CONFESSION TIME.

1683 Words
The following day, David woke up feeling a little more refreshed, however, dread still lured over him, like a black cloud, knowing that he has to have a conversation with Mark about his finding’s. 2 Question’s ran through David’s mind, does he wait and investigate into the matter more, like Lucy said? Or, does he speak to Mark as a friend? And hope that he can get some answers. David knew of the risk’s, that this may lead to the potential end of their long lasting friendship. Meanwhile, over at Mark’s house, Mark was also getting ready for work, having had no sleep at all, as he couldn’t get what had happened with Lucy the night before, out of his mind. He was constantly fearing what Lucy could and would do to him. Mark decided he needed to come clean with David, and tell him the truth of his financial situation. So he took a deep breath, and left the house with a boom of plucked up courage. David and Mark arrived at the dealership at the same time. As David unlocked the door, Mark looked around, and noticed that Lucy was walking towards them. Dressed in her best suit, skirt, tights and heel’s, she was obviously heading to work herself. Mark became scared and shaken, as she approached the pair. Mark quickly turned to David and said “i need to talk to you about some bits and bobs, but i need to tell you something about Lucy too”. David could see the urgency in his eyes. Lucy joined them and said with an energetic joy in her voice “hello”. David turned and was shocked and surprised to see her. “what are you doing here”? David asked. Lucy replied as though nothing had happened “I just thought, I’d see if you want to get a coffee later”? Overjoyed David told her “Mark needs to have a meeting with me, so i can after that, so shall we say 10 30 at Jen’s cafe?” Lucy smiled a cherry blossom smile of warmth and love. But, Mark knew different. She gave David a kiss on the cheek, and turned to walk off too work, making no acknowledgement of Mark at all. David watched her, like he was an alone dog, watching their owner going out, and walking down the pathway. After Lucy gave Mark the cold shoulder, Mark pulled David into the building and said “we need to chat, now”! Mark pulled David over to their office and closed the door behind them. Mark started by saying “I need to tell you something. Something that I’ve been doing”. David kind of knew where he was going with this conversation, but he decided to play dumb to the situation. “I haven’t been honest with you”, Mark cried. “I’ve fallen behind on my mortgage. My council tax is mounting up because, i’m trying to make ends meet.” As Mark welled up, David sat with sympathy, and asked, “why did you never tell me”? Mark sobbed “but that’s not the worst of it. I have been working for a drug dealer and doing his collection’s and pocketing the money”. David sat back in his chair, in absolute disbelief. Angered by Mark’s stupidity, he asked “is that why your stealing money from me”? Mark cried harder and pleaded with David “i’m so sorry”. David was starting to well up himself, as he dared to ask “how much do you owe? And how much have you stole from me”? Mark sat quiet, before answering “I owe in total about £100,000 to the bank, and the dealers. But I’ve taken about £35,000 from you”. By this point David was raged by his confession, but he desperately tried to keep his cool”. Mark continued, by saying “I need to talk to you about Lucy”. David was intrigued to listen to what Mark had to say. With a quiver of fear in his voice, Mark told David “You need to get rid of Lucy”. Confused, David asked, “why”? Mark continued, “she’s. I don’t really know how to tell you”. David got impatient and exclaimed, “well, spit it out man”! Mark composed himself, and whispered, “she’s a witch”. David giggled and asked Mark, “what are you on about”? Mark tried to convince David, but David was not having any of it, so Mark told David of the events of the night before. He cried, “she came to my house last night. She attacked me, and she also attacked Emma”. David couldn’t believe what Mark was telling him, and was shocked to hear Mark accusing Lucy of assault. So David argued. “how dare you! You use your own daughter as bait to this crap”. Mark tried more desperately to win David over, and get him to believe him. Mark sobbed, “she lifted me into the air by raising her hand, she choked Emma and me by the clench of her fist, she smashed everything in my hallway with a crunch of her fingers, she slammed the front door with a wave of her hand. What else am i supposed to tell you”? David could see the seriousness in his eyes, so David started to try and calm Mark down. David guided Mark over to his chair, and helped him sit down. Mark placed his head into his arms on the desk, and started to weep. David told Mark. “You need to go home and get some rest, we can deal with this tomorrow maybe”. David turned to see Lucy at the main door to the dealership, so David said “oh look, there’s Lucy now, let’s get her in here for a chat”. Mark rushed up and grabbed David by the arm. “Don’t”. He exclaimed with terror. He continued to inform David “if she find’s out that i told you. She’ll hurt the girls and me”. David could see the desperation in his eyes although, he just thought that Mark was having some sort of mental break down. So to humour him, David reassured Mark “fine i won’t say anything. But please go home and chill out, the girls are off on half term, go home and snuggle down with them, take the day off”. Mark opened the office door, and dared to walk past Lucy, who was stood on the forecourt, waiting to see David. Mark held his head low, and walked past Lucy, but, Lucy watched him as he scurried off, towards the main doors to go out to his car. As if she knew something about what Mark had told David? David stuck his head out of the office door and asked, “you’re early”? Lucy smiled and replied, “do you mind if we go for a coffee now? I’ve just found out i have a client meeting later. I think i need to replace my P A, she’s useless”. Surprised, David gladly picked up his jacket and shouted to the work force, “i’m nipping out, i’ll be back in an hour or so”! The pair walked out of the building and over to Jen’s cafe hand in hand. Lucy walked in, closely followed by David. She asked the lady behind the counter, can we have two coffees for the table in the corner please”? David looked around and realised it was table 6, the table that they first met at the other day. But he also did notice that there was 2 gentlemen sat at the same table, so David informed Lucy “there’s people sat there.” Lucy said “huh, oh they’ll be gone in a minute.” Confused David asked “how’d you know”? Lucy didn’t answer but looked over towards them and secretly wiggled her fingers, which, unbeknown to the gent’s and David, started to control their minds, Lucy said, “they’ll get up and go now”. This controlled the men into leaving the table, but with David none the wiser, to what she had just done. And sure enough, the men got up and left the cafe, beyond their control. Amazed that Lucy was right, he giggled and walked over to the table with his coffee and took a seat. Lucy took her coffee and soon joined David over at the table. As they both swigged their coffees, Lucy asked, “how did your meeting go with Mark”? David huffed in frustration and shook his head, and told Lucy, “i think, he’s having some sort of mental break down. He’s financially screwed, but it’s the other bits he was saying, that’s when my concerns grew”. Lucy frowned and asked “what other bits”? David realised he shouldn’t have said that, and hid behind his cup and said “oh, it’s nothing. It’s silly really”. Lucy wanted to know what David meant, so she quizzed, “go on, who am i going to tell? Do you not trust me”? David really didn’t want to upset her, so he told her with a chuckle, “he said that you were a witch and you attacked him and his girls last night, with your magic powers”. The conniving and cunning Lucy laughed and asked, “where did he get that crap from? he must have dreamt it”. David sympathized with Mark and told Lucy, “I’m generally worried for him”. As David was talking, she sat drinking her coffee, deep in thought. Lucy started plotting her revenge against Mark.
