The marriage between Kane Walker and Veronica Taylor was a city hit. Veronica was now a household name after her prestigious marriage to Kane Walker.
His father, Mr. Miguel Walker showered her with a lot of gifts and goodies. Kiara, her best friend, was the most joyous person in the wedding. She smiled and cheered as if she was the one getting married.
"Do you like it?" Kane asked Veronica after noticing how she was staring at one of the gifts his father gave to her, a necklace.
"It's beautiful and expensive," She answered him. "And yes, I love it." She was so happy, her level of euphoria could not be tamed or over emphasized.
"My dad likes you a lot," Kane said as he made a right turn into the next street.
"Do you know why?" Veronica asked him.
"It's because you are a very thoughtful, beautiful, diligent and hardworking woman," Kane said. It was more like that was how he saw her.
Veronica blushed and she couldn't even look at Kane. "Is that also what you think of me too?" She asked, impatiently waiting for an answer.
"Well, I - I Uhm - I think that's what you are." He struggled, but he was able to say it
"Is that why you chose me?" She smirked in order to cover her shyness.
"Of course, that's why I chose you." He confessed.
"Thank you," she said to him.
"No, thank you," he told her. "Because of you I am this close to achieving my dream of being the CEO of the Walker's Cooperation."
They had a very good chat as the car cruised to the location designated for their honeymoon. Mr. Miguel Walker was the one who planned everything, the wedding and the honey moon, that was how excited he was about the whole thing.
"My dad has always looked forward to the day when he sees me settle down and start a family of my own."
"And yet you still played him today?" Veronica said sarcastically. She laughed and so did Kane.
"That's what happens when you try to force someone to do what they are not ready for." Kane spoke some sense there. He was not known to say anything with such deep sense.
"I understand how you feel," she told him.
"I think we'll get along pretty well, " he told Veronica with a flick of a smile on his lips.
"You think so?" She asked him, with a gracious smile on her lips.
He nodded in affirmation to what he had earlier said.
"That will be good then," she told him.
When they arrived at the mansion, it was more than what Veronica had expected. The luxury of the place, the flowers that adorned the surroundings, Veronica was mesmerized.
"Wow, this is art!" She said out of excitement.
"Everything is art to you?" He asked her with a cheeky smile.
"I'm just admiring it," she said to him.
"Don't mind me Veronica," Kane laughed. "You are free to do whatever you feel like. Do not let me stop you." He winked at her and went ahead of her inside the house.
Veronica quickly took out her camera and captured some of the flowers. It was what she did and would later paint them.
"The other rooms are messy, my grandfather must have ordered only this to be cleaned. He thinks we are actually married and we'll have to sleep together."
"So we have to stay together in this room?" Veronica asked Kane and his reply was yes.
"Won't you undress?" He asked after noticing she was just sitting mute on the bed as he took off his ceremonial clothes.
"In front of you?" She asked in a very timid voice.
"Is anything wrong with that?" Kane asked.
"Totally, there is everything wrong with that," she said to him.
He walked up to her as she sat on the bed. He was bare bodied and she couldn't take her eyes off his impressive masculine physique. His broad chest was also the most attractive feature on his body to her.
"What are you - what are you trying to do?" She said in a tense, cold voice. She shivered when his hands slightly touched her skin.
"Please, don't," she said as his face turned to hers.
"Excuse me, you are sitting on my nightwear," he suddenly said to her.
She was feeling very embarrassed, she couldn't believe her mind went for the wrong thing, the most absurd thing.
Kane laughed:
"Please, don't." He mimicked Veronica's voice.
"What were you thinking?" He asked her.
She could not face him before, and now she felt like she should just vanish from his presence.
"Are you now mute?" Kane was still feeling himself. The arrogance in which he laughed. "Or you are now dumb?" He joked.
"Please can you leave so I can change into my night wear?" Veronica asked him. She felt intimidated by him. She wondered what was wrong with herself.
While he got his things ready to leave the room, he could hear her struggle to unzip her gown.
"Do you need help with that?" He asked her.
"No," she hastily replied. "I am fine."
"Are you sure?" Kane asked her.
"Would I lie to you?" She answered with a question. Would she lie? But he could see how she struggled to unzip the gown.
"Let me help you," Kane walked over to her and helped her with the zip, effortlessly.
He stood behind her after he unzipped her gown. Her heart was pounding, she didn't know exactly what he was doing standing behind her for so long even After unlocking her zip. She couldn't even get the mind to stare back at him.
"You smell really nice," he complimented her.
She tried not to but it wasn't possible, she blushed and giggled with a "thank you."
Just then, Kane's phone rang, it was his father's driver calling.
"What?!" He said immediately after he picked the call. His voice echoed in Veronica's ear.
"What is it?" She asked him.
His face was stale and uncertain. The sweat coming from his body was as if his pore had opened a bit wider.
"What's going on?" Veronica asked again.
He just grabbed his keys and ran off.
