Chapter two - Mom, help me

2076 Words
Jordan's POV: Hello, my name is Jordan. I have a beautiful girlfriend named Melanie. We'll get married after six months. I still can't believe that she said yes. I expected the answer to be negative. I'm so happy that she decided to do this. Things are well in words. The moment we started planning, everything changed. I have nothing against her mom, but this is our wedding. I went shopping with Melanie and her mom only once. It was enough for me to see what was going on. I understand she wants to help us, but this is not the way. Miss Robinson needs to leave us to choose what we want. This is the point of the wedding. My girlfriend and I divided the tasks. That way, both of us will do things. I can't leave her to plan everything alone. Of course, I will have some surprises for her. I still haven't decided what they will be. The cake will be my job. I have a vision for it. What is left is to bring my idea to reality. I won't rush with that. If Melanie and her mom keep arguing, she might cancel the wedding. I can't let her do that. We told our friends that there will be one. Also, my mom got excited. I can't bring all these people down. I can try to talk with her mom. The thing is that I don't know if she will listen to me. I might need to call my mom for help. I hope that we can plan everything by ourselves. For the past few days, I wondered if we needed another coffee shop. The ones we have are enough for now. Also, we'll need some money for the wedding. We won't buy the most expensive things, but we should get nice things. To say it simply now is not the time to waste money on many things. Melanie wanted to leave little gifts for the guests. I liked the idea. The thing is that I don't know what they should be. We want them to remember this day for a long time. Currently, I am in the coffee shop. I ordered products to restock it. I have one worker named Josh. He is taking care of the orders. After all, I have to work as well. This is why Melanie and I don't have more than one worker. We work with them. They do everything except for the angel wing shot. This is our duty. We created this together. I wanted something unique. My girlfriend picked the name. It took us some time to choose the flavor. In the staff room, I have made shelves for the products that don't need to be in the fridge. I have organized everything. - Sir, someone wants an angel wing shot. - I'm coming, and don't call me sir. - I'm sorry, sir. I mean, yeah. - It's ok. Are you the one with the angel wing shot? - Yes. I love this drink. I think you need to tell me the secret. - If I do it, you won't come here anymore. - I said, and the woman laughed - I don't think it's only based on the flavors you put inside. There is something else. - All I can tell you is I didn't create this alone. - I believe your wife chose the vanilla. - Yes. How do you know? - I have never seen a man who likes vanilla on everything. Also, I have a daughter. She is obsessed with this. - I see. Here you go. - Thank you. Tell your wife that she has a great taste. - You can do it personally. We have another store. - I know. I have been there. One girl is working there. - My wife, too. She will be there the whole day. - Really? I might visit her. - She will be happy. - Thank you. The drink is delicious. I'll come back. - We'll wait for you. - I said, and she left - She talks a lot. - Josh said - Some customers are like that. - I prefer the ones who only say what they want and leave after they receive it. - Now you know why you have this job. You don't waste time talking with customers. - I have nothing to tell them. - Good for you. I talked with Josh until lunchtime. I like him. He is a good worker. I can hire another one, but then I won't do anything. After all, I want to be part of the staff. The shop is mine. I can do whatever I want with it. On the lunch break, I went out. I invited my mom with me. I need her help. She is the only one who can do this. We need a female adult. I don't know many of them or to say at all. That is except for our moms. This is why mine is here. We sat down and ordered food. - I believe you have something to tell me. - Mom, help me. Please. - What happened? Is there a problem with the coffee shop? - No, it has nothing to do with that. - Then what? - Melanie. - What happened to her? - You need to talk to her mom and tell her to back off. - I said, and she chuckled - How do you expect me to do this? - I don't know. Do something. - Like what? I can talk with her, but it doesn't mean she will listen to me. - Please. - Don't you think she and Melanie need to talk? - They only argue. Mostly, that is because her mom doesn't like her choices. - I have noticed that, yes. - Then? What do you say? - I can invite her for a cup of coffee, but I can't guarantee you anything. She is her mother, not me. - This doesn't mean she knows everything. - You know she has a reason to act this way. - She can talk about this with us. We'll help her. - It's not easy for everyone to open up. Give her some time. - How much? We have six months. It seems a lot, but it's not. - Everything will be fine. Melanie and her mom need to talk. We can't mess with this. - What about the coffee? - I will invite her but won't tell her what to do. This is a grown-up woman. - What if I do it? - Please, don't. Be next to Melanie. She needs you. - Mom, we see each other every day. - So? You can always do something nice for her. - I'm planning a wedding. Don't you think this is nice enough? - I'm not telling you to plan something. Make dinner or wash the dishes. - I do that all the time. - Really? - Well, we both do it together. - Make her feel good. - I can do that. Hopefully, the plan will work. Someone needs to talk to miss Robinson. Mom is a patient person. I could've asked my dad, but I don't think he is the person for that. Mothers understand each other the best. After lunch, I went back to the coffee shop. I made three angel wing shots. I'm happy that they became so successful. It's a simple recipe, but everyone loves it. This is why we made it. I wanted something original that was never seen before. I'm glad that I make at least one every day. It means a lot to me. - Hey, mate. Three angel wing shots, one coffee with milk, and two regular ones. - Dylan said - I'm glad to see you, too. Are the drinks for here? - Yes. We came to see you. - How nice. I will come in a minute. - How are you? Are you getting ready? - Kind of. - What do you mean? - I haven't done much. We have other issues. - Don't tell me you two are fighting. - What? No. It has nothing to do with us. - I have never been to a wedding, so if I attend my first one, I'm happy it's yours. - Thanks, man. Here are the coffees. - I'll take them. - The shots are coming. Hey, guys. - It was about time for you to show up. It's not a bad idea to come and visit us. - Jason said - I don't have much time. - Melanie won't go away. You can chill. - It has nothing to do with that. - Guys, we lost him the moment she said yes. - Dylan said, chuckling - Very funny. - Is everything ok? You don't look much in the mood. The business is going well. Right? - Noah asked - Yes, it is. The shots are famous. - They taste good. - Spill the tea. - Dylan said - Miss Robinson is taking over everything. - What do you mean? - Noah asked - She wants the perfect white wedding. - I bet Melanie is not having it. - Jason said - No. They started arguing. Now, her mom is mad at her. - I don't get it. Isn't this your wedding? You two should do what you like. - But she doesn't like it. If I have to use her words, she is going to a wedding, not a funeral. - That is too much. - I know. Mom will fix it. Hopefully. The boys stayed for an hour. Later, they went back to work. Around 6 pm, I locked the store and went home. I have offered to go pick up Melanie, but she said no. Maybe a walk will be good for her. When I went home, I started making dinner. Melanie went for a shower. She wasn't in the mood. I served the food, and she came. I don't know if I have to ask. It looks like a painful topic. - Are you ok? - Yes, I'm fine. - What happened? I haven't seen you like that in a long time. - I tried to call my mom today. She didn't pick up. - Don't worry. Mom will fix everything. - You told her? - Of course, I did. Two mothers will understand each other. Mom said she would talk with yours. It doesn't mean she will have success. Well, it's worth a try. - I don't know what to do. - Nothing. Rest and focus on the most important things. - I'm not in the mood for the wedding. - I was about to say the shop. - What about it? - You can invent another great idea. - As if they come like that. - I know you have things in your little brain. Pull them out. - I have a big brain. - And a big head. - I said and laughed - Very funny. - I'm trying to cheer you up, but you are not helping me. - Because I don't want to. I want to eat and go to bed. - Oh, no. I won't let you waste your night because you are in a bad mood. We'll do something together. - Something like what? - We can play a game or watch a TV show or movie. It doesn't matter. Something that will bring my favorite smile. - Don't you want too much? - No, I don't. I'll take care of the dishes. You can choose the activity. - Fine. I'll pick something. - Thanks. I quickly took care of the table and went after her. I won't let her mom ruin her mood. The problem is that I have no idea what to do. This is not an easy task for me. She is just drained. I know she can't always be happy, but I expect this from her most of the time. I guess it won't be today. In the end, we watched a movie. She fell asleep in the middle of it. This won't be easy, but I can't give up. I want Melanie and her mom to understand each other. There is no such thing as a sad bride. I won't let it happen. They will find a way to talk. I hope that this won't take much time to be resolved.
