The new witness

Roberto Sella sat in the witness box a week after our meeting. It took a lot of time to convince the judge to authorize us to summon him as a witness. We explained how it was absolutely indispensable for the purposes of ascertaining the truth of the case and our absolute impossibility of knowing him before and being able to speak to him before. De Nicola strenuously objected to the evidence that would very probably seal his defeat.
However, we agreed to hold the examination the following week. We had to hear him out quickly before he left for South America again on his long business trips.
