Ben's POV
I see the most beautiful girl walking up to me. Her deep brown eyes, shiny dark blonde hair, beautiful smile.
She's just staring at me. My heart is pounding so hard,it feels like it's going to explode.
Just then Bailey introduces us.
"Ben, this is my friend Maddie. Maddie, my brother, Ben"
Maddie.
"Hi" I say to her
"Hi" she says back.
I can't stop staring at her. It wasn't until Bailey nudged me with her elbow that I even realized I was staring.
"Uh, do you want something to drink?" I ask her.
"I already have one, but thank you."
"Oh ok." I'm such an i***t. Of course she had a drink..we just got out here and started the fire.
I was very relieved though when we all sat down, Maddie sat right next to me.
The rest of the night went on fine. We sat there talking. Bailey and I telling stories about when we were kids. Kip and Maddie having stories as well and the pranks Kip use to play on her.
I swear if he wasn't her brother, I would want to kill him for upsetting my mate like that. Doesn't matter to me if it was when they were kids. Though, I get it. I'm sure Jax feels the same way about the stuff I did to Bailey. Being the oldest, it's like a right of passage, even if I'm just one minute older. Older is older.
I'm happy for Bailey. She's had a very hard past month and she's found happiness at the end of it. She's with her mate.
I was always going to get Bailey out of Red River. It was never my intention to have her stay. She always dreamt of her mate and I never would of let her reject him. Things just happened the way they did, and it all worked out for the best.
It's gotten pretty late and fatigue is really setting in. Hannah has fallen asleep on Nick's shoulder, so he picks her up and carries her back to the house as he says goodnight to everyone.
"Yeah, I'm pretty tired to." Bailey says.
"I'll walk you to your room sweetheart" Jax tells her.
And with that, it was just Maddie, Kip and I.
"Well, I guess the party's over. Ben, Let me show you where your room is." Kip says
We walk back into the house, and Kip tells me my room is on the fourth floor.
When we reach the fourth floor, Kip says his goodnight and disappears in his room. It's just Maddie and I.
"I can walk you to your door." I tell her.
She walks up to me and places a hand along my chest.
The sparks are erupting at her touch. She's just staring at me while her hand is driving me crazy.
Just then, she throws her arms around my neck and brings me down to meet her lips. My wolf is going insane wanting to claim her right now.
I lift her off the floor bridal style, and head into my room, kicking the door shut behind us.
This was the best night of my life.
******************************************
The next few days were pretty routine.
I was introduced to the entire pack, and to my surprise, nobody was upset that I was made second beta. This pack had a lot of respect for Jax. It's nice having an alpha you can respect.
A lot of she wolves were disappointed when they saw Maddie's mark on my neck, but I don't care. None of them can hold a candle to my angel.
I've started training too. I've been sparring with Kip. He's pretty good. He's quick on his feet, and every move he makes is calculated. Nick joins us from time to time, but he is usually whipping the gammas into shape.
This pack has a pretty strong warrior team. Red River wouldn't of stood a chance against Blue Moon.
I'm not entirely convinced that Grayson is no longer a threat to Bailey. He might be M.I.A. at the moment, but I got a feeling we haven't seen the last of him. He doesn't like to lose.
I didn't want to scare Bailey with how bad it was at Red River. She was already worried about Mrs. Betty and the other innocents there. I did manage to get most of them out, but a lot of people died that night, and not all of them deserved it.
Summit Moon was a brutal pack. They didn't waste any time. Michael was pissed when he found out Grayson took off. I can tell he didn't like to lose either.
Michael actually had a smile on his face as Red River burned. The man was truly evil.
I didn't exactly have love for the place, but it was where I grew up, and there were people there who were stuck. Just like Bailey and I were. It was sad to see all of it destroyed in a matter of seconds.
I shake myself out of my thoughts.
No need in living in the past. I have a new home now. A new pack, with my mate.
My mate.
Maddie is simply amazing. She's smart, funny, kind. I'm truly blessed to have her as my mate. I'm completely in love with her.
I had made plans with her that we would do something later tonight. I was thinking a nice dinner and maybe some dancing.
Kip and I are currently going over strategy, and guard placements. Jax is still worried about Bailey, and I don't blame him.
"So, if we place two here, here , and here, there shouldn't be any breaches." Kip says pointing to the map of the pack lands.
He's right. That's good placements of guards, but something still didn't look right. After looking at it for a minute, I see the issue.
"If you look right here, that'll leave this small area open for exactly thirty seconds. That's just enough time for a rouge to enter. Especially if they are watching us." I say.
"Damn, you're right. Ok, then we have to readjust."
"No not readjust, just space it out. If we have each guard stagger fifteen seconds behind each other, it closes that gap, and. leaves the boarder guarded at all times." I tell him
And if Grayson ever found Bailey, would not give him an opening to get to her, I think to myself.
"Damn, you're good." Kip tells me.
"Hey it was your plan. I just offered my two cents."
"Well, let's go show this to Jax. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear this."
We head up to Jax's office to show him our plan. While we are heading up, I can't help but feel we are being watched.
I look around but don't see anything out of the ordinary. Kip didn't seem to notice it or, if he did, he's not letting on.
I need to be careful right now. I didn't know many people here yet, and I would hate to make waves already.
I'm keeping my eyes and ears open though. I'm not a paranoid type of person and I'm usually always right when I get these feelings.
