Chapter 8

After I had decided to wear a white top and army green cargo trousers, I decided to accessorize with white flats, a vertical infinity loop necklace and diamond studs. I let my hair loose and decided to use a quick swipe of lip gloss and a bit of blush to give my lips some shine and my cheeks some color. As I inspected myself in the mirror, I decided that I looked just like any alive human being would and then wondered how June would react when she found out that I wasn't the blonde, blue eyed girl she had met at the party. I was nnot willing to put on the wig or contacts now so she better accept me or leave me. I got on my bike and put my helmet on before going on the road...safety rules. As I was on the road, I noticed how busy it was. It was probabaly because there was no school and many offices were not open, so people would want to spend time with their friends and family. I arrived at starbucks and parked my bike outside and kept my helmet on it. I was greeted by a busy starbucks and I hoped June got here earlier-even though I was five minutes early- and was able to reserve a table but if not, maybe we would just go somewhere else. I spotted June sitting in a corner on her phone, so I walked up to her. ''Hi'' I said sitting down opposite her ''Hi, do I know you from somewhere? And that seat is reserved for a friend'' she said with a confusing look on her face. ''Do I look THAT different?'' I asked but she still looked as confused as ever ''Its me, Sharon. I'm the person you invited'' I said getting tired of explaining. ''Really? This is you?'' she asked surprised ''Yeah, whats wrong with this me?'' I asked ''Nothing, its just that your blue eyes and blonde hair at the party looked natural'' she said smiling ''Well as you can see, I'm not really a blue eyed blondie'' and then we both burst into laughter as we ordered a cup of coffee each. ''So what inspired you to change your look that night?'' she asked sipping her coffee slowly due to how hot it was. ''Well, I just got bored of this old look and decided I needed a change and my date had a think for blue eyed blondies I guess'' I said removing confidential details but I was mostly truthful. ''I totally understand you. I have raven colored hair and hazel eyes and sometimes I get bored of seeing the same old thing, so I just switch it up. But what you did at the club was wild, you look totally different now than how you did yesterday, and that is totally beyond hair and contacts'' she said with a lot of bubbly energy and I discovered that she had a thing for using the word, totally. ''Well, you see, all I can say is that it all depends on the makeup and I was very picky about the kind of look I wanted but anyone can pull it off'' I said a bit overwhelmed. ''Not everyone, what highschool do you go to?'' she asked and then when she saw the confused look on on my face she added. ''I can totally tell that you're in highschool but don't worry, so am I'' ''I go to NYC high'' I said with a giggle that did not sound like it came from me. ''Oh, me too. How come we haven't bumped paths with you before?'' she said smiling at me, still sipping her first cup of coffee while I was already almost done with my second. ''Yeah, there are a lot of people that I have not met so it isn't really surprising.'' I said with a laugh ''You totally sound like one of those students who don't care to know the people around them, but is known by everyone right now'' she said sternly ''Well, sorry but I'm not usually in the loop about acceptable behavioural characters but I did not mean to sound rude or bas right now'' she said now sipping on her second coffee. ''You know maybe we should go somewhere else, I don't think drinking that amount of coffee is a health choice.'' I said as she picked up her third coffee. ''You are probably right but then I have to find us transport because I don't have a ride'' she said looking the way anime characters looked when they were thinking ''Its ok, I have a ride'' I said with a grin ''Seriously?'' she said with such excitement that I wondered if she was brought out of a cartoon ''Yeah, seriously. Lets go outside.'' I said getting up and waiting for her to do the same. When we got outside she seemed to be looking for something by the way she kept looking around. ''What are you looking for?'' I asked ''Your ride, I don't see it anywhere'' she said amusing me ''But you haven't seen my ride before so how do you know what to look for?'' I asked ''Well, I just have to look for something that someone who looks and acts like you would ride'' she said still looking ''Should I give you more time or should I get it?'' I asked getting my keys from my bag ''You can get it, it is most definitely not here'' she said with much confidence as she leaned on my bike ''Well, I'm sorry to dissapoint but you but you are leaning on my ride.'' I said and burst into laughter. ''Seriously?'' she asked and looked at me surprised before looking at the bike ''Yeah'' I said looking at her and I was sure anyone could see the amusement written on my face. ''But this bike doesn't match your look or personality'' she said, doubting if this is really my bike. ''You don't like it?'' I asked geting onto the bike and putting on my helmet ''No, I do. It's a sweet ride, it's just that I didn't suspect it but it is cool'' she said. ''Ok, then lets go.'' I got a spare helmet out of the top box and handed it to her. ''Are you ok?'' I asked as she climbed onto the bike, then I added ''Hold tight'' I said and felt her fingers go around my waist and then her hands clasped together by my abdomen and I could tell that she was holding on to me as tightly as I could. ''Do you want to go for a ride?'' I asked mischieviously ''Aren't we going for one now'' she said ''I mean a real ride'' I said and then she replied with her signature cartoon like energy ''Of course''
