Chapter 1
Chapter One
Hailey’s POV
“f**k baby...” Axel groaned. He had been in the shower after a tiresome day at work but s*x with his mate was one thing he always looked forward to.
“Do you like that?” Melody purred like a cat as she batted her lashes. She was a freak in sheets.
“Stop. Doing. That” he groaned. Melody knew what he was talking about. She knew that whenever she acted all innocent while she was riding him, it always gets him off.
“Oh f**k! You. Are. So. Sweet” he groaned in between sentences as she began moving faster. He let out a guttural noise as he emptied himself inside of her. He immediately flipped her over, him on top. Then he leaned in, as he slammed his lips in hers for a deep kiss. He—
“Miss Hailey” I gasped as my heart raced. I immediately looked up. It’s just the first day of the new session and I was already getting this much attention. I shut my eyes briefly, hoping I could disappear into thin air.
Nothing triggered me like the sound of the teacher’s voice. The last thing I wanted was to be the center of attraction in a class filled with students. I quickly closed the book, dropped my pen and focused on the teacher. By now everyone was staring at me while some giggled.
“Yes miss Higgle” I answered, my cheeks the exact color of a fire truck. My eyes searched the class for Devlin. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing he was not in class to witness my embarrassment.
She stared at me a bit longer and sighed. “I trust you are following the class”
I quickly nodded, adjusting my glasses. She turned around her table. “Listen up class” Miss Higgle continued.
“In the ancient—” she clicked on the slide screen for the next one and that attracted a round of laughter from the students. I peered closer to the screen and gasped. My heart beat faster.
There was a picture of me in an overall costume. It was the most unflattering picture of me. Written on top of the picture in caps was BORING ASS HAILEY NOT SEXY, NO WONDER NO ONE WANTS TO BE HER PARTNER IN CHEMISTRY CLASS.
I shut my eyes as the laughter behind me became louder. I’d be a liar if I say that didn’t hurt.
“You students. Who is responsible for this!” the teacher barked but that didn’t seem to quiet down the class. Without being told I already know who was responsible for this. I turned around to find Daisy smirking at me. She and her minions are exchanging high fives.
From no where I got courage and I took in a deep breath. I raised my hand up. The teacher called on me.
“Hailey do you have anything to say?” she asked.
“Yes” I hid my anxiety behind a neutral expression. “May I show the class something, based on the topic we are treating?”
Miss higgle was taken aback by my braveness. Even the class got quiet, wondering what I was doing. Miss higgle slowly nodded and I stood up.
I walked to the table and began to go through the slides on the class laptop. I saw the ones that had condescending pictures of me. Then I deleted them.
Connecting my phone to my laptop was easy. I clicked on an image from a research I had done last summer.
“Miss Higgle” I turned to her. “Based on our topic on the history of Lycanthropy, this is a picture of a half turned werewolf—”
And so I began a scintillating story of how I helped werewolves integrate into the human world. The class listened with rapt attention. Using my story telling skills, I conveyed a seemingly boring topic to an entertaining one. By the time I was through, there was a deafening applause from my classmates.
“Oh Hailey that was awesome” Miss Higgle grinned from ear to ear. So did my classmates.
“You did this during the summer!” someone from behind yelled.
“Yes” I smiled.
“Wow your holiday must have been boring!” another commented and the class roared in laughter.
I joined in the laughter but when it died down, I knew I had to set the records straight. “Nah guys, on the contrary I was on holidaying with the Lycan king at his penthouse”
I could hear their gasps. Now was my turn to smirk.
“Unlike some of you, who spend their time roaming around in malls, looking for cheap ass clothes to buy and attract little boys” I paused to let that sink in. Some of my classmates had hands clutched to their mouth. “And of course they roam with empty brains”
The class roared in laughed as all eyes were on Daisy and her little minions. Daisy covered her face with a book as the class kept laughing and pointing at her. I turned to find a ghost smirk tugging at Miss Higgle's lips.
“Alright, class that’s enough play for the day” Miss Higgle motioned to me to go back to my seat.
A grin was plastered on my lips as Daisy glared at me. I looked down to find Daisy had stuck a foot out. I slowly crossed over and stuck my tongue out at her. She glared at me and I badly wanted to laugh. If only looks could kill.
As I sat, I felt a sense of pride. It was good to get back at that witch.
Good. Me:10. Daisy: 0
The rest of class slipped by fast as nothing out of the ordinary occurred. It was back to boredom. By the time I looked up from my book, Miss Higgle was gone.
As soon as she left, I whipped out my phone and began to call Lilith. She didn’t pick so I texted her.
“You are not gonna believe what just happened”
I typed. She replied immediately telling me she was also in class. Lilith was my only friend, as far as I know. I got to know her after she commented on the second book series I had posted to my fans. She was an avid reader of my work. From chatting, we have now become close friends.
I hastily typed all had happened in class and sent it. Lilith did not respond immediately and I began to worry.
Just as I began to type again, I felt an excruciating pain on my scalp. I screamed.
