Sera's POV
The last thing we heard was the battle field thumps and thuds. My mouth was gagged and covered with a piece of handkerchief.
The lady next to me already fell unconscious. I screamed Dravon's name in my mind.
To no avail.
"Finally we got them. This is an opportunity." One of the assassins said in a wicked tone.
We were laid right on the floor. In darkness, no one around.
We were both tied, my heart pumped out fear. Our bodies were kicked to wake us.
The lady next to me opened her eyes and stumbled into me. I did the same.
The sword was at my neck as he asked my name, identity and how I got into Valdrakon.
"Who are you?" The sword gleaming right in front of me.
"I am Seraphina. A commoner in Valdrakon. I got there when I wasn't able to find accommodations." Something made me twist the story. If I told my true identity, he might kill me.
"And you." He pointed at the lady next to me.
"I am Amira Valdrakon. The sister to Dravon Valdrakon."
The assassin hissed. "You are out." He dismissed her.
"My question is why are you in Valdrakon? Where do you come from?"
"I come from the woods in duskborn. I suffered from hunger right before I was admitted in the kingdom."
The assassin looked annoyed. "I want you out of Valdrakon. Go, and never look back."
"Where can I possibly go?" I said. Beads of sweat covered my face. The intense moment gripped my nerves.
"I don't care about that. There were possible ways you survived in the woods. Return to the woods to survive." He strangled me. "Staying in Valdrakon will put an end to your life. In a way you would not like. Now run, let me see you."
I crept backwards, nodding my head.
"No I can't." Not when I remembered Dravon cares a lot about me. And also I can use that advantage to take revenge on my enemies.
"She's going nowhere. She's like a sister to me." Amira tried loosening her rope.
"Shut it right there!" He faced and commanded Amira. "You are testing my patience." He drove his fist into my stomach.
A sudden hit back.
The shadow shaped a muscled man. That must be Dravon. His eyes red in outrage. Face stiffened.
Cyrene rushed to untie me, while his soldiers fought with the assassins.
"Sera, is everything okay? Are you hurt." Cyrene pretended to care asking me those questions.
Kael untied and carried Amira bridal style, he gazed at her and said some words to her.
"Why did you sneak out at night? Are you that daft. Dravon is your shield and I am your only protector." Kael's calculating eyes and scolding voice got me thinking.
"I stumbled on Seraphina. My eyes caught her." Amira's voice shook.
"Let every blame fall on me Kael. I let Amira out, I left her in the middle of danger. I should have thought well."
"At least they are safe now that's what matters." Cyrene embraced Amira. "Sodak capture the last one, he will be executed and also will explain why he did this."
"Yes my lady." He bowed and obeyed her command.
I knew it was all fake. Cyrene despised Amira and I. Suddenly she's acting like a saint like she cares. I know fully well she planned all this. She's the only one that wants me out of the palace.
Dravon carried me in his arms and walked out of the dark. The moon light was fully out. Cascading over Dravon and me.
He laid me on his lap on his palanquin. The soldiers lifted it. Cyrene and Dravon were meant to sit there. Cyrene mounted the horse with resentment at seeing me close to Dravon. All she did was lip service. She frowned her face at me. I ignored her expression.
We passed through the woods. I felt a certain affection stirred inside me. I reminisced when I passed through the woods with ragged and torn clothes, half naked. The cold was intensifying. It stripped me to the bone and cracked my muscles.
I pressed myself closer to Dravon. Right on the palanquin he took his robe off and covered me. I wrapped my arms around him. Daydreaming in his arms.
I also noticed how Kael was stylishly affectionate towards Amira. He ran his hands over Amira. Rubbing the back of her head. He draped his fingers down to her waist. Cupping her hips.
As the eastern gate opened, only Dravon and I were announced. Not even his sister or Cyrene.
Gazing back to see Cyrene's reaction. She adjusted her seat and straightened her back on the horse. She expected to be announced. Her face burned with more fury.
Kael known to tackle and expose Cyrene. He also noticed the expression on her face. He loves to trick and fool her.
"Our Luna. Lady Cyrene. Why are you looking outraged and pale." Kael said aloud.
It caught Dravon's attention.
"Nothing much. It's panic attack, I thought half of the kingdom were killed. I am not pleased with the way the moon goddess ceremony went." She twisted her hair. "What if people were killed and injured, most especially Amira and our precious Seraphina."
The soldiers halted. They laid Dravon's palanquin to rest. He carried me bridal style and left. He rushed through the audience and headed to take me straight to his chambers. Cyrene stood still at the door and stopped him.
"You can't Dravon. It's absolutely wrong to take her to my chambers. The room is ours, on our Luna night." Cyrene pushed Dravon back.
He turned, taking me to my quarters. He finally laid me on my bed. He rested my head on his lap. I shifted between his thighs.
He moved my head back. He soaked his handkerchief in lukewarm water and pressed it on my head. He massaged through. Tracing his fingers through my hair down to my chest.
It got Cyrene triggered.
