Nicole's Pov
My mom drops the knife on the table and looks at me with a shocked and horrified expression. Then she swallows and says. "That must have been horrible. I never thought you would lose someone this soon."
She picks up the knife again and continues making food like this is nothing important. I look at Abby who encourages me to continue by nodding her head.
So I push a little harder. "Did you know there was a Blue Super Moon on Friday?"
My mom looks at me again but this time she has guilt written all over her face when she softly says. "You know."
Before I can ask my mom what is going on, my dad comes walking into the house. He smiles at me and Abby. He comes over and gives me a big bear hug.
