Once our lunch was over, I decided not to attend class this afternoon. It didn’t really matter if I cut class or not. It would matter if I cared.
On my way to the woods, there was a loud commotion somewhere. Girls' voices, specifically. What a pain.
I didn’t usually pry to every catfight, but they were getting on my way . . . Troublesome.
"You!! How dare you?!"
From where I was standing, I familiarized already the woman who was bitching around. I witnessed Monique grabbed a student's hand and gave her a face-breaking slap. Hell, I was sure that hurt. To my point of view, I was not quite sure who was the girl that Monique hit, yet that incident was bothersome. It concerned some of my nerves.
I made my haste, and little by little, I could visualize the side view of the student.
"You don't know whom you are bumping with, stupid!" Monique said angrily and prepared her hand again.
And at last, I recognized the girl. It was the newbie in my class, the transfer student named Natsumi. And Sean talked a lot about her.
"Mind joining your business?" I interfered with an ice voice.
Monique's company stood frozen. Natsumi's furious face replaced into an astonishing, cold stare.
“C-Chance . . ." Monique stuttered and moved away from Natsumi.
I removed my gaze on her and sighed. "I saw everything," then I said in a normal voice. putting a hand inside my pocket. "Also, Miss Taylor, together with your company, in the Detention Office." Commanding, I walked closer to where Natsumi's direction.
"B-But!—" she whined, but I cut her that instant, "Now." I sternly finalized. They had no choice but to leave.
As I reached Natsumi. "And, you," I spoke, pertaining her. I stood in front of her. She only stared at me, while I was looking down on her. I was taller than her, but she was not that short.
"Miss Montero, isn't it?"
She slightly bowed her head and stared sideways. "Mm," she hummed as her yes.
"You know what," I told her slightly irritated, and then she eyed me confusingly. "You're such a troublemaker."
She never uttered a thing, but her wild light-brown eyes were telling me everything. I ignored her predatory gaze and just took her wrist. "Come on. I’ll bring you to the infirmary." Then I started dragging her.
It seemed like she didn’t like my approach and kept struggling to free from my grasps.
"Let me go!" she spurned. "Hey!" This time, she used a force to halt on my pace. "What do you think you’re doing?"
Another sigh drew out from me. After realizing the things I was doing, I immediately let go of her wrist. And without further words, I left her. I just wanted to help her, though. There was a reddish hand imprint that left her cheek. Worse, it might leave a bruise and would take a while to heal.
I only continued my haste, not that very long, I reached my secret place in the middle of the mini-forest, locating somewhere of this university. It was made for me only. Other students were restricted to come here.
This place surrounded by trees, grasses, and flowers. There was also a man-made pond located nearby. I sat on the ground and rested my back on a tree. I automatically looked above. The pure white clouds painted the blue sky alone. The fresh air was sending its coldness as the sun shared its delicate warmness.
While my eyes were closed, I heard a silent c***k of a twig and immediately shifted my head at the place where the sounds came from. It was just my instinct for me to catch the stranger who tried to ruin the peaceful ambiance.
As I clutched the ankle of a certain person, I opened my eyes.
I was struck by awe when it was the lady a while ago who was the one here again. She had this escaping position, trying to run from the scene. I narrowed my eyes, questioning her why was she here?
She only sighed, "I never knew," and answered in surrender.
I kept the silence and let go of my grasp on her ankle. How odd. I never felt a presence drawing nearby, and even a glimpse aura of her, nothing. She was Natsumi, the transfer student.
She was about to leave when I spoke, "I don't mind . . . if you'll stay here." I nodded my head up to gaze at her. Her eyes locked onto me as well, studying my sudden invitation to stay here.
She heaved a low sigh and removed her stares on me. "You want something, don't you?"
"I don't remember saying that to you," I said to her without looking. My eyes were fixed above.
At the corner of my eye, I noticed how she settled down on the ground beside me. "Don't play dumb. You don't mind me staying, because you wanted something."
"Okay," I replied. "More like I want to know something."
Natsumi only crossed her arms and laid her legs loosely on the grass ground. "So, what do you want to know?"
"What’s the real you."
The lady with her wild light-browned eyes said nothing but looked at me with cold, bored eyes. "Sure," she stated shortly. "However, I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you the answer," she paused while her eyes were searching through my soul. "Do you think there’s a real me?"
What kind of question is that?
"I . . ." I uttered my response and narrowed my eyes. Her question got me. “I’ve got no idea.”
"Really? You can’t answer?"
I only scoffed, shaking my head. That was absurd. I shifted my head sideways as my lips curled into a smirk. "I won't answer that now."
Natsumi frowned. "Why not?"
"That’s the third question.” I reminded her. “Just to be clear, you said that you will ask me a question. Not three."
Her expression became grim, realizing that I had a point. "Bummer. It was just a rhetorical question, though."
"Rhetorical or not, it is still a question," I told her casually. "Then, time to answer mine. What is the real you?"
The grim expression of Natsumi was now gone, instead, a mocking smirk was painted on her face. She had this sideward, triumphant smile, as she answered, "The No One."

I abruptly shut my eyes. I won the conversation as Chance gave up a sigh and declared, "Clever."
I only minded my business, wanting to find for a rest. A lot of things happened this noon. That b***h Monique. I would return what she had caused me. She’d better wait for it.
I didn't know how I ended up here. I was just looking for a perfect spot to sleep and never knew that this place existed. And unknowingly, Chance was here as well. That really scared me, truth be told.
Yes, I hid my presence for a purpose, if it wasn't with the twig, he would not catch me in this place. I thought I could hide in an instant, but his reflexes were too fast and caught me before I could escape.
I scoffed inwardly. I should be also the one who is asking the real you, Chance.
And how weird that he asked, "What is the real you?", instead of, "Who?" He knew something. And it was unavoidable. I could tell, he was also hiding something.
After a couple of minutes, little I did I know, I let my guard down and fell asleep.

It was not my will, but I half-opened my eyes when I sensed my stomach growling. There was also a heavy something rested on my head. Gritting my teeth in annoyance, I just saw the face of Chance near my face. I also noticed that my head was placed on his right shoulder, his head was rested on my head.
What the hell is this?
"Jerk," I muttered to myself.
"I heard you, woman."
I shuddered when he talked.
"Good," I said as I managed to be composed, but his head was still on me. "Because I have always wanted to tell you that."
"Tch," he only hissed and carried his head up. "It is not my fault, I tell you."
"Ah, yes," I replied sardonically. "If it wasn't your fault, then it is mine."
"Apparently, true."
"Ugh, shut up," I only shot back. "Sorry for troubling you, then."
Without words, he grunted as he stood up and offered his hand to me. He stared down, looking directly to my eyes. Those gazes, I always wanted to see those gazes. Even though they are cold, I could see the gentleness in him if I stared deeper.
"Come on, stand up," he urged in a calm tone, but as usual, his eyes were coated with ice.
Unconsciously, I reached for his hand. And as if, I felt a small current flowed to my system. Err . . . What is that?
Chance guided me to stand. And wordlessly, he parted away. I stayed for a little while just watch his back as he walked away and disappeared from my sights.
What a strange fellow.
Then I looked at my wristwatch, the hands of the clock showed that it was half-hour two o'clock.
Wow, I really did cut class. Oh, well. I was just going to sneak out of this university by jumping over the fence walls.
