The demon in front of me was not moving but I am trembling. Kapag aalis ako dito, baka aattake siya sa kung saan. Nandito na ako kaya hindi ako aalis. Hindi ako tatakas. I’m not the same person as back then. I will never run away again. Inayos ko ang hawak ko habang tinititigan ang demonyo. Now that he’s close to me, ngyon ko lang napansin na ang buhok nito ay mataas. Sa sobrang taas nito, hindi makikit ang mga mata nito. I’d rather not see its eyes, malay natin tatlo ang mata nito.

I freaked out when he suddenly to one step forward at napaatras kaagad ako. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang biglang gumuho ang mga tentacles mula sa likoran niya. That’s the exact tentacle na kumuha sa soldier na iyon. My hands and legs are trembling and it won’t stop. There is no way I can fight this way. I need help.

The demon slowly raised it’s head at doon ko na nakita ang pagmumukha nito. It’s mouth was huge and he has the same teeth with a lion although his face was like human. Syempre, ang kinakatakutan ko- ang mga mata nito. I was wrong. I thought he has three eyes but no, he has six eyes- three on each sides. His eyes moved into different direction. I bet he can see things clearly in every direction. I am really in a big trouble right now. As if I have a choice, I mean I do have one- fight until they arrive. I will protect the people.

The demon suddenly smiled at tumulo haang napakaraming laway. The moment the saliva touched the ground, it let go a smoke. So it’s body fluids are poisonous huh? Too bad poisons don’t work on me. I just blinked and the next thing I knew, 8 tentacles were coming into my direction. I panicked for a bit but I have to remain stable. I jumped backwards to evade his tentacles. When the last tentacles landed on the ground, nabigla nalang ako na may sumulpot sa magkabilang gilid. Muntik na akong matusok talaga pero buti nalang nakailag pa ako. Well, natamaan nga ako ng konti at nasugatan pero it’s fine. It’s just some light scratch.

Kumunot ang noo ko habang tinitingnan ang demonyo and he suddenly took his tentacles back.

“Tapos ka na?” I asked ans I stood up straight. “I guess it’s my turn,” I added.

I took one step forward with magic molecules and the ground cracked. I used that step as a force at tumalon ako papunta sa demon. Hindi lang siya ang marunong umattake. The moment I was high enough, I summuned 8 vines as well na galing sa likoran ko rin at inatake ang demon. His tentacles and my vines are like our tails and they’re clashing on each other while we, the carrier of both are clashing too.

We both jumped away from each other and his smile vanished when his face had one scratch and it started bleeding. I have multiples of scratches compared to him but it doesn’t matter. I have to buy enough time.

Hindi na kami nagpaligoy-ligoy pa kaya muli naming inatake ang isa’t isa. He was giving poison to my vines but it doesn’t work because I am giving off poison to his tentacles too. It’s working but slow.

“Nuisance,” bigla niyang sabi and it caught me off-guard. This demon can talk? Nabigla nalang ako nang nandito siya sa harapan ko and his fist was aldready in my abdomen. Napasuka ako ng dugo and the next thing I knew, tumilapon na ako ng malayo. Almost 10 tents were wiped out dahil sa akin. I was about to stand up but then he was already on top of me. He suddenly summoned a weapon- a ball with thorns. He swayed it to land it on my face.

My timing was good enough to stop it through my sword but my abdomen hurts. Napakasakit at napasuka ulit ako ng dugo. My eyes widened when the sword began to c***k. Shi- Am I gonna die here? I summoned more vines ato stop my sword from breaking but he was really strong. He suddenly smiled and his saliva dripped into my arm.

“A-A-Aray,” I groaned. His saliva isn’t poisonous after all but it can burn. I tried my best to push him away but I just can’t. My body isn’t cooperating.

“K-Ka…” utal-utal kong sabi habang papalapit na sa akin ang weapon niya. “Kailani,” I whispered.

My eyes widened when the demon’s head flew away.

“A-Anong-” putol kong sabi nang makita ko si Kailani sa itaas. I’ve never seen him like that.

His eyes were glowing gold like a dragon. He looked furious- really furious. His scales suddenly appeared on his face and that’s when I realize that the reason why the demon’s head flew away because he kicked it. He landed behind me at tinadyakan ang katawan ng demonyo palayo kaya napabitaw na rin ako sa hawak kong sword. The moment I stopped holding the sword, nasira nga ito.

Gusto kong tumayo pero hindi ako makatayo. My abdomen hurts. Blood was dripping from my mouth and my arm was burnt. Kailani grabbed me at pinasandal niya ako sa mga sira-sirang pole mula sa tent.

“K-Kaila-” putol kong tawag nang makita ng mukha niya. Is this him? Is this really him/ Why is his expression like this? Why is his aura like this? He suddenly glanced at my arm at hinawakan ito. “Aray,” agad kong sabi kasi masakit nga.

“Tsk,” rinig ko. He raised his face up to me again and he touched my lip. He slid his fingers para tanggalin ang mga dugo na lumabas. “Anong gusto mong gawin ko sa demonyon iyon?” he asked but not in his usual tone. It’s not cheerful. It’s not cold. How can I explain this? It’s …a tone of a displeased person.

“Kailani,” tawag ko lang kasi hindi ko alam kung anong magiging reaction ko. He did not answer at binitawan niya ako.

“Whatever,” he said at tumayo siya. “I’m just gonna kill that piece of crap,” he added.

I glanced at the demon at naibalik niya nga ang ulo niya kaya mas nagulat ako. I glanced back at Kailani pero napatigil ako nang biglang may lumitaw na higanteng dragon sa likoran niya. It was golden dragon. It’s scales were like armor and it’s eyes were sharp. He looked furious as well.

“Mali ka ata ng taong inapi,” Kailani siad and the dragon vanished but some of his skin had scales already. “You filthy demon!” he shouted and he jumped towards the demon.

Nagulat ko nangtinadyakanniya ito at napigilan ng mga tentacles. I heard footsteps from a far and I saw Gin and Tempest na kararating lang. They looked tired and they were surprised to see me, wounded. They were about to go to me kaso nabigla kami nang may sumabog kaya napatingin kami doon. Kailani, he was kicking with flames and the moment it will land into something sumasabog ito. He is not smiling. He is not having fun. He is pissed off.

“Come one,” he said, “Ito lang ba?!” reklamo niya and it kicked its head. The head flew away into Gin and Tempest’s direction. I glanced at it at nandoon na sina Argo, Lor, Kali and Nieve. All of them were stunned.

I glanced back at Kailani and he stpped on the demon’s neck mabe to stop regenerating. I heard the demon shouted mula sa direction nina Gin. Hindi ako nagdalawang isip na tumayo at tumakbo papunta sa ulo. I did not hesitate at all as I stepped on it. The scream of the demon vanished and the rays of the moon started appearing. Napatingin ako sa itaas and that’s when I realized that the Pandora’s box closed. Napatingin ako kay Kailani.

He was just looking down at the demon he just defeated while his flames were around his foot.

“H-He just defeated an A Class Demon,” biglang sabi ni Gin at agad akong napatingin sa kanya. “A good candidate for Mahika Tournament indeed,” he added with a smile.

I tried my best to walk towards Kailani at napatingin siya sa akin nang napansin niyang malapit ako. His flames vanished and then he suddenly smiled at me cheerfully like nothing happened.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“I’m supposed to ask you that,” he replied at lumapit siya sa akin. He tapped my head like a shild at napayuko sabay ngiti.

“Thank you,” I whispered.

He saved me again.
