Chapter 29: Catch him!

I tried not to be bothered watching Amdis look after her like he had me when he had been guarding me. He made her eat and drink something, and then gently encouraged her to get some rest. So I was right, he treated me no different to his other clients, I was nothing special to him, pet or not.

I hated that I was so soft, I had broken so fast in letting my guard down and talking to Amdis as if nothing had ever happened, as if he hadn’t just up and left my life, and now I was slowly falling back into that clingy girl who was head over heels in love with him. I needed to stop, I couldn’t go through that pain again.

When Anne headed up to her bed, I sat the on the sofa quietly, Amdis tried talking to me a few times, but he only got one worded answers from me.

He left me alone after that, and I decided to take his offer of sleeping while he kept watch, I shouldn’t have. Sleep didn’t help me, I ended up dreaming about Amdis confessing his love to me, I was so happy, the dream was so vivid and real, I felt every emotion intensely so that when I woke up, I cried when I realised none of it had been real.

“Rochelle? What is wrong?” Amdis asked.

Crap, he was so still and unmoving I had forgotten he was still standing at the window. I tried wiping my eyes and mumbled, “nothing, it was a stupid dream.”

“Another nightmare?”

“No, it was a really good dream.”

He looked at me in confusion and said, “I do not understand?”

“I wanted it to be real!” I cried and ran to the bathroom to hide.

“Rochelle, please open up,” Amdis called through.

“No, just leave me alone.”

“You are my pet, I will never leave you alone again.”

I stopped sniffling and asked curiously, “what does that mean?”

“Open up and I will tell you.”

I wiped my eyes and got up, slowly opening the door.

He looked down at me and stroked my wet cheek softly. “I am so sorry I caused you such pain, I will not leave you like that again.”

“You’re always busy with work, how could you ever find the time to visit me?”

“Working together makes it much easier, but during our holiday breaks or when things are quieter, I would like it if you came to live with me.”

“What! You want to marry me!”

Frowning, he laughed and said, “why do you always think of the most dramatic reasons? No, as you know, most pets live with their masters, so if you wish, I would like it if you came to live with me.”

“Oh, yeah, that makes more sense, you know most masters feed on their pets too.”

“I will not feed on you, do not worry.”

I couldn’t believe he was asking me to live with him, I knew he had hated having a pet, and now he wanted me by his side always? I had to ask, “what changed?”

“What do you mean?”

“I know you hated having the responsibility of a pet, and then you abandoned me, what’s so different now that you want me living with you?”

He stroked my hair softly while looking into my eyes and said, “I missed you, I didn’t realise just how much until you came back into my life. I do not want to be without you again.”

“That sounds like a love confession,” I teased.

“Do not get me wrong, I still do not want to fall in love, that hasn’t changed, but I do want a loving platonic relationship.”

“Like family?”

“In a way, yes. You are my pet and I want you close by, but it is your choice, you do not have to live with me.”

“If I did, does that mean I get to see your home?”

“Yes.”

“Hell yes! I’ll live with you, my master,” I replied playfully and bowed.

He laughed and ruffled my hair. “Good, now will you come out of the bathroom.”

I almost skipped out, I was so happy. I could never stay mad for very long, I knew if I ever became a werewolf I would so be an omega.

He hadn’t confessed his love or anything like that, but to me, this felt like a good step forward and gave me hope again that maybe one day I could change his mind.

I decided to forgive him for abandoning me, I mean, this could have gone worse, he could have hated seeing me again, he could have been mean or not bothered, but he had been trying non-stop to apologise and make things right with me, and now he had asked me to live with him, that was all him, I hadn’t had to ask or hint or anything, he had come up with that all on his own.

We walked Anne to work again, staying some distance behind her, we could only hope that werewolf dude didn’t tell anyone about us and that he was telling the truth about hating Brian.

“Do you think he was telling the truth about Brian?” I asked Amdis.

He knew who I was talking about and said, “yes, his heart rate never changed, the blood in his veins didn’t pulse or move any faster.”

“That’s so creepy you can hear blood moving around in our bodies.”

He smiled. “Only when I focus on the sound.”

We watched Anne for a few days and nothing else happened, but on the fifth day it did. We walked her to work as always, and I was trying to tell Amdis to feed later because he still hadn’t done it.

He stopped me mid-sentence and quietly said, “there’s a werewolf nearby.”

“You can smell them?” I asked.

“Yes.” He was looking around trying to locate them, and then he did.

I followed to where he discreetly gestured and saw the werewolf. He was as tall as Amdis and built like a body builder, his muscles bulged more scarily than sexily.

He had light brown hair pulled in to a low ponytail. Everything about him screamed werewolf, something was off about him, and Amdis felt it too. “Come on,” he said, and I followed him.

It was a dark and miserable day and the street was eerily quiet. Amdis walked as silently as the night and came up behind the werewolf, catching him off guard. To be so quiet, a werewolf couldn’t hear you was almost unheard of.

“Who the f**k are you,” he snarled at Amdis.

“I was just passing by and wondering if you are ok, you seem a little tense and unsure of your surroundings,” Amdis lied as smooth as butter.

“I’m fine, just waiting for a friend.”

“Oh nice, would this be a girlfriend by any chance?” I stood back and listened as Amdis talked to him like a genuinely interested passer-by.

“Yeah, it is actually, I want to surprise her and take her on a date after she finishes work.”

“How lovely, I’m sure she will enjoy that. Well, it was very nice meeting you?”

The werewolf took Amdis’ outstretched hand and shook it. “Brian,” he said.

“Nice meeting you, Brian, I shall leave you to wait for your lady.”

Amdis walked back over to me and pulled me along until we were around the corner and out of sight.

“Why did you leave him there?” I whispered because I didn’t want to risk werewolf guy hearing us with his good hearing.

“It’s too public, we don’t want anyone to get caught in the crossfire.”

“No one besides us is here right now.”

“It’s still better to be cautious, I caught the glint of a knife in his back pocket and I could smell chloroform, so I assume he has a cloth soaked in it.”

“Oh god, he wants to kidnap her and worse?”

“I fear so.”

When Anne finished work and came out, Brian followed her and we followed him.

“Amdis, I think we should do something, he’s catching up to her, I swear I can see him slowly getting closer, like he’s getting ready to grab her.”

Amdis nodded, and we caught up to Brian, I saw him put his hand in his pocket to pull something out and without hesitating I followed my instincts and kicked the back of his legs, making him fall to the floor.

Anne heard the commotion and turned to see us all, she looked at Brian and screamed at him, “leave me alone!”

He ignored her and looked up at me and then Amdis. “Who the f**k ARE you?” He growled at Amdis.

“More than just a friendly passer-by, why do you have a knife and chloroform, Brian?”

“None of your f*****g business!” He got back on to his feet and moved so Inhumanly fast, I didn’t see it coming when he punched me in the face. I fell to the floor and adrenaline must have helped numb the pain, I got up and pulled my sword out, and he laughed at me. “What you going to do with that, you stupid ugly b.itch.”

“Cut your head off, hopefully,” I smiled sweetly at him.

My sweet fake smile enraged him, and he tried to swing at me again, but I ducked. “Why are you stalking Anne?” I asked.

“I’m in love with her and I need to make her see that.”

“By kidnapping her and using a knife on her? Oh yeah, she will totally fall in love with you after,” I replied sarcastically.

“f***k you, someone like you wouldn’t understand, you’re just a f.ucking ugly piece of s.hit, bet you haven’t even been f.ucked in your whole life,” he sneered.

That cut deep and I tried to ignore it, but he seemed to notice it had affected me and smiled cruelly. “True, is it? You still a little virgin that wants her p*****. f.ucked? Your whole face screams desperate.”

His words upset me and I lost control of myself for a moment, both crying and filled with anger, I lashed out with the sword and cut his arm, making it bleed heavily. He jumped back when I slashed again, and Amdis came running over from where he had been seeing to Anne.

He jumped in front of me and said, “put the sword down, we can’t kill him.”

“What! Why not!” I yelled.

I only grew more furious, seeing Brian smirk at me. I slashed out at him again, but Amdis blocked the sword with his bare arms, he wasn’t even left with a scratch.

“Rochelle, please calm yourself.”

“The job is to protect the client at all times!” I snapped.

“And we shall, but he belongs to a pack, first we have to go by their rules and bring him to his alpha to deal with, if the alpha won’t then all bets are off, and we kill him.”

I yelled in frustration and threw the sword to the floor angrily. Brian wasn’t smirking anymore, he looked terrified when Amdis had mentioned the alpha. Good.

Amdis cuffed him, I didn’t even know he had handcuffs. He looked at Brian and warned him, “don’t try running, I know who your alpha is and with or without you, I will be speaking with him.”

Turning back to me, he came over and gently placed his hands on my shoulders, stopping me from pacing. “Calm down, my pet, it is ok.”

He sent a wave of calmness and comfort through our bond, and slowly I relaxed and hugged him. “He was saying such horrible things, he was right, but it still hurt, and I lost control, I’m sorry,” I mumbled against his chest.

Stroking my hair, he replied, “it is ok, and I am sure whatever he said was not true at all.”

“It was true, he said I’m still a virgin because no man wants me, and I’m so ugly.”

He moved me away from his chest to look down at me and holding my face between both his hands, he said, “that is not true, you are beautiful, and you have the most beautiful and kindest soul.”

“Pfft, you don’t even want me,” I whispered.

He was quiet for a moment, and then he quietly said, “that is not true either.”

“You only want me as a pet, as a friend, you wouldn’t want to have s**x with me.”

He stroked my hair from my face and giving me a small smile, he said, “that is very untrue.”

I looked up at him wide-eyed. “What! Please explain!”

Laughing softly, he said, “I may not want to fall in love, but I certainly wouldn’t say no to a night of passion with you.”

My cheeks grew hot when he said that, I was blushing so bad and I felt tingly in my body, his words both excited me and turned me on.

“You turned me down when I was in heat,” I whispered.

“That was for your sake, you want love and romance, for me, it would only be a night of passion, for you, it would mean so much more, I would not wish for you to lose your virginity outside of a loving relationship.”

“But you find me attractive?” I asked.

“Very much so, now let’s get this wolf back to his alpha.”

I was so happy, if he was attracted to me, then maybe with time and effort I could make him fall in love with me too!

Brian sneered at me as I walked by him and quietly said, “you don’t really believe him, do you? He was just being nice to make you feel better.”

I tried to ignore him while Amdis spoke with Anne. Leaning in closer to me, he said, “has he ever said he finds you attractive before? Has he even ever tried to f***k you?”

I ignored him, but his words hit me deep, knowing Amdis, Brian was probably right, and he just wanted to make me feel better. Not once had he ever shown an interest in me sexually.

Amdis had told Anne to go home, and then he grabbed Brian and pulled him along as we walked.

No one tried to talk, and it was silent as we walked, we walked for a while until we were out of the town area and came upon a big home with woods at the back of it. Amdis knocked on the door and we waited.

A big muscular man opened the door, he had gorgeous long blonde hair, it was straight and looked silky soft. He had pale blue eyes, but I knew with strong emotion they would turn to his wolf’s gold.

He was wearing a grey t-shirt that was stained with oil marks, and it had a tear in it, exposing some of his abs. He wore black sweatpants and boots. I didn’t realise I was staring until Amdis nudged me and murmured, “quit staring at the pretty alpha.”

“Sorry,” I whispered.

The alpha clearly could hear us, and he smirked even though his eyes stayed fixed on Brian. “Why have you brought my wolf back to me in handcuffs?”

Amdis in his cold and professional tone said, “he has been stalking a human lady for quite a while now, making her life quite difficult and his behaviour has been escalating, today we caught him with a knife and chloroform. We work for the national supernatural arms, we bring him to you in hopes you can make sure he never bothers this lady again, if he does return, then we will however, have no choice but to permanently put an end to it.”

The alpha met Amdis’ eyes, he knew what he meant by permanently putting an end to things. He looked back at Brian with a look so heated I was scared for him and what he would do to him, I could see in his eyes he was certainly going to punish Brian painfully.

“Brian, have you still not accepted that Anne is not interested in you? I thought you stopped this nonsense months ago, and now you’ve sought more drastic actions by bringing a knife while you follow her?”

Brian looked up at him but made sure not to make eye contact. “I’m sorry alpha, I just love her so much, she’s the one for me.”

“She is not your true mate,” the alpha said.

“If she would just let me talk to her and explain, I’m sure I could make her realise she’s all I want,” Brian said desperately.

“She doesn’t want you!” I snapped at him. He was triggering me a little with my own past traumas, I hadn’t meant to snap.

“f***k you, you f.ucking desperate little virgin b.itch.”

The alpha grabbed Brian by his hair and pulled his head back painfully to look into his eyes, and he growled, “do not talk so disgustingly.”

Brian grew quiet and kept his head down low, and the alpha looked at me. “I’m sorry he has been so rude and such a problem for you, but I promise you both I will personally deal with him, he won’t bother Anne again.”

Amdis bowed to him politely and we left. We explained everything to Anne, and she seemed happy, she trusted the alpha’s words, it sounded like they knew one another personally. She had paid for a month of protection, so although she was most likely safe now, Amdis had us stay to make sure and also so that she didn’t waste her money.

We followed her to work for a week, and then we slowly started allowing her to go alone. It seemed like the alpha really had dealt with Brian, and then it was the last day for us. We stuck around until she returned home from work, and then we said our goodbyes.
