Electing a Sheriff

The Saintlight Hall was built by the villagers of Saintlight Village for worshipping the Saintlight Divine Tree. It was located at the village entrance. The hall was constructed from snow cedar wood, a material unique to the Taya Ice Plains. The hall was shaped like a three-dimensional triangle. Two sides were solid wooden walls used for entry and exit. The third side, facing the divine tree, was a semi-open wall, normally covered by a curtain. When the curtain was drawn open, those inside the hall could take in the full majesty of the divine tree.Led by Lei Meng, Ming Yue, her heart filled with apprehension, walked into the Saintlight Hall. Inside stood six people: Ba Diyou, Satan, Bizeros, Foxiu, Xia Na, and Lu Ou. The expressions on their six faces varied—some cold, some amiable, some worried—reflecting their different states of mind.Ming Yue tightened her grip on Fei Tuo's hand. Fei Tuo remained as calm and composed as ever, saying only one phrase: "Don't worry. I will stand by your side and protect you." Hearing this familiar mantra from Fei Tuo, Ming Yue's uneasy heart quickly settled.Satan stood in the center of the hall and said, "You should already know what has happened."Fei Tuo, holding Ming Yue's hand, stopped opposite Satan, clearly forming a separate camp from the several people standing ahead. Fei Tuo said, "I know the Village Chief is dead. But we are not the murderers."Satan said, "Today we will conduct the Judgment of the Holy Light. The wolf-kin will have nowhere to hide."Fei Tuo said, "Correct. So right now, as good people, our hearts are very steady."Satan said, "Good. They said if there's anything, you, Old g*n, can make the decisions for them." As he finished speaking, he scrutinized Ming Yue from head to toe, not quite believing she could be the wolf-kin everyone was talking about.Kashan brushed back her hair and said, "Since it's a village matter, I must certainly come and have my say." As she spoke, she cast a flirtatious glance at Lu Ou, who reciprocated by blowing her a kiss with knowing complicity. Xia Na witnessed this and secretly delivered a vicious pinch to Lu Ou's waist. Lu Ou yelped in pain. Everyone's eyes turned towards him. He waved his hand dismissively: "Oh, it's nothing, nothing. Just a mosquito bit me." Satan asked, puzzled: "In this world of ice and snow, where would a mosquito come from?"Kashan pressed her lips together in a smile and turned her head away from Lu Ou. She said to Ba Diyou, "Old g*n can't even get his own affairs in order. Entrusting him with decisions? I can't set my mind at ease."Ba Diyou chuckled: "Good that you came, good that you came.
