I was wearing black leggings as they were just so comfortable and stretchy, it would be easier to fight in them. I wore a long sleeved black top too, under my black winter coat and black trainers. My sword was sheathed on my back under the coat, I thought I looked pretty badass until I tripped on the curb. Amdis caught me by my arm and said, “please try to be aware of your surroundings.”
“I am!” I huffed.
“If you are naturally this clumsy, then perhaps you should not be in this line of work.”
“Stop being a d.ick!” I snapped.
“I am not, it is a dangerous job and one must be very alert and focused at all times, there is no room for mistakes.”
I let go of his arm and stormed off ahead. We watched Anne go into her workplace safely, and Amdis had us sit on a bench to blend in while we kept a look out for any sign of her stalker.
The bench was cold, and it made my butt so cold it felt numb. I was swinging my legs bored and Amdis put his hand on my thigh, stopping me. “Sit properly,” he said.
“I am.”
“Your swinging is annoying.”
“Oh, in that case!” I replied sarcastically and started swinging them faster.
He sighed in annoyance and ignored me after that. After a while, I asked, “is her stalker human?”
“You still have not created your profile?” He asked.
I pulled a face and said, “sorry?”
He grew more frustrated and I realised I did that to him a lot, he always seemed frustrated and sighed a lot around me.
“So!” I asked.
“No, he is a werewolf.”
“Oh, that’s scary,” I said.
“This is what you signed up for,” he replied.
“I know, it’s fine, I have Jade.”
“Jade?” He frowned.
“Yeah, my sword has a Jade stone, so I called her Jade.”
“Her?” He replied and then put his hand to his forehead and took a deep breath.
“Of course you named your sword,” he mumbled more to himself than to me.
I was looking around casually when I saw a man who looked completely out of place. He was hanging around outside the building pretending he was on his phone. He was really muscular, very attractive in that unnatural way and was only wearing a white t-shirt even though it was freezing outside.
I nudged Amdis and whispered, “is he a werewolf?”
Amdis looked at where I was looking, and sniffing the air, he nodded. “What do we do?” I whispered.
“Nothing yet, we wait.”
We waited a long time, the werewolf didn’t do much, he just either pretended to be on his phone, walked around trying to seem natural or would buy something to eat at the vendor truck.
When Anne finished work and came outside, the werewolf guy pulled his phone out and started walking behind her while talking to someone on the phone.
I couldn’t hear what he said because we were too far away, but I stayed quiet because I knew Amdis would be able to hear, and I didn’t want to distract him.
When wolf dude hung up his phone, I asked, “what did he say?”
“Basically, he is letting our stalker know that he has spotted her and is following her, he’s next move is to grab her in a more secluded street.”
“So he must have his pack helping him?”
Amdis nodded, and we moved a little closer to him and Anne.
Anne was walking past an alleyway, and both me and Amdis knew wolf dude would try to drag her in there if he got the chance. We rushed towards them, but I got distracted by the wind whipping my hair into my face, spluttering and looking totally uncool, I brushed it out of my face and ran to catch up to Amdis who already had wolf dude pinned up against the wall in the alleyway.
“Woah, dude, chill out!” The werewolf gasped.
“Who were you talking to on the phone?”
“Just a pack member!”
He tried struggling out of Amdis’ grip but couldn’t and giving up, he leaned back against the wall.
“Which pack member? Give me his name.”
“Uh, I don’t really know his name, I’ve only recently joined the pack,” wolf dude said, while frantically looking around for an escape or maybe help.
I withdrew my sword and put it against his neck and as coldly as I could sound I said, “tell the truth, or I’m just going to cut your head off, and I’ll find out myself.”
“S.hit lady! Calm your t.its! You don’t need to go all ninja on me!”
I pressed the blade more firmly against his neck, drawing a small amount of blood and closing his eyes he gave up and mumbled, “f***k my life. Fine, he’s a creepy a.ss piece of s.hit who I hate, but he’s a higher rank than me and threatened if I don’t help him he will tell our alpha I f.ucked his girl.”
“Did you?” I asked.
“Huh?”
“Did you sleep with the alpha’s girlfriend?”
“Kind of,” he said sheepishly.
“What does kind of mean?” I asked.
“She kissed me first, I was drunk and we did some stuff.”
“What stuff?”
He shrugged his shoulders even though Amdis still had a tight grip on his jacket and answered, “kissed her, let her suck me off, and I licked her p*****., that kind of stuff, I didn’t actually put my d.ick in her p.ussy.”
I blushed at how crudely he explained everything, and it didn’t matter that my dark skin hid the blush, he was a werewolf and was in tune with body language, he noticed. “Aw, you’re blushing like some sweet virgin girl.”
When I grew even more flustered, his eyes widened, and he said, “oh, you ARE a virgin?”
I didn’t answer, but I withdrew the sword and sheathed it on my back. He looked me over and smiled, “I could teach you some things.”
Amdis slapped the side of his head like he was some unruly teen or something and said, “name.”
“Oh, uh, Brian, Brian O’Neil is his name.”
Amdis nodded and let go of him. He was still staring at me, and I asked, “what?”
“You want to go on a date with me?”
My eyes grew wide, I’d never been asked out by so many men before and certainly never beautiful ones until now, first Kane and now a werewolf.
“Uh, well,I—”
Amdis interrupted me, “no, she does not, get out of here before I change my mind about letting you go.”
He didn’t hesitate, wolf dude ran and didn’t look back.
I looked at Amdis and he coldly said, “you did so many things wrong today.”
“Like what?” I asked.
“For one, may I suggest you tie your hair up appropriately to avoid slowing yourself down. Two, don’t chat with the enemy like they are your best friend and three, never say yes to dating them.”
“I didn’t say yes to dating him!” I replied defensively.
“You were thinking about it.”
“Sorry, I’ve never been asked out by such an attractive guy before, all you supernaturals are beautiful and hot but none have ever shown interest before,” I mumbled.
He still looked cold, but he didn’t look annoyed anymore. “Men like that you should avoid.”
“Why?”
Sighing, he gently nudged me to walk with him to catch up with Anne who hadn’t even been aware of what had gone on behind her.
“Men like that only want one thing.”
When I frowned, he explained, “he only showed interest the second you mentioned being a virgin, he wanted your body not you.”
“Great,” I sulked.
“I am sorry, I don’t mean to offend or upset you, I just want to warn you and for you to be careful.”
“So he was just like any human man too, then?”
“Not all men are like that, but yes, supernatural males are not above being crude and disrespectful, we are no more perfect than the humans.”
“You seem to be,” I said, looking up at him.
He gave a small smile but stayed looking ahead when he replied, “I have had more lifetimes than most to learn and grow and change, and even then, I am not perfect.”
“Right, you date many women.”
Smiling more widely, he said, “yes, although not currently.”
“Pfft, bet it’s the first time in a century or more that you’ve been single.”
He laughed that sexy boyish laugh I loved, and I asked, “what?”
He shook his head, still smiling and answered, “you have no idea how accurate your reply was.”
When we got to Anne’s we explained to her what had happened, she was terrified to hear how close she had been to being taken and not even being aware of any danger behind her, it scared her so badly her hands were shaking, Amdis ever the gentleman gently made her sit down on the kitchen chair and asked, “we just need to confirm with you, Brian O’Neil is the name of your stalker?”
“Oh yes, that’s him, I’m sorry, I didn’t even tell you did I, I got so caught up in my fear and just wanting a bodyguard as soon as possible, I left out the most important details.”
“It’s alright, it means the omega was telling the truth, I knew he was already, but I always like to make sure.”
Huh, so that werewolf had been an omega? No wonder he had seemed so chilled and friendly.
