I have been trying to find out the mystery that surrounds Selene and the only person that can help me solve that mystery is no other person than Sara. I have been planning on meeting her so that I could ask her questions about Selene but it seems like it's impossible for us to meet these days.
I had no other choice but to go see her even though it's already very dark and if we are caught I might get into trouble.
“I just asked what you want at this hour of the night.” Sara said to me, she looked displeased to see me at such an hour of the night.
“Sara, you know exactly why I'm here, you know what I am here to ask you.”
“I have told you that we can't pressure her, she's still trying to know her way around here and all you care about is who she is and how she is able to carry your baby if she's human.”
“Sara, don't make it sound like I am heartless. You know why I am curious to know who she is. You know the things that happen in the pack and how risky it is for a human to live among us.” Sara heaved a sigh when she heard what I said.
“I have told you several times to be patient, she just got here, with time we will find out who she really is. I was asleep when you disturbed me.”
“You obviously don't look…”
“Dante.” Sara interrupted immediately, stopping me from saying what I was about to tell her. I realized now is not the right time to speak with Sara because she is obviously not in a good mood judging from the way she spoke.
“Fine, I'm leaving.” I said to her and walked out of the witch palace.
Sara was not always like this until the incident that happened 10 years ago when she was declared as an evil witch. Back then Sara’s mother did everything to clear Sara’s name but it was all to no avail because no one was willing to listen to her.
This is the reason why Sara is unable to mix with others in the pack, she's been confined in the witch Palace for a very long time now separating herself from everyone in the pack willingly.
I tried everything I could back then to convince her to stop distancing herself from everyone but she is yet to get over the horrible past which is why she insists on staying indoors.
“Alpha Dante.” I heard someone call out my name, who could it be at this hour?
I was shocked to see Jackson walking around the mansion at such an hour.
“What are you doing out here? You have a flight to catch very early tomorrow.” I said to him as I was walking closer.
“Yes, I'm very aware of that but at the same time I would be gone for a long time, so I need to take a look around the pack house.”
“Stop sounding like you could actually change your mind because I know you very well, you chose your path.”
“And I don't regret it.” We both laughed after hearing what Jackson said.
“Have you had any proper conversation with her since she got here?” I shook my head immediately when I heard the question that Jackson asked me.
“Why? I mean it's been three days already, you should ask her some questions, maybe you will finally get the answers you've been looking for.”
“There's no point.”
“What do you mean?”
“I don't think having a conversation with her will change anything because the last time that I went into her room to have a conversation with her she pretended to be asleep, so I had to pretend like I was worried she hadn't eaten all day.” Jackson couldn't hold in the laughter when he heard what I said.
“What's so funny about what I just said?”
“Everything about what you just said right now is funny, is she avoiding you?”
“I guess that's what it is, maybe she thinks I'm some kind of cannibal that's going to eat her alive.” Jackson laughed again.
“She really knows nothing about our kind, it's crazy because you were engaged to Anna and as you said they have some sort of relationship so how is she not aware of us and Anna was engaged to you this is even more complicated than I imagined.” Jackson said to me and there was sudden silence between the both of us.
“How could doctor Gerald make such a mistake, if everything had gone well on his own parts this wouldn't be happening right now you would have had your baby with the person you want to have it with.”
“Same thing I said to myself yesterday, the mistake was a huge one, what if she was still married? How would I have had possession of my baby?”
“Let's not even go there.” Jackson said while laughing, I had to smile because I couldn't imagine such a scenario.
“Where were you coming from?” Jackson suddenly asked. I was confused the moment I heard the question. I suddenly didn't know what to say to him because I didn't want him to know that I visited the Witch Palace at such an hour.
“What?”
“I saw you coming from the witch palace direction, were you there?”
“No.” I replied to him almost immediately.
“I mean, there's a lot going on right now and to feel better and clear my head I had to take a walk, I was heading back to my chamber when you called me.” I lied.
I know that Jackson didn't have a good relationship with the witch because he was once in love with her and she kept rejecting him until his love for her slowly turned to hatred and now the sound of her name only agitates him.
“Are you sure you didn't go see her?”
“When are you going to move on?” I asked curiously because he's only hurting himself by staying mad at her.
“What are you talking about? Dan, you know very well that what happened in the past should be kept in the past.” Jackson said and finally bidded goodnight before walking away.
I was left all alone and since there was nothing to do I headed back to my room. While I was climbing the stairs I sighted her room door, I slowly walked towards the door and was about to knock, but I stopped myself because she must have fallen asleep already and going in now might only wake her from her sleep.

The next morning.
I woke up very early because there is an important meeting holding in the company today and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to drop my best friend off at the airport.
“Okay, someone is desperate about seeing me off.” Jackson teased.
“What makes you think I'm here because of you?” I asked him and sipped my cup of coffee gently.
“We've known each other for more than three hundred years, I know you too well not to know such little gestures.”
“Whatever, I have an important meeting.”
“Really?”
“Fine, I was only going to drop you off on my way to work, so stop feeling so important.” I said to him shyly. I couldn't admit that I really wanted to drop him at the airport, which is why I woke up very early.
While having breakfast we both had conversations and when it was time to leave the house I noticed that Jackson's face was glued to a particular position.
“Jack.” I called several times but he didn't reply to me, then I looked towards the direction his face was glued to. Her white dress complimented her skin so well that I almost could not recognize her.
“Is she the one?” Jack asked.
“Yes.” He finally turned to look at me and I could tell from his facial expression that he had a lot to say.
“Jack, you'll be late.”
“Good morning.” Selene looked shocked to see both of us in the sitting room, she took a few steps backwards.
“We don't bite.” Jackson turned to look at me the moment he heard what I said.
“Hey, I'm Jackson. Your husband's best friend.”
“Jackson.” I tried to call him to order immediately.
“I'm not married to anyone presently.” Selene replied almost immediately. She looked really displeased to hear Jackson call me her husband, she must really despise me.
“Pardon my lousy mouth, sometimes it's just uncontrollable.” Jackson said to her and she let out a soft smile.
I was surprised to see her smile, she hasn't smiled since she got here.
“You look dressed up, are you heading somewhere?” I asked her curiously.
“I have to visit the doctor today, called him last night and he requested that I'm at the hospital very early.”
“Do you know your way out?”
“Dan, she just got here, if she leaves by herself she might end up in the woods, you know how dangerous that is.” Jackson said to me.
“Why don't we all leave together, you'll drop me at the airport then you two find your way.” Jackson proposed a good plan and we all headed into the car.
There was a heavy silence in the car which made the whole thing a little too awkward.
“How is your relationship with Anna?” Jackson suddenly asked Selene.
