Silent Scars
Sticks and stones may break my bones
That is how the story goes.
But words can never harm me, says the voices of a thousand armies.
Words can cut deeper than a knife.
Words can make someone take their life
Words are like any other weapon.
In the hands of the untrained, it can cause a lot of chaos.
Words are like an atomic bomb
Its effects will ricochet
Pitchforks and torches accompanied by an angry mob
Words can cause a person so much pain.
Words can sound like a dream, a sweet melody
Or words can leave you with a bitter taste like bitter melon.
Or as sour as a lime
Words can cause deceit
Like a wolf in sheep's clothes
Physical wounds heal over time
But such is not the case when it comes to matters of the mind.
Mental illnesses won't stay for a month or three
And then say you know what I think I'll leave
Yea no, sadly it's not that easy.
There's a lot of work that's put into work that you won't see
Disorders like Bipolar and Schizophrenia are life-long
Anxiety and Depression, even with treatment, aren't completely gone
So exercise your right to think before you speak.
Instead of just calling someone weak
Because you can never know the whole truth.
And can't walk a mile in their shoes
So be kind and respectful
And you won't have to live a life of regrets.
