Rory's POV The door opened, my lungs locking in terror until the figure stepped in, and relief flooded me so hard my knees nearly buckled. “Tessa?” I breathed, the syllables breaking apart on my tongue. Her wide brown eyes scanned me quickly, her nose twitching with sharp, rapid inhales. Then she froze. “Aurora…” Her voice dropped into a low murmur that quivered with unease. “You smell… strange.” She stepped closer, her nostrils flaring again as though the scent were shredding at her senses. “You smell like… like you’re—oh my God.” She slapped a hand over her mouth, but it was too late. “What?” I asked, my voice high-pitched and shaking.
