Chapter Fourteen
Lir glanced up when he heard the front door open and tilted his head to the side a bit as he saw Dimitri enter the hardware store, followed by Adira. He smiled, about to tell them how great it was for them to stop in when he noticed the somber looks on their faces. Instead, he dropped the inventory he was placing on the shelves and walked over to them, a sinking feeling twisting his chest. His first thought was that something had happened to the twins. “What’s wrong?”
Dimitri glanced around the store before turning his attention back to Lir. “Think we can talk for a moment?” He glanced around at the busy store once more. “In private.”
Lir nodded and then called out for Rusty to take over for him. “Let’s step into my office.” He pointed toward a door along the east wall
