Selene's POV
I sat in the hospital bed, my mind spinning from the news I had just heard and the Alpha’s crazy insistence.
Couldn't he see that this was a friggin mistake?! I glanced at him, who was still close by, his presence both daunting and fearful. The last thing I needed.
“This can’t be real,” I whispered, trying to wrap my head around everything. “My baby… it’s not just yours, is it?”
He watched me before answering. “This is very important, Selene. My child is going to be special. As my child, he or she will have unique abilities because I’m an Alpha King. That baby in your belly is no normal child. You will see for yourself.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, feeling panic rise again. “What do you mean your child will have different abilities?”
He stared as if I had a thick skull and I had to press down the urge to whack him across the face. Sadly, he looked like he could crush me and I couldn't die today.
“What kind of abilities?” I pressed, my heart racing. “What will they be able to do?”
Dante shrugged. “Super strength, heightened senses, maybe even something more powerful as they grow. It’s complicated, Selene.”
“Complicated,” I echoed, my mind racing. “I can’t even think straight right now. I need to go home.”
“Are you sure?” he asked, obvious demand creeping into his voice. “You should stay here, let the doctors keep an eye on you.”
“I can’t,” I insisted, shaking my head. “I need space to think about everything. Please sir. Here's my address, you can track me down but right now, I need my space.”
He seemed a bit confused but nodded. “Alright but just take care of yourself and me baby.”

The ride home felt like a blur. My thoughts were filled with everything—the pregnancy, the friggin Alpha King, Hunter. What would I tell Hunter? I had been trying to protect our future together, but now everything was turned upside down. I felt torn.
When I arrived home, I noticed the door was ajar. I was sure I had locked it this morning and Hunter was at work. That's why he couldn't come for the ultrasound. Had I left it unlocked? Was there a thief? I walked in cautiously.
“Hello?” I called out, but there was no answer. I felt a chill run down my spine.
As I stepped into the living room, I heard noises coming from my bedroom. My heart raced. I hesitated before slowly walking down the hall.
When I reached the door, my heart sank. I peered inside and felt my breath catch. There was Hunter, and he was in bed—with my sister, Anna?!
“What the hell?!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the room. They both turned, shock on their faces. Hunter’s eyes widened, and Anna gasped, her expression filled with guilt.
“Selene!” Hunter exclaimed, scrambling to sit up. “It’s not what it looks like!”
“Then what is it?” I spat. “You’re in bed with my sister. How could you do this?”
“I… I didn’t mean for you to find out this way,” Hunter stammered, looking flustered.
I felt a wave of anger and betrayal wash over me.
“You didn’t mean for me to find out? You’re kidding me right? This is not okay!”
“Selene, please,” Anna tried to reach out, but I stepped back.
“Don’t touch me!” I yelled, tears stinging my eyes. “You both used me! After everything I’ve done to be with you!”
Hunter looked hurt, but his expression quickly shifted to one of cold but burning anger. “Selene, listen. I wanted to tell you the truth before, but—”
“Before what?” I interrupted, my voice shaky. “Before you got caught? Before I found out that my own sister is in your bed?”
He glanced at Anna, then back at me. “I wanted to give you these.”
He reached into his bedside table and pulled out a set of papers. “I’ve been planning to file for divorce.”
My heart dropped. “Divorce? Are you kidding me?” I felt the ground shift beneath me. “You’re doing this while I’m pregnant? How can you be so heartless?”
“It’s not like that,” he said, his voice cold now. “I planned this long before you knew you were pregnant. I didn’t want to hurt you, but I couldn’t keep this a secret any longer. You are a useless woman and I love Anna more.”
A wave of betrayal shot through me. “So, you planned to leave right when my life is changing?” I felt the tears spill over. “I can’t believe this.”
“Selene, I never loved you. I just want you to sign these.” he said, trying to approach me.
“Don’t come closer! You think this hurts me? You think I’m okay with this?” I shouted, frustration and pain bubbling over. With my hands trembling, I signed the papers but didn't hand them to him just yet.
“I just didn’t know how to handle everything,” Hunter replied, his face hardening.
“Handle what?” I asked, my voice breaking.
“The fact that I’m having a child? The child that you said you wanted?” Hunter stared at me, his expression unreadable. “Look, I can’t be tied down to this. Not now.”
“Not now? This isn’t just some game, Hunter! This is my life!” I yelled, as my hands shook with anger.
My sister stood there, silent, and I could tell she didn’t know what to say either. “Anna, how could you?” I turned to her, the hurt getting worse.
“Look, I'm not sorry, Selene. I didn’t know he was with you,” she said harshly . “He told me he didn't love you anymore and he was going to leave you.”
“So you just believed him? No questions?” I cried incredulously.
“Are you so stupid!!”
“Enough!” Hunter interrupted, raising his voice. “I’m done talking about this. I’m ready to move on.”
“Move on? You’re a disgusting cheater! How can you deal with problems.”
“Me?” he narrowed his eyes. “You’re the one who’s pregnant. You’re the one with the problem.” The words hit me hard. I couldn’t believe how cruel he could be.
“You’re right. I am pregnant,” I said slowly, trying to keep my composure. “But you made this choice. Not me.”
“If you want to keep this as a family, that’s your choice,” Hunter said flatly. “But you won’t drag me into it.”
“I’m not dragging you into anything! This is your child too!” I shot back, tears falling freely now.
“Not anymore,” he said coldly, taking the divorce papers and handing them to me.
“You have what you want. Good luck or whatever and according to that agreement, you are not allowed to take anything.” He pushed me to the door and I stood there, stunned, watching him close it—our last connection severed.
“You planned this all along,” I whispered, feeling the weight of his betrayal.
“f*****g bastard!”
