Once we had left, I said, “what’s the next job?” “Calm down, my eager little pet, we are not even back at the base yet,” he smiled while driving. I enjoyed the drive, but it was late when we got back and Amdis gently woke me up. He was on my side of the door and had opened it up, the cold breeze sure helped wake me. I weakly climbed out, and he took my hand, steadying me. “Can I sleep with you?” I asked tiredly. “That is not allowed here, we cannot stay in one another’s rooms.” I leaned against him and then stood up straighter, “you feel too cold right now anyway.” He didn’t say anything, and I asked, “why are you being so weird about feeding?” “I’m not, I will feed tomorrow.” “Good.” I patted his shoulder, making him roll his eyes, and then we said goodnight and headed to our ow
