Marcus's POV
"Well, what did she say?" I urged at Liam.
They came back after lunch a bit gloomy at least Liam was. Edward, he was trudging along while holding Liam's hand. I am happy for them though at least the girl being here pushed them to finally get together. I threw my files on the table and sat waiting for their reaction.
"She needs time." Edward sighed and rubbed Liam's hand.
"Just tell her I would pay whatever she wants."
I was getting frustrated with all she is an innocent girl kind of picture. No women can resist the money I have. I could get any women falling on my feet.
"What do you think of her?" Liam snapped.
I was taken back by his attitude. He never raised his voice at least not with me. I watched him as Edward asked him to calm down.
"Both of you, listen. Whatever picture you have of her. Delete it this damn moment. I agreed to your crazy idea and asked for help and she is willing to think about it for my sake. And you," he paused, pointing his finger at me "she isn't in for the money. If she says yes and you guys mess up and hurt her."
Liam stood up and groaned. "I would never forgive the both of you."
He stormed out of my room while cursing. I was dumbfounded with his attitude. I looked at Edward, he was as astonished as I was.
"Man, he just goes all mama bear when it is about her." I shrugged.
"You don't say. I am his boyfriend but he never gets this worked up."
I sighed as I watched Edward retreating back to his office. She must say yes or I would have to find a new candidate for this whole drama coming up. My mom is already fuming that I have been bunking all the dates. She even threatens me to give up my position if I don't get married soon. Like really? I have been giving my best to be here and how this company building is my hard work, how could she really think about firing me.
I pulled out a familiar frame from my drawer. As the pain crept through my skin as I gazed at the unfamiliar feelings displayed in the picture. I pushed away all my thoughts and threw that frame inside the drawer again. Pulling out my files I scanned word by word making sure everything is going by order with my work.
"Marcus Neil Joaquin"
My heads snapped up as my eyes fell on Liam who was looking at me apologetically with my dearest mother beside him with her fuming anger. I nodded at Liam, signalling him to get back to his work.
"Mother," I sighed and walked up to her.
"You stood up the date again?"
"I was busy, mother. I already told you but you still proceeded to arrange the date."
Two hours went by hearing her nagging. I listened patiently as she started threatening me. Before leaving she gave the cold glare as usual as she stormed out of my room.
