Chapter 20

Bailey's POV

Maddie had ask me what she could do for something special for Ben. She didn't know him that well yet and she was trying to do something special for him.

I decided I would teach her how to make Ben's favorite dessert, Blackberry turnover.

"Oh my gosh, that sounds amazing" Maddie says.

" Yeah, our mom used to make it for us when we were younger and it's his absolute favorite. It's easy to make. Come on I'll teach you."

We're in the kitchen and we stuffed the pastry dough with the berries and sealed them and put them in the oven. Then went to make the icing for the drizzle on top.

"Oh I hope he likes it" Maddie says

"He's going to love it." I assure her.

"I can't believe your brother turned out to be my mate" she says to me.

" I know it's crazy how that turned out. That's okay I've always wanted a sister and I'm glad it's you" I tell her.

She smiles back at me "Ok, so what's next?" she asked.

"Next, we have to take the pastries out and let them cool, then we'll drizzle the icing on top and Ben will feast"

"Thank you so much for helping me with this Bailey I really appreciate it. I really want to do something special for him."

"Well he's going to love it" I tell her as we finish the pastries and put the icing on top.

Maddie leaves to change her clothes before going to find Ben. I'm cleaning up the kitchen Jax walks in.

"What smells good in here?" he asks.

" Blackberry turn-overs"I tell him

"I've never had Blackberry turnovers before" he tells me "sounds great" as he goes to take one and I swat at his hand.

"What was that for?" he asked

"Maddie made those for Ben"I tell him. "But I make these ones over here for you" I smile and wink at him.

"You're the best" he says to me with a bigger smile, then takes a bite out of his pastry. His eyes go big. "These are amazing" he tells me "you are an amazing cook."

"I've been making them since I was little" I say.

"Bailey, I wanted to talk to you about something."

" What is it?"I asked him.

He moved closer to me. He pins me between his arms against the counter as he leans down and brushes his nose against my jaw. He's driving me crazy. My heart is racing and I've got butterflies in my stomach.

"Well it's about..." Just then, Nick and some of the gammas walk in breaking is apart and Jax steps back. I'm disappointed because I already miss his warmth. They nod their hellos to me and Jax.

Jax looks at Nick.

"How'd it go today?" Jax ask Nick

"Not bad. They're taken to the new schedule pretty well" Nick said "I'm rewarding them with the game room today." Nick adds.

"Very good" Jax says.

Nick excuses himself as if he sensed he interrupted something between us, and joins the Gammas on the way to the game room.

Jax looks at me again, with that look in his eyes, as he walks up to me again. He runs his hands through my hair and leans down to where his lips are just above mine.

"Anyways, Jax, you were saying" I remind him.

"Oh yes I wanted to say..."but we were interrupted again by Kip. Jax growls as he steps back again.

"Hey Jax, oh..sorry. Uh, Ben and I have that map lay out for you if you had time to go over it?" he says

"Yeah we can go over it" Jax says. "Bailey can we talk later tonight it's kind of important."

"Of course" I tell him.

He leaves to head up to his office with Ben and Kip. I feel a little disappointed. He's been so busy lately and I don't want to take up all of his time.

I actually want to talk to him too. Ever since he extended his offer to Ben to join the pack, it got me thinking. I'm still not a member. I want to change that I want to be a member here with my mate and my brother and my friends.

I decided I'll tell him later tonight when he comes to talk to me.

I head up to my room and read a book and take it easy for the rest of the afternoon. As I reach the top of the stairs, I'm almost at my door when I hear someone coming up from behind.

I turn around and see Rachel. "What are you doing up here?" I asked her

The fifth floor is the alpha floor. No one is allowed up here except Jax and I, unless Jax has called you up.

She glares at me "I don't need permission to see Jax" she tells me.

"That's not what I hear" I say back to her.

"You think you're something special?" She asked me "you think just because you're technically his mate you mean anything here? You're nothing and you're always going to be nothing. Just a sad little stray Jax brought in from the street."

My wolf is going crazy, scratching to come out. She wants to rip Rachel's head off.

I do my best to stay calm but she's really testing my patience. "You're delusional" I tell her. "I am Luna and you will respect me."

She laughs "You think you're Luna? That's hilarious. He's not making you a Luna, hell he hasn't even marked you yet"

I'm livid and just about lost control of my wolf. I'm hanging on by a thread. "He might not have marked me yet, doesn't mean he won't, but it certainly means he'll never mark you. You aren't even a thought on his mind." I fire back at her.

Well that did it because Rachel suddenly shifted into her wolf and lunged at me. I jumped out of the way real fast and rolled up to my feet. She quickly turned around and lunges at me again growling and snarling she lands on me and knocked me down the stairs.

We're both rolling down the stairs as I'm trying to keep her from biting me. We fall down at least two floors, both of us a little disoriented.

When I stand, Rachel lunges again knocking me into the wall and knocking the wind out of me I keep trying to shift but it gives her the opening to attack so I can't, but that doesn't mean I'm not fighting back.

She lunges for me again and I lunge back at her hitting her in her abdomen area knocking her down this time. She runs at me but I twist with my arm around her neck, almost to the point where I'm on her back riding her, trying to choke her out. She rolls over to knock me off.

Before getting up again I'm knocked up against the wall again and she's about to lunge once again when I hear a loud growl, stopping her mid attack.

I sit up and look to see Jax running downstairs with Kip and Ben behind him. Jax looks pissed.

Jax's POV

I'm in my office with Kip and Ben and they are showing me the new plan for the guards at the gate. It's a good plan. It leaves no openings for anybody to enter unseen.

I'm still annoyed at the constant interruptions as I was trying to talk to Bailey but I'll tell her tonight.

I want her to be an official member and I want to set a date for her Luna ceremony. I hope she wants this as well.

"So, we figure if we do it this way no one will get in unannounced" Kip tells me.

"I think it sounds like a good plan" I tell them "good work you guys."

As they're going over the strategy and the layout, I hear a growl and then a loud thud sounds like something just went down the stairs.

"What the hell was that?!"Kip says getting out of his chair.

We all stand up and head out of my office towards the stairs to see what was going on.

As we go down the stairs the sight I see has my blood boiling, and my wolf clawing to get out attack. Bailey is being attacked by a wolf.

I grow loud in my Alpha voice,

"ENOUGH!!"

Bailey and the wolf attacking her look at me. Bailey looks hurt.

I look at the wolf in front of her, "Shift!" I tell her

Ben runs over to Bailey to check on her. "Bailey are you ok?" he asked.

"Fine" was all she said. I can tell she's angry and hurt.

I look at the She Wolf again her head is lowered "I told you to shift" I say again. This time she obeys.

Rachel.

"What the hell is the meaning of this?" I asked her. "You dare attack your Luna?"

"But I didn't, she said "she attacked me!"

"WHAT?!" Bailey said "That's not true Jax."

"It is true." Rachel continued. "She kept telling me that you were hers. She kept insisting there was something going on between us and I told her nothing was. We were friends but that was it, but she didn't believe me and then she attacked me."

"But you were in your wolf" Kip says

"I needed to shift into my wolf to protect myself" she says "she's beta blood. It makes her naturally stronger than me. Jax please you know me. You know I wouldn't do this." Rachel pleaded with me.

I look at Bailey with who's looking at me with so much anger on her face. Her eyes are pleading with me to believe her.

Of course I believe Bailey. She would have no reason to attack Rachel. And after everything she told me Rachel has done to her.

Rachel probably didn't even know Bailey told me since she wasn't disciplined right away. This is why I don't let things slide. I'll need to remind Bailey of this so there won't be a next time.

I still haven't said anything which hurt registers across Bailey face.

Rachel pleads with me again "Jax please"..

I snap at her "It is Alpha" I remind her.

She whimpers and lowers her head.

"Kip take Rachel to my office where we will discuss this" I order

"Yes Alpha" Kip responded. He takes Rachel by her arm and leads her up to my office.

I walk over to Bailey and help her up.

"You don't believe her, do you?" she says to me "you don't really believe I attacked her"

I place my hand behind hey neck and bring her up close to me, as I crash my lips on hers. The heat of our kiss is growing.

I break our kiss and look her in her eyes. "Of course I don't believe her Bailey. It was never a question."

I see Bailey's face relax and the tears start to fall down her face. I reach out and wipe them away. "Bailey this is why I wanted to punish her the first time."

" She attacked Bailey once already?!"Ben said.

"No," Bailey told him "she said stuff to me but she never attacked me.I didn't want to make it a thing, so I told Jax to drop it."

"Bailey you know better than that" Ben says "you saw how those s**** acted around Grayson and all the fights that broke out"

I didn't want Bailey to feel like she was being ganged up on so I didn't say anything else else. I help her stand up when she winces in pain.

"Where does it hurt?" I asked her.

"It's fine, really I'll heal."

"She didn't bite or scratch you did she?"

" I don't think so just knocked the wind out of me a little bit".

"Let's get you up to your room." Ben says.

When Bailey tries to walk she winces again.

Not risking it, I pick Bailey up bridal style to carry her up to her room so she can get some rest.

"I'll meet you in your office" Ben tells me.

With that I take Bailey into her room.

Once inside I set her down on her bed and start examining her, looking for scratches or bite marks or bruises.

"Really Jax, I'm fine. I'm just a little sore."

"I have to go deal with this right now Bailey but I'll be right back"I tell her.

"I understand" she tells me.

"Hey look at me." I say to her. She brings her eyes meet mine "I'll be right back" and she nods.

"Jax, thank you for believing me."

I brush a soft kiss across her lips. "I will always believe you, Bailey." I kiss her again. She reaches her arms around my neck to bring me closer. She lets out a soft moan, and I all but lose it.

I force myself to break the kiss as I have to take care of this situation with Rachel first.

"I have to deal with this." I tell her. "Are you sure you're ok?"

"Yes, I'm fine." Bailey assures me.

"Ok, this won't take long." I tell her and leave her room to deal with Rachel.
