Thea's POV
The ticking of the clock felt like a needle pricking my skin as the silence and the stare continued. Mac sighed for the nth time. I glared at him, mentally saying that my return was a bad idea. I let my head hung low. Shame and guilt consumed me for leaving them, this, my family behind without even bothering to tell them what had happened. Only Liam conveyed my message that I wasn't dead and still alive away far away from the place I once called home.
"¿Hija?", my head perked up as my father called me in low voice. My eyes were already watering.
"Papa, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, " I paused as my tears fell and my hands started shaking as the memories rushed back in my mind, I clasped my hand tighter "I was scared and -"
I was cut off as a loud bang was heard from the front door and my heart just leapt. I knew just who was back and I knew things would get ugly from here. Peter came in view fuming with anger, he strode fast towards me as I stumbled away from my chair with ragged breath. I was beyond scared and my lips started trembling. The others gasped watching my horrified expression.
"Who asked you back here? You home wrecker, slut.", Peter shouted as he threw his briefcase at me.
I instantly fell covering my face as I whimpered and kept chanting Liam's name as if he could appear whenever to rescue me from everything like he always did.
"Peter, she is your sister! Stop it!" Dad loud demanding voice pierced my ears.
I flinched as Mac engulfed me into a hug. He was confused as to why I was this scared. I was never this way, I always fought back with Peter. That who I was and that Althea, she was no more, she died a long time ago.
"She is not my sister. Never will be. She wrecked our business and ran away like a coward after sleeping with some man on her engagement party. What kind of person could she be?"
"I never - " my eyes bulged in horror and I wailed. As if it was magic, Liam barged inside our house with long stride pushing Mac away and pulling me to his side. I buried my face into his shirt repeating how sorry I was.
"Peter, don't cross your line. You and this family never deserved Thea and never will." Liam fumed with anger.
Mom was standing by Peter's side, her eyes were judging like whatever Peter told him was who I was. While dad and Mac stood in the middle worried and yet angry with Peter and his absurd accusation. They would always stay by my side I knew that but I never missed the hesitation in their eyes when Peter mentioned the night of my engagement party.
"You knew, where she was but you never told? She broke us apart. Mom was hospitalized, she begged her to be back. Where was she then? When everything fell, when I could not even spend my time for my daughter and wife? We don't deserve her? Ha!" he laughed "She for f*****g sake deserves to die."
My heart stopped beating for a second, and my head started spinning. This was all overbearing for me. I clutched to Liam's shirt as my legs went limp.
"Peter, that's enough!" Mac screamed as a crying Sofia came to stand beside Peter.
"Papa, don't be mad. Is that aunty bad? Tell her to go?" she sobbed as my heart broke even harder.
Peter scooped his daughter up as he glared at me and said: "Get out and don't you dare coming back here."
The house went silent as Liam dragged me out of the house. As I stepped out, I blanked and fell limp on the ground only to be caught by someone. Everything went black except for the lingering pain in my heart never left.
