I was standing in front of the door of my classroom to be. I knocked on the door twice at a time. Seconds later when the door opened and a mid-20's female teacher appeared. She wore eyeglasses, too, and it looked good on her.
"Hi. You're the transfer student, aren’t you?" she queried casually with her soft smile and calming aura. I only nodded. "Come in. We're waiting for you." Then she invited me as I gladly complied.
Letting a deep breath, I gained some confidence in me. I started heading inside, and the moment I entered the room, I already sensed a familiar aura or two.
"Please introduce yourself, Miss," the teacher said while walking behind me.
I inhaled and then exhaled, standing up straight. "I'm Natsumi Montero,” I paused and continued shortly. "Just don't mind my existence, and we’ll get along just fine."
Of course, I was living like a normal person, so I should change my identity, personality, and blah, blah. From Hime Miracle Natsumi Twain to Natsumi Montero. I wandered my eyes in every corner of the room, then I sighted the two ladies talking on the corridor a while ago—the same familiar presence I felt.
"All right," the teacher finally announced. "Miss Montero, please sit beside Miss Richardson."
The person with a Richardson on her name waved a hand on me. She was the first girl in the corridor.
"Natsumi, here!" she said cheerfully. Again, I simply nodded my head.
I went beside her and sat down on the vacant chair. There was also a vacant chair near the windows. Could I sit there instead?
"Hi, Natsumi!” The girl beside Miss Richardson greeted me. “You’re so cute! Oh, your name is also cute!” I didn’t know her name, so. "By the way, I'm Ashley Harris. Preferably ‘Ash’."
"And of course, I'm Ellianna Richardson. Elli for short."
I was too lazy to talk, so I forcefully smiled.
"Listen up, class," my teacher declaimed. "I'm Miss Rina Marionne, your English teacher, the same as your adviser for this whole year. And I hereby declare to start our lesson now."
Class already? Boring.
In the middle of the discussion, the door suddenly opened. As a curious person, I searched for the people outside. Outside, five men were standing with different kinds of expressions—laid-back, smirky, flustered, the apologetic, and pleading attitudes.
I was just looking at them blankly, while the other girls were squirming over them. Okay . . . I don’t care.
Two among the five men outside were the Chance guy and the guy who was with Chance yesterday.
"Next time," Miss Rina said with a calm tone, "don’t arrive late; otherwise, I will never allow you all to enter my class."
Without any words but expressions of obedience, they entered the room. They were walking towards their designated seats.
I noticed Chance walking in my direction.
And to my surprise, he sat right where the vacant seat I mentioned a while ago.
Eh . . . We’re on the same section?
As Chance was seated on his chair, the guy with him yesterday sighted the heck out of me. His smirk grew wider with disbelief.
"Fancy," he mused while walking, making passed of me with his hands hidden in his pockets. "Elite Girl."
I only sighed. "Let not a single soul discovers."
He pursed his lips, shrugging a little. "Copy that."
Later that day, our lesson continued. And I was here, almost sleeping. Time flew so slow, to the point my hair painted in pure white. Just a metaphor. I waited patiently for this to finish and surely, it took a great while before the bell rung, signaling that it was time for lunch.
As I fixed my stuff, I packed 'em up inside my bag. Then Ellianna poked me. "Natsumi, leggo have lunch with Ash!”
I gave her a brief look and returned what I was doing. "Why bother, though? I prefer eating alone."
I was being repulsive to them. I didn't need any acquaintances.
"Oh?" Ellianna uttered bafflingly. "Well, maybe you're cute . . ?"
I facepalmed with a small annoyance drew in my face. From that nonsense reason? So the looks were her bases? Didn't she apply the 'looks can be deceiving' saying in her life? That was absurd. I just shook my head. People really—I sighed—are so hopeless.
"Hahaha! Look at how you made—what's her name again? Natsumi? Whatever—her annoyed, Ellianna!" The guy from the other day chided in and he placed his hand on my right shoulder.
"Get your hand off or I'll break it for you," I said in an irritated voice and he quickly obliged.
"Back off, Justine!" Ellianna bawled out, defending herself. "She's clearly annoyed with your actions!"
"Oh-ho, really?" Justine—his name—returned with a scoff. "Says the one who is not."
"Natsumi is just being shy, okay?" She rolled her eyes, and to my surprise, she grabbed my hand, trying to pull me to stand. "Come on, Nat, Ash!"
Not my will, but I didn't have a choice. Looked like my anti-social plan failed.
"Sorry, Natsumi," proclaimed by Ashley while walking. "Elli can be really pushy some times."
I only sighed. There was nothing to be done about this. We started walking to the cafeteria and found the right table for us three. Then, Ashley volunteered to order our food. She insisted that she would treat us. After a while, our food came. We began eating as we gave thanks to the food. No one was talking. It was so silent and not really that awkward.
"Okay, I don’t like this. I'll introduce myself more." Ellianna broke the mirror of silence first. "I'm Ellianna Richardson. My family owns Richardson's Technologies and Company. Well, I love dancing and music."
"Oh, me, too!” Ashley said while wiping her mouth with a table napkin. "I'm Ashley Harris. My fam owns the Harris' Group of Medical Hospitals. I like taking care of animals. Hmm, also, I love nature. That's all. How about you, Natsumi."
I nodded forcefully. "Well, again, I'm Natsumi Montero. My family owns a small business in Italy. And my hobbies are sleeping and reading."
"Ah . . . okay," they both mumbled and continued eating.
I had to talk less about my information. Nobody should know who I really was. Well, if Justine and Chance would tell anybody about it, then it would be a slight commotion. I didn't also need to hide my face just to disguise, because whenever I was in a mission, my identity was already covered.
They kept on talking and I was just being silent here. I wasn’t used to noises. I was only talking when they were talking to me.
As we finally finished eating, we took a little rest before we decided to go back to our homeroom.
We were about to return to the homeroom when Ash asked us to help her to go to the restrooms. They asked me if I would go with them, but I said no. Gladly, I convinced that I was too lazy to go with them. So I was now heading to our classroom alone. Currently walking in the hallway, I heard some girls buzzing like bees to spread gossips.
"Girls, look at that newbie nerd!" said by a b***h-looking lady with a petite body and white skin complexion. The face? Hmm, let me think first. Ah, like a young-looking hag.
I eyed them with an arrogant look, walking with class and supremancy. I only ignored their immature issues. What do they want? Talk about being petty.
I could sense them following me from behind. They were all girls, four in numbers. In just a minute when they blocked my way and surrounded me.
"Hi, Miss Nerdy!" Petite Girl greeted, "Enjoying the stay here, huh?" and said with her ugly voice.
"You don't belong here, nerdy!" This girl's voice was so sassy and it made her sound more annoying.
As if all of you belong here. All I know, hags belong to haunted houses. I only said in my mind. I did not want to waste my voice for them. I mentally sighed. Such an eyesore. I averted my eyes somewhere where I couldn't see them.
"Say something, nerd." I reverted my eyes to the Petite Girl. Her face was really an eyesore.
"Oh? Looks like she got stunned by our beauty, girls!" the other one praised themselves up.
I cringed inside my mind. I needed to get out here. If I wouldn't, I would go insane. Hell wise rise, idiots.
"I'm going," I declared and started to walk again.
After a few steps, they grabbed my arm. Well, as I expected.
Petite Girl forcefully made face me her hagged face. I grimaced, physically. "We're still talking to you, ugly nerd!" she yelled right in front of my face. "Did your parents tell you that pay respect when someone’s talking to you?!”
How disgraceful. She dared to do that, huh? I only took back my hand. It was pointless to argue with her, and I was not in the mood.
"No, you dumbass," I retorted boringly with bluntness in me. "My parents taught me not to talk to strangers, especially to the people of a haunted house."
It would be fun if I could beat their faces up, but that was way too troublesome.
"YOU!!" she squealed outrageously and prepared her hand to slap my face.
I smirked. Ready for a fight? I would sacrifice my newbie reputation here if ever her palm would reach my face. If I could remind her, I was not just an ordinary nerd here. I just couldn't lower my pride down and let them do what they wanted.
Her palm was almost near. But she immediately stopped when we heard a very lively voice coming from behind.
"Ho, there! What does in our Mother Earth is going on here, huh, ladies?"
Our eyes went to the man who spoke. Ah, one of the guys belonged to Chance and Justine's group.
I heard these girls gasp in horror. Did they get scared because of him?
"S-Sean," the hag leader stuttered.
So, his name was Sean?
"Well then, ladies, the class will starts in,"—he looked to his wristwatch first—"ten minutes. Go back now to your classroom," Sean said with pride in his voice but he was still smiling.
They followed with just a word of the guy. Wow. I wondered, who was Sean in this school?
The girls glared at me with a 'we-are-not-finished-yet' look. I returned the glare, saying, “Whatever. Just get lost out of my sight.”
Then I averted my eyes to the guys. So, I would leave also. He said that class would start in a few. Fine.
"Hey, Miss!" called by the guy named Sean. "Aren’t you going to say 'thank you'? Why leaving already? I have just saved you!”
Huh?
I gazed at him perplexedly. "You said that classes will start in a minute,” replied innocently. "And . . . Thank you? S-Sean?" I added while stuttering his name, being all awkward.
They laughed at what I’d said. Even Chance scoffed, looking sideways.
"That’s so lame, Sean!" the other one snickered. He had a pair of baby blue eyes.
The guy who had dimples was just laughing, while the Justine was smirking.
Okay. I didn’t know what was happening, but they were some kind of weird fellows.
I saw Sean blush in light pink. "Ah, y-yeah . . . You're right," he replied sheepishly. "Can I know your name, then?"
I eyed him boringly with my mouth lies flat. I heaved a sigh and gazed to the side. Hadn't they heard my name to Justine? Well, okay. I was just going to tell my name. "I'm—"
"Natsumi!!"
Great. You are Natsumi.
I heard my name, Ellianna and Ashley were calling me. I looked behind, and there they were. Once getting near me, "What’re you still doing here? Let’s go!" They dragged me away from the guys.
"Why were they talking to you?" Ashley asked me.
"What did they do to you? Did they hurt you? What?" Elli questioned me imprudently.
"They did nothing," I answered. "They were just talking to me, nothing else."
"Really?" They both said in unison.
"Are you sure?" Ashley spoke worriedly. "You should never involve yourself to them, Natsumi! Just report to me if they’re pestering you, okay?"
I shrugged. “Why? Who are they, anyway?”
“Trust me, Nat.” Elli formed an annoyed look on her face. “It’ll be chaos if you approached them! Especially those freaky girls who are head-over-heels at them! You’ll get bullied, y’know!”
I just gave them a small smile. "I get it," and answered back.
Like I couldn't care less, though. As if bullies could defeat me.
