Sold by my stepfather
I stared at the crumbled paper between my fingers. My fingers felt numb against the tender sheet. I have crumbled it a few times and thrown it to a corner in my room. Seconds later, I picked it again and stood at a corner in my room, reading the same words I've read over and over
"As an agreement between your father, Dominic and our beloved, Alpha Shane, you are to be escorted back to the Alpha's chambers at noon. You are expected to be ready to leave as we would be there to pick you up in a matter of time."
At the end of the letter was a name scribbled in a much thicker ink. I could barely put the name together as the pink ink used to stamp it decolorized it, thanks to my tears.
Another tear rolled down my cheek, staining the sheet in my hand. I couldn't believe this. My step father has sold me to the Ruthless Alpha of the Carreabian packs.
I knew it would surely come to this but this early? Dominic has always hated me, but everything got even worse after my mother got killed in the last war and my younger sister taken, never to be heard from or seen again, leaving the two of us to live in a house I once called home. It was nothing but sadness and heartbreak now, a constant reminder of how I deserved nothing good in my life, of how miserable I am.
Alpha Shane was rumoured to rule the Carreabian territories in the south south with fear and terror. I heard his people were prisoners of his, as they lived in constant fear. He was ruthless and feared by other territories. And now I'm just supposed to be thrown into his arms? I'm supposed to bear him heirs and live in terror. What about my dream of finding my one true mate and falling in love?
I had so many dreams and it all ends like this? There was no where I could go. I slid down to the floor, my back against my bed ends. With My legs cradled between my arms, tears streaming down my face. I wished my father was here. He would never sell me off for grains and money. He would have loved me better.
I heard footsteps approaching followed by the abrupt push of my door. I saw my step father step inside, a domineering look on his face as he watched me pathetically. Behind him was a man well dressed in tux.
"She is all yours now sir," Dominic said with distaste "take her away immediately!"
I could barely say anything as the man pulled me out and I just let his carriage take me away from the home that has shown me nothing but pains and agony for the past few years.
I have never been to the Caribbean pack city before. I've only ever heard of it. When the carriage pulled at a hilly top where I could see the Carreabian park second stone wall, I was beyond stunned. It was the biggest thing I've ever seen my whole life.
The man in tux offers me his hand and soon enough the ride came to a stop right in front of a tall building that looked like the castles painted in the books my mother used to read to us. It was beautiful and a hundred times more than what I'd ever imagined a castle would look like. I couldn't believe a place like this even existed.
As I stepped out, a woman dressed in a fine cotton dress gown was standing at the stone steps, waiting. She didn't have a very pleasant look on her face when she saw me and I didn't blame her. I hadn't had the time to take a quick bath or change my clothes.
The man enters back into his carriage and hurries off, leaving me face to face with this woman who didn't seem to want to come any closer to me. She has her chin up in ways that told me she wouldn't tolerate nonsense from anyone. From me.
She gingerly takes a step towards me and links her arm with mine, dragging me towards the house.
"You must hurry now!" She blurted out sharply "the Alpha doesn't like being kept waiting. "
I struggled to meet up with her pace as she dragged me along, my mind racing, my heart pounding fiercely. I had a lot I wanted to ask but she didn't look like someone who would entertain my questions at the moment so I kept everything inside.
I followed her still as she took me in circles and spirals until she was pushing two huge metal doors open and pushing me inside.
Inside the room, there is a huge bed situated in the center, a dresser table and chairs. At the foot of the bed stood a woman who looked just a little bit older than me. She bows her head in what looked like fear immediately the other woman walked in.
"This is Leona," the older woman said "she will be your maid as from today. "
Maid....?
"And will get you ready now to meet with the Alpha!" Turning to the said Leona, she asked "Are we clear?"
"Yes Mrs Ambrose." Leona replied gently, fear edging her voice as she nodded immediately. Why was she so scared?
Mrs Ambrose spun around and disappeared from the room. I remained still until Leona finally spoke, fear laced in her eyes.
"You must come now, please, I need to get you ready." She managed to say as she pointed towards another room.
I watched her, bewildered.
"Ready for what?" I asked.
I saw the light in her eyes disappear for a second before she removed her gaze from mine and set them downwards, her fingers gingerly fondling each other, like she was nervous about something.
"I..... I could die from uttering a word to you, my lady." She muttered and turned away quickly.
I watched Leona and couldn't decide whether to do as she said or go for the door and run away from this place. Because there was so much tension around here, I didn't know what was waiting for me when I finally meet the ruthless Alpha.
