Selene’s POV I stayed in bed for a long time after Anna left. I could feel my insides burning with anger as I felt something heavy within me. I wanted to scream and get out of this godforsaken place, but I kept quiet. I didn’t cry. I was too tired to cry. My eyes just stared at the ceiling while my thoughts kept spinning and spinning like a broken wheel. Then, slowly, I sat up. My hands rested on my lap. I looked down at them. My fingers. My skin. My palms. They looked the same as always, but they felt different now. I remembered that day. That horrible, painful day. The day everything changed. I had come home early. I was excited. I thought he’d be happy. I had planned to surprise him. But I was the one who got surprised. I opened the door, walked in with a smile… and saw Anna.
