Rory's POV
“Say something,” Tessa pleaded, her voice cracking."Is there anyone?"
I stared at her, unable to breathe, my chest tight as if an iron band was squeezing the air from me. The silence between us pressed heavy, filled only with the thrum of my heart.
“I don’t know, Tess,” I said at last, my voice breaking. “I don’t really know anyone who can help me. Please… help me.”
Her lips trembled. Her wide brown eyes brimmed with tears that finally spilled, rolling hot down her cheeks.
“I can’t,” she choked, shaking her head violently. “If I were strong enough, if I weren’t just an omega, I would’ve helped you myself. I swear I would’ve fought the whole pack for you.”
Her sob tore through the small space, and my stomach knotted. She was the only who's ever been a genuine friend to me,
