Chapter 3

What did Jackson mean when he said “ask your mother?” He was the one in the woods the night I got bitten, so how was my mom supposed to know anything about this? After all my mom knows nothing about werewolves and she doesn't even know that wolves exist, they all think it's some kinda fairytale s**t.

I arrived home, opened the door and the first thing I did was look at the small box Jackson had given me at school. It was as small as a ring box and in it was powder from crushed leaves of a plant I didn't know. “What's this Jackson?” I asked him curiously.

“Pour this in your mother's drink. It has all the answers to your question.”

His answer couldn't just vanish from my head. I needed answers and I was ready to do anything. The fact that all of these were connecting back to my mother who knew nothing about supernatural creatures, it was all confusing.

“Hello darling.” My mom's lively voice came immediately she entered the house.

“Hey mom.”

“You're looking very normal today, seems you've fully recovered.” She smiled at me brightly, that woman loved me truly and I could feel it in every single second of my life.

“Yep I'm hundred percent fit.”

“You're fit enough to make mama a cup of coffee?”

“Sure.” I said and went straight to the kitchen, made a cup of coffee and poured a little of the powder Jackson gave me, making sure mom didn't catch me doing it.

“Thanks honey.” Mom said taking the coffee from my hand.

Immediately she took a sip, I was shocked at what happened next “What the f**k Bella” She hit the cup of coffee on the ground and threw out the one in her mouth. “s**t! s**t! Oh my God!” She cried holding her neck so tightly then rushed to get a glass of water to drink.

“Is the coffee too hot?” I asked and before I could get an answer, my mom squeezed the glass cup in her bare hands, crushing it in anger and hurt “Mom what's happening?” I wasn't just shocked, I was scared now because my mom's eyes had changed in color. “Jesus Christ! Mom you're one of them?” I asked and she quickly ran to the bedroom in a sharp speed, almost like she vanished.

“Oh no!” I rushed in there to see what was really going on with her.

“Where the hell did you get wolfsbane?” She screamed in pain and anger.

“Wolfsbane? What the s**t is that?” I asked but quickly took out my phone to Google it. And that's when I realized it was a very dangerous plant for werewolves, capable of causing immense pain and used to repel them. Jackson knew exactly what he did, what he gave me was powder from the crushed dry leaves of wolfsbane.

“You're one of them mommy? You're a wolf too?” I asked going closer to where she'd fallen on the ground in pain, she was all calm now but very sweaty.

“I wanted to tell you honey.” She said turning to look at me and that's when I saw her red colored eyes slowly turn back to normal.

“You're an Alpha!” It wasn't a question, I knew it from the color of her eyes.

So Jackson knew, he knew my mom was a werewolf too, that's why he gave me the wolfsbane to put in her drink, but why did he tell me to ask my mom who bit me?

“How long have you been like this mom?” I couldn't believe she'd hidden her true identity from me all my life.

“Since you were three years old.” She said in tears.

I looked right into her eyes and she could tell I wanted to ask her if she knew who bit me. She knew something was up, She knew I didn't get wolfsbane from anywhere, I was definitely upto something.

“Who bit me?” I finally asked.

“Forgive me honey.” She started.

Forgive her? For what exactly? “For hiding your identity from me all these years?”

“No honey, I didn't mean to do it, I was only trying to save you.”

Oh she was making me completely confused. “What are you saying mom?”

“That night in the woods, I was also out.”

“Out with Jackson’s pack?”

“No. I'm not a member of their pack, I have my own pack Bella. I was just coming back from a night fight and I saw you lying down under a tree, you were in a Kandhor.”

“What's a Kandhor?”

“Kandhor is the tiny line between life and death. I only had two options, I could either let you die or turn you into a supernatural creature that could beat death from an asthma attack. So I… I tried to turn you into a wolf.”

“So you bit me?” I still couldn't believe it.

“Yes honey, you would've died if I didn't do it.” Mom said with watery eyes. I could already smell her remorse, her genuine regret and her love for me, I wasn't happy to be turned into some creature against my will, but I could understand this woman loved me so much she was selfish enough to keep me alive even if it was against my will to be a wolf. “I just couldn't handle the thought of living in a world without you honey.” She said cleaning the tears on her cheeks.

“And how does Jackson know about this?” I asked mom.

“He saw me when I bit you.”

“What? He was among the pack of wolves who took my inhaler and left me to die.”

“Well, Jackson is a nice guy, and he sneaked away from the pack and came back to give you the inhaler so you wouldn't die, but when he arrived, it was too late, I had already bitten you to save you.”

“So, he didn't mean for me to die?”

“No Bella, he wanted to save you but the alpha would've killed him if he knew about it, so he had to sneak his way back to you with the inhaler.

Boom! The door banged open all of a sudden “Who the hell is that?” mom asked standing up from the bed “Who the hell kicked the damn door?” She was furious as she left to check who it was. I couldn't help but wonder who would just kick someone's door like that.

I was about to leave the bedroom too when something shocking happened, I heard a loud bang noise again, a wolf howled and then I saw my mom thrown to hit her back heavily against the wall “Jesus Christ!” I screamed in shock and fear.

“Do not be scared cutie, We're only here for your mother.” A deep voice said coming from the dark, all I could see was a shadow, “who are you?” I finally managed to ask.

“The question should be, who are we?” The voice said and that's when I saw three shadows.

“s**t!” I knew we were in deep trouble.

"Hooooo-ah!” One of the shadows howled loudly then pounced on my mom again,” Run Bella! Run!” Mom said then stood up from the ground, but before I could run, one of them came out from the dark making it possible for me to see his face. it was Rhaskah Dimekhelis! The demon Alpha who attacked me with his pack and left me to die a few days ago.

“Surprised to see me?” He said grabbing my hair tightly with his claws.

“Please stop, you're hurting me.” I pleaded and at the same time felt very stupid. My mom couldn't even fight these fearful creatures despite being an Alpha herself, I had foolishly poisoned her drink with Wolfsbane already and she was extremely weak.

“Get over here!” One of them said, pushing his claws into my mother's back.

“What do you want from me Rhaskah?” Mom asked, and that's when I knew that she already knew Rhaskah.

“Well, Theresa, it's been a long time since we met hasn’t it?” Rhaskah said with an evil smile curling around his lips. He walked towards mom, used his finger to clean the blood on her lips and licked it.

“What do you want from me this time?” Mom asked again.

“Let's just say I came to check on the woman who betrayed me in the past, the woman who dumped me, married someone else and then gave birth to this beautiful girl standing right here,” he said turning to look at me.

“Rhaskah you have to let the past go!”

“Do I? Oh no I don't have to do that. Not after you broke my heart and married someone else, we stole the diamonds and you hid all of them, you lied to me about the diamonds also!”

Wait a minute, “what's happening here?” I was completely lost, what were they even talking about? My mom had a history with this demon Alpha? They were lovers in the past? And they stole a bunch of diamonds years back? This was even more complicated than I thought.
