Chapter three - New ideas

2075 Words
Melanie's POV: Mom still doesn't want to talk with me. I made my dad to understand what she wanted. There was no result. She didn't say anything. I don't want to exclude her from anything, but she can't keep putting her opinion over mine. I know she likes some things, but it doesn't mean I like them. I have no idea what to do with her. Talking seems impossible. Jordan's mom tried to do it. She invited my mom for coffee at her house. Nothing happened. I won't wait for her to stop being mad at me. I continued with the tasks I had. That's why I have to go to the coffee shop. Someone needs to work. I can't leave Cassie alone. She needs help. The reason is that the angel wing shot is my job. She does it only if I'm gone. This happens rarely. Well, that was before. I might need to leave her alone for more time. I know she won't mind, but I feel bad for her. We were supposed to work together. The problem is I have too many things in my head. I don't know what to think about right now. I thought planning the wedding wouldn't be that hard. That was until my mom messed up. I should talk with her, but I don't know when. I have other things to worry about. Jordan wanted us to invent something new for the shops. I have no idea what it should be. I'll need more time for this. I hope that I can fix the issues with my mom. I woke up but didn't get out of bed. I haven't seen my mom for more than a week. I don't understand what she wants from me. She is wrong if she thinks that I will do everything she says. This is my wedding. I wonder what happened at hers. I'm afraid to ask. Maybe I can talk with Jordan's mom about this. She might give me an idea. I still haven't decided on everything I want. I prefer to do this with my mom, but it's impossible. I turned around to see Jordan sleeping. Why doesn't he have these problems? He is a lucky boy. His mom agrees to everything he chooses. Mine is not the same. She was skeptical about the coffee shop as well. How much income can you make from a coffee shop? Now she liked the idea because I can take care of myself with it. I'm trying to understand her, but I can't. Sometimes, it's impossible. I took my phone to check the time. It's better if I get up. Someone needs to prepare the breakfast. Later, I have to go to work. I was about to get up when he grabbed my hand. - Let me go. Otherwise, we'll be late. - We own the shops. No one can tell us when to work. - Please. I want to go to work. - Why? Did something happen? - Apart from the obvious. - She will come back. I know it. - But I don't. I haven't seen her for a week. - So? Exclude her. Then she will see that you can do without her. She will beg you to accept her apology. - In which world this is happening? Not in ours. - Try it. - No, thanks. I prefer to focus on the most important things. - Which are? - The shop. - Do you have any ideas for it? - No, but I will think about something. - What? - What if? No, forget it. - What if what? - I thought of something, but it looks stupid. - Tell me. - Maybe we can decorate the shops if there is an upcoming holiday. Like Halloween and Christmas. - Why not? We can get dressed on Halloween and go to work like that. - I'm taking the angel costume. - Deal. - he said, laughing - Let's go back to reality now. - Why? I liked the idea. - Really? - Maybe we can skip the costume part. This doesn't mean we can't decorate the coffee shops. - Good. There is no upcoming holiday. Easter has passed. - We can serve the drinks in special holiday cups. - Also, we can sell candy canes on Christmas. - I like the way your brain is working. - he said, and I laughed - Thank you. - I think we needed a fresher look, not a new drink. - Maybe. Let's get up now. I want to eat. - Five more minutes. - Please. - Fine. You are mine tonight. - I am yours every single day. We don't go out much. - True. Jordan and I had breakfast. Later, we went to work. I opened the store and started ordering. Cassie came as well. She helped me get ready. The customers should be here soon. I started imagining this place decorated. It will look nice. Maybe our idea will work. There aren't many holidays during the year. We can think of something. - Hey, are you ok? Melanie? Hello? - What? - You zoned out. - I'm sorry. I was thinking. - About what? Maybe I should ask about who. - About this place. - What's wrong with it? - Nothing. I got a crazy idea in the morning. - Will you share? - I thought we could decorate the coffee shop for the upcoming holidays. - Can I help you? Please. I love decorating. - Sure. They will be in a few months, but we can think of ideas. - I have ideas for Halloween. We can work in costumes. - Maybe we should focus on the place, not how we look. - I'm sorry. I got excited. - Don't worry. I thought about the same thing in the morning. - See? - Maybe we can give a discount code. - How about this? People should buy a few drinks and get a free one. - I like this. For example, buy three drinks and get a free angel wing shot. - Not that. There is no way Jordan will give an angel wing shot for free. - I will talk with him about that. I liked the coupon idea. We can put ten percent, but only for those who order a specific drink. - You got it. Order an angel wing shot and get ten percent off for every drink only on Halloween. - Nice. I love this. Cassie and I worked for the rest of the day. I closed the shop and went home. Jordan and I were invited for dinner by his mom. It's not like I haven't seen her soon. Well, I like being at his house. I waited for him to get home. Cassie is full of ideas. I love this girl. I can ask her to invent something for my wedding. I'm sure she can think of something. - Hey, you are home. - Jordan said - I am. - What's the smile for? - We need to invite Cassie and Mark for dinner. - Because? - Because she gave me the best ideas for the shop. - I'm listening. - How about this? Whoever orders an angel wing shot gets a ten percent off coupon valid for every drink only on Halloween or the next upcoming holiday. - That's a good way of promoting it. I like it. - I was thinking we can make people buy drinks Then, we can give them a free one. - You mean a free angel wing shot. No way. This is my best-selling drink. - Buy five drinks, and get a free angel wing shot. - I liked the coupon idea better. - Because it's not mine. - We can give another free drink, but not this one. Please. - Ok, ok. There will be no free angel wing shots. - Thank you. - What else do we have? - She liked the costume idea. - I told you. - I'm not dressing only to go to work. - This will be fun. Think about this. - Fine, but I can't promise you anything. - It's better than nothing. - Christmas is great for hot chocolate. - With marshmallows. - Should we make a list with the ideas? I don't want to forget something. - Yes, but it will be later. We have to go soon. - Can I at least get ready? - If you stop talking, you can. - Excuse me. - I love you. - But I don't. - What? - I'm kidding. You don't have to panic. - I'm allowed to do that when you say such things. - I wouldn't have planned a wedding if I didn't love you. - These are the good news. - Are there bad ones? - Yes. If you don't get ready soon, we'll be late. - Who says it? You wanted me to stay with you in bed in the morning. - Yes, we are going to dinner. My parents are the boss this time. - Where is the difference? - I asked and got closer - There is one. - Fine. Free angel wing shots! - I said, going to our room - Never! - he shouted, and I laughed I love bugging him. It's so easy. Here is one thing about Jordan. His favorite drink is the angel wing shot. It's not because of the taste. He put meaning behind this. It took us some time to decide what we should put inside. It turned out well. I mean, people order this every day. When we were ready, we walked out. This time, we'll take the car. Jordan wanted us to stop in a grocery store to buy some things. We arrived at his parents' house around 7:30 pm. His mom opened the door. - Hey, come in. - Thanks, mom. How are you? - I'm fine. How is the shop and the wedding? - One of them is good. - I believe it's not the wedding. - Hey, kids. - Hello. - Let's sit down. I'll serve the dinner. - miss Blakes said - Do you need help? - I asked - No, but you can come. - Thanks. - How is your mom? - I don't know. I haven't seen her for the past week. - Is she still mad? - I guess. I don't know what to do with her. - Maybe I can try to talk with her again. - Thanks, but there is no need for that. Can I ask you something? - Sure. - How was your wedding? You can give me an idea for mine. - Back then, we didn't have that many things you two have now. I was in a dress. It was simple. Most of the guests were our parents’ friends. We signed the papers and later went to a restaurant for lunch. That was. - Did you decorate something? - No. We didn't have that much money. Now we have more. Well, salaries have changed over the years. - I see. Thanks. We have new ideas for the shops. - Great. When will we see them? - They are related to the upcoming holidays. - There are months until the next ones. - Cassie gave me some ideas. - I'm sure they will come to live. - They will. We need a bit more time. - You should focus on the wedding, too. I mean, not only in the shop. - I know. - She will be back. I promise. - I don't want to think about this now. Let's serve the dinner. The boys might be hungry. Jordan and I spent the rest of the night at his parents' house. I'm glad that we can talk with them about everything. His mom can talk with mine, but the problem is not hers. I have to deal with this. I will figure out what to do. For now, I will enjoy my days. I have enough time for everything. The wedding became stressful, but I won't let this take over me. I need to take control. Luckily, Jordan is next to me all the time. I'm glad to have his help with everything. I don't know what I would've done without him. I'm happy that he cares about me so much. I hope that we'll always have such a peaceful life.
