4.Turning a New Leaf

Serenity’s POV:

Sunday had passed and Monday creeped in swiftly

In the blink of an eye, I was back at school and my weekend had ended

All weekend I reminisced about my encounter with Sebastian

I never thought seeing him just once would evoke all my past emotions

But it did

And now I felt like that 14-year-old girl that was head over heels for him

But there wasn't a change for me anyways

Not anymore at least

I pushed the thoughts of Sebastian out of my head and started to write the notes that the teacher was dictating

Somehow I found myself drawing tiny ice creams and hearts along the edges of my notebook page

I managed to stop myself and erase them but I knew I couldn't erase my feelings for him

As the bell rang for lunch I gathered my bag and books and walked out

I turned to the end of the hallway which would lead me to the courtyard but a voice called out to me

"Hey, Serenity!"

I turned around to see Sebastian jogging toward me and my heart skipped a beat

"Hey Sebastian what's up?" I asked calmly but my insides were melting

"I wanted to ask if you would sit with me in the caf," he asked nervously

Awwwwww he's so cute

"I know you're really trying to make it up to me but you don't have to take pity on me you're good the ice cream did the trick," I said with a small smile and I turned to walk away but he grabbed my hand

"No no no no you've got it all wrong I want you to sit with me....please," he said while looking into my eyes my hand still in his

Butterflies erupted in my stomach and I almost crumpled onto the floor

But I held my composure

"Ok fine you win" I replied and his smile lit up the entire room

He held my hand and pulled me into the cafeteria a place I had not set foot in

In months

The cafeteria was buzzing with chatter and laughter

And I felt a little jealous

Seeing friends eat together, laughing having a good time

Made me feel like I was missing out

The only friend I had was Julia but we haven't been talking much

I glanced around the cafeteria and saw her giggling with 2 other girls

And my heart dropped

She forgot about me

Everyone does

After staring for a couple of seconds I painfully tore my eyes away from Julia and paid attention to where Sebastian was bringing me

He made me get the cafeteria lunch first so I got

the cheeseburger fries and apple juice

apple juice is so much better than orange

Then he made a stop at a table with 2 guys sitting around and one girl

They all stopped what they were doing and stared at us

Sebastian then put a hand over my shoulder and my nervousness eased a bit

"Guys this is Serenity she's gonna be sitting with us today," he said with a smile

And I gave everyone a quick awkward smile

He sat me down beside him and started eating

And I awkwardly looked around awaiting the others to stop staring at me

"I'm Micheal nice to meet you," a brown skin guy said with a slight smile the voice and name sounded familiar

"Are you the Michael that called me from that party?" I asked

"Oh yes I am that Micheal Julia was a wreck"

"Thank you for calling me I really appreciate it," I said sincerely

"No problem Serenity"

"Hey" the blonde guy in the middle whispered as he leaned in closer to me

"Are you and this tramp dating?" he asked lowly which was unnecessary because everyone could hear him

I chuckled lightly as Sebastian hit him in the back of his head

With a small ow he leaned back and rubbed his head

"No we're not dating just Friends," I said ignoring how fast my heart was beating when we were sitting so close to each other

"I'm Rowan the sexiest person right here as you can clearly see," he said with a smirk

I raised an eyebrow amusedly and the others began debating who was better-looking

Rowan had blonde hair and green eyes

He had slightly off the thin side of lips and a defined face

I've got to admit he was good-looking

But he wasn't Sebastian good-looking

I looked around the table and the red-haired girl was still staring at me not saying a word

Tf is her problem

I ignored her gaze and began eating

She was really pretty though

She had small brown freckles scattered across her face

And her piercing hazel eyes

Scratch pretty she was gorgeous

The guys were all laughing and talking about the upcoming football game they had

I sat silently and listened

It's been a while since my ears were occupied with the sound of people chattering and not my once-violent thoughts

I quickly glanced at the red-haired girl whose name I'd come to learn was Maddison

And she was no longer staring at me but at her phone

She was quickly and aggressively typing

She looked really upset

She excused herself from the table and headed out

My gaze immediately followed her

I was curious to know what was happening but I wasn't gonna pry

I didn't even know the girl

After about 5 minutes I finished eating

I checked on the time and noticed it was 9:50

I had P.E at 10:00 so I decided it was best to leave now

I said goodbye to Sebastian Micheal and Rowan and headed out the door

I walked along the lonely hallway to make my way to the changing room

"WHAT THE f**k IS YOUR PROBLEM!" I heard a girl's voice shout

I paused and slightly jumped at the sound of lockers banging

I turned down the hallway and quickly walked towards the sound of the shouting

I froze when I saw a guy's fist in the air and a red-haired girl braced against the lockers

They both turned to face me

Maddison had a look of terror on her face

And the guy's eyes were filled with rage

On pure adrenaline, I ran up to him and pushed him with all my strength

He backed up off her and stumbled a good distance

I took Maddison by the hand and pushed her behind me

"Don't you ever put your filthy f*****g hands on her again" I hissed

"Oh yeah and what are you gonna do about it" he asked taking slow strides toward us

"JAMES, HOWELL AREN'T YOU supposed TO BE CHANGING AT THIS TIME" Coach Jordan's loud voice echoed from the end of the hallway

And I silently made a prayer to Thank God for sending my loud mouth coach

"And you MASON GET YOUR ASS TO CLASS NOW"

"Yes coach"

"This isn't over b***h" he whispered and walked off I let out a breath a did realize I was holding

"Are you okay?" I asked as I turned around to face Maddison

She was quiet and shaking

I gently rubbed her arm

She took a deep breath and then nodded

"Thank you" she whispered

“No problem”

"GIRLS" Coach Jordan's voice echoed once more

"WE'RE COMING!" I shouted back frustratedly

And Maddison began laughing

And suddenly I was laughing

And the whole moment that we had before was a bliss.
