Veronica locked herself in the room for more than two hours. She whimpered behind the door for as long as she stayed in the room.
"I am sorry Veronica," he begged her to at least hear him out but she refused.
"Go away, I hate you!" She screamed from inside the bedroom. "I hate myself even more for falling for a man like you."
"Allow me to speak to you, please."
No matter what Kane said, no matter how much he pleaded, she refused to open the door or to even speak with him.
She overheard him speaking to his father over the phone.
"Sorry dad, my wife fell ill and so we couldn't make it," he lied to his father, Miguel Walker, over the phone.
"Oh, do not bother calling her father. She is fast," he deterred his father from calling her to find out.
Early in the morning she woke up and left for her Friend's place, Kiara. She stayed there for almost the whole day and ignored all calls from Kane. She wished she could just leave him and the entire contract marriage but it was a bit too late because she had already benefitted partly by securing her Art Gallery. Even so, a part of her yearned for Kane Walker.
"I have been worried sick about you," Kane said to her when she returned home that night. He was relieved, he thought something bad had happened to her.
"I'm fine, thanks for asking." She answered him sluggishly and attempted to go up to her room when he stopped her.
"Listen to me," he grabbed her waist firmly and whispered into her ears. "I love you Veronica, I do. Whatever happened between me and That lady was more than four years ago. It's in my past now."
Unlike the previous day, she didn't push him away, she didn't yell at him. She just stood there without saying a word.
She looked into his eyes:
"Look me in the eyes and tell me that you love me."
Kane held her face up with his hand and said calmly to her:
"I love you so much Veronica, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me."
She tried not to but it was not possible. A blissful and Adora smile decorated her lips. Her face was like that of an eighteen year old
girl who was just Falling in love for the very first time.
"I love you too Kane," she kissed him on his lips. That was something she knew he had been contemplating doing during their reconciliation.
She giggled as he lifted her up and carried her up the stairs. The lust in his eyes, the charisma in her eyes, that was a brief intro of what was about to go down.
When they got to the room, He placed her on the bed and restricted both of her hands.
"Do not be a tease," she told him.
"I won't be." He immediately began to smother his lips against hers as his hands found its way into her already skimpy gown. Their make - out washed away every single misunderstanding they were having. They lay on the bed staring at each other after putting in so much work to clear both their heads. Veronica placed her head on Kane's sweaty chest.
Meanwhile, away in the outskirts of New York City were Ramos and Susan. Ramos, the Personal Assistant and confidant of Kane Walker was lurking in the shadows with Susan.
"You did a very fine job," Ramos commended Susan. "But we must keep pushing in order to achieve What we both want."
"Why do you hate Kane Walker so much?" Susan asked Ramos.
"Because he is not the real deal a Walker should be." Ramos said with a hint of grudges in his voice.
"What do you mean?" Susan asked, she was confused.
"I am a better Walker than he is!" Ramos prided himself.
Susan was surprised to hear Ramos say that
"You are a Walker?" She asked in shock
"Yes," he affirmed.
"But how?" Susan wanted a lucid explanation.
Ramos was the son of Miguel Walker with another woman. His mother was at some point in her life the secretary to Mr. Miguel Walker. Miguel Walker had an affair with her, preferably to say a one night stand. Miguel Walker made a mistake and he never wanted it to be let out in the open. He tried as much to stay away from Ramos's mother but then he found out that she was pregnant. There was some mutual agreement between them before she was sacked and told to leave for another City with a huge sum of money.
Susan laughed hard. Ramos was surprised as to why she was laughing.
"What's funny?" He asked with a grumpy look on his face.
"Nothing, not you at least. "
"Then what?!" Ramos had a quick temper.
"I just realized where Kane got his trait of womanizing from. It runs in the family." Susan said and laughed again.
"Does that apply to me too?" Ramos questioned with a death glare and a frowned face.
"No," Susan immediately replied. "You are different from Kane at least." She was just scared.
They still weren't aware of the Behind the scenes of Kane and Veronica's marriage. If they knew, they would have probably used it to their advantage. No one was aware, only Kane and Veronica knew about it.
"I just want to take back what is rightfully mine," Ramos said. "I want everything as compensation for growing up without a name. Being ridiculed and mocked by those kids with a complete home."
Ramos was ambitious and vicious. His quality of being sly was also a huge advantage for him.
"How do you intend to take over the Walker's Cooperation?"
Ramos laughed:
"That's none of your business, Susan."
"Yeah, I forgot." She Said.
Ramos handed over a bundle of cash to her. "Here is for your hard work."
She received it, "anyday, any time," she said.
"Where's what I asked you to bring?" Ramos asked.
Susan took something out from her pocket and handed it to Ramos:
"What do you intend to do with that?" She asked.
"This is the biggest game changer," he laughed.
