Flawless
Chapter 1
The sleek red sports car glided to a smooth halt right in front of the venue, its polished exterior gleaming under the city lights. Before the engine even quieted down, her driver moved briskly around the hood to open the passenger door with practiced precision.
Elena stepped out, immediately captivating everyone nearby. Her crimson gown matched the vibrant shade of her car perfectly, flowing around her with every effortless step. She stood tall, radiating an undeniable presence—a seamless blend of poise, absolute confidence, and quiet strength.
In an instant, the calm atmosphere dissolved. Cameras flashed in a frantic rhythm, casting sharp bursts of light against the night. Microphones thrust forward, and a crowd of reporters swarmed toward the velvet ropes, their voices overlapping as they tried to catch her attention.
One reporter managed to push past the noise, holding out a microphone. "Elena! This night is a major milestone for you! You’ve worked so hard over the years, growing from a modest, well-known cosmetic store into an international beauty powerhouse—how would you say the journey has been?"
Elena paused, meeting the reporter's eyes with a brilliant, composed smile. She didn't rush to answer. Instead, she took a breath, letting the moment hang in the air while shutter clicks continued to echo all around her.
"The journey," Elena said, her voice smooth, clear, and rich with grace, "was never about just building a business. It was about proving that quality, authenticity, and unwavering standards speak for themselves. Every late night, every challenge, and every hurdle only proved that when you build something on true substance, nothing can stand in your way."
She offered a final, captivating smile to the flashing cameras, adjusted the train of her gown, and swept up the steps toward the grand entrance—a woman entirely in control of her world.
Inside the VIP lounge, the quiet hum of air conditioning replaced the chaotic roar of flashbulbs and shouting reporters. Elena leaned back against the plush velvet sofa, taking a slow, deliberate sip of sparkling water as she let her heels rest for a brief second.
A moment later, the double doors clicked open, and her personal assistant, Lucy, hurried into the room. Holding an iPad in one hand and clutching her clipboard in the other, Lucy’s eyes were wide with excitement.
"Elena, you need to see this right now," Lucy said, tapping rapidly on the tablet screen before holding it out. "The red car? The matching red gown? It’s completely breaking the internet. You’re trending number one worldwide, and the press is already calling you the 'Crimson Heiress.'"
Elena tilted her head, a soft smile of satisfaction touching her lips as she glanced down at the live feed. "As they should, Lucy. It’s called branding."
"Oh, it gets better—or well, interesting," Lucy chuckled, scrolling through the top-voted comments on the viral video. She cleared her throat and read one aloud in an exaggerated, sweet tone: "‘Oh my god, she is so cute!’"
Elena paused midway through taking another sip. She slowly set her glass down on the marble table, her eyes widening in sheer disbelief.
"Cute?" Elena repeated, her voice rising an octave. She let out a dramatic, sarcastic laugh, pressing a manicured hand to her chest as if genuinely offended. "Did someone actually just use the word cute to describe me?"
Lucy bit her lip, trying—and failing—to hold back a laugh as she nodded.
"I just stepped out of a five hundred horsepower, custom-engineered red sports car in a floor-length designer gown, looking like a powerful, independent mogul," Elena declared, throwing her hands up dramatically as she paced the length of the lounge. "Dangerous? Yes. Breathtaking? Absolutely. Unreachable? 100%. But cute? Who calls a woman stepping out of a supercar cute? What am I, a golden retriever puppy in a bowtie?!"
Lucy wiped a tear of laughter from her eye before checking her watch. The screen lit up with a barrage of urgent notifications from the event coordinators.
"Alright, as much as I'd love to debate whether supercars can be cute, we have a multi-million dollar launch to execute," Lucy said, stepping into her path and holding out a compact mirror. "The stage managers are breathing down my neck. You're up in two minutes."
In an instant, the dramatic theatricality vanished. Elena took a smooth, deep breath, smoothing down the front of her crimson gown. She checked her reflection, adjusted her posture, and locked a radiant, dazzling smile into place—the picture-perfect image of an untouchable beauty icon.
"Watch and learn, Lucy," Elena purred, instantly stepping past her and gliding toward the grand double doors leading to the main stage.
"Hey, wait up!" Lucy called out, clutching her tablet to her chest as she jogged a few steps to catch up with Elena's long, confident stride. "Are you really okay going out on that stage completely alone? No co-host, no safety net?"
"Why not?" Elena replied without breaking her stride, her smile remaining flawless as she greeted a passing waiter with a subtle nod. "I built this empire alone. I can certainly handle a stage alone."
Lucy smirked, leaning in slightly as they reached the backstage curtain. Since they had been close friends long before Lucy became her manager, she couldn't resist sliding in a cheeky jab. "And that is exactly why you should get a husband. Someone to share the spotlight—or at least hold your mic."
Elena stopped right at the edge of the curtain, turning her head to give Lucy a dry, sarcastic laugh.
"Very funny, Lucy," Elena said, rolling her eyes with affectionate, fond annoyance. "I'd rather hire another assistant."
With one last wink at Lucy, Elena turned around, stepped into the glaring spotlights, and let the roar of the applauding crowd wash over her.
