speaking of, he laid soundly in the confines of his chamber, comfortably snoring as an obvious sign of having good dreams. His drooling would be the death of me, the bed is always soaked in the mornings because he rolls all over, barely leaving any room for me to sleep. Looking at him through the bathroom door, I slowly began brushing my teeth. I was still perplexed about the hairbrush and shampoo. I racked my brain last night after Alex went to sleep. Just who could've left it there? I looked at my bracelet that dad gave me, the old man was always paranoid. He cried like a baby when he set me off to this place, because of that, he gave me this bracelet to contact him If I was ever in trouble or needed him. I was torn between shaking the little hourglass on the silver ban or trying to figure this out myself. I was always self-entitled back home, people bowed to me and took great care of me and I'd always try to return the favour. Whenever I needed something I’d call dad. A bolt of lightning struck, shocking me out of my thoughts. I looked at the picturesque view outside, the white lightning struck angrily on the mixed coloured tree. Zeus was probably angry at his brothers and is taking it out on everyone else. I bet Merlin himself is petrified by his anger. My dull eyes travelled to the mirror directly opposite of the bathtub. There was something particularly interesting about it...or rather reflected on it. Reflected was what appeared to be a piece of parchment on the bottom of the shampoo in the shower holder. I quickly spun around, looking at the shampoo bottle and indeed there was a little note. Running over to it, my heart thumped against my chest. My palms got sweaty, I could only imagine what was on it. Slowly picking it up, I had no difficulty tearing it off the bottom. Before I had the chance to open it, I was scared out of my wits by a hot whisper in my right ear. The unknown's breath fanned my neck making me involuntary shiver but the cocky laugh had my curiosity going down the drain. My joy was replaced by anger as I quickly looked at Alex. His hair was all over the place but in a way that wasn't unattractive, in fact, I believe that he could pull it off outside. He looked thrilled for some reason, a wide smile beaming on his face. His laugh slowed to chuckles as his eyes glinted with joy. “What is wrong with you?” I slowly placed the note in my pocket, eager to get rid of Alex. I didn't want him to worry about it. Something like this could potentially rupture the timeline and with his mother in critical condition, she didn't have much time for any delays. “You should have seen the look on your face.” I laughed dryly, Showing obvious annoyance, instantly seizing Alex’s taunting. “Your mother is in a hospital, not even breathing on her own and you really have time to be sneaking up on me? I knew that you were a t**t darling, but a prick too?” I felt terrible seeing all the happiness drain from his face. I was edging to bring it back to him but I knew that I've already ruined the mood. I only did it to let him back up off of me. His morning musk was alluring and his smile had managed to imprint into my imagination. Not to mention the dream that I had about him last night. We were back at my planet, on the pink sand beach drinking cocktails and staring at the beautiful sunset. We were discussing the future, how many kids we wanted and suddenly, he pulled out a velvet box. It opened to a stunning diamond ring and he bent on one knee. He said ‘Sophie will you mar-’ “Well let's go then, shall we? I don't want to be a ‘prick’ anymore.” He looked broken as he slouched out the door, eyes glossy from probable tears. “Yes, yes, just let me take a shower and freshen up. After a long bath and contemplating alerting my father, we finally made our way to the school, twenty minutes before the occurrence. Passing by the ice cream shop, I slowly made my way over to it. “What are you doing? The schools this way.” “I know, but I haven't eaten anything this morning and neither have you so let's just have a quick breakfast and then we can be on our way, plus we're early. He looked peeved but complied. The bells jingled as soon as we opened the door, nothing but warm smiles looked at us. We found our seats, looking at the breakfast menu. Although this place's main purpose is to sell ice cream, they still serve sandwiches and coffee. “I’m craving a bacon, ham and cheese sandwich...with a nice long glass of frap...how about you?” Just as he was about to respond, The bell at the front door rang. The teacher that we were supposed to meet at school came rushing in. “I guess that breakfast stop was of more use than filling our tummies eh Alex?” He looked pale at the teacher's appearance as if something was deathly wrong. “Don't tell me that that's the one we are talking to? That's Miss Whitemore...she hates me” The waiter came to our table as Miss Whitmore made her way to a seat across from us, “I’m sorry about that….but I have a plan,” To be continued….
