Raph’s POV
I watched them argue, feeling so uncomfortable and I felt some pains in my chest.
Alpha Kanen stood tall, his nails already out to devour the creature before us.
The human wolf, a terrifying mix of man and beast, stared back with an unblinking gaze, demanding a sacrifice.
It wanted me. But Kanen wouldn’t allow it, and their words were growing sharper, more heated by the second.
“Kanen, you’re being reckless!” I wanted to shout, but my throat felt dry, like the woods were sucking the life out of me.
The trees seemed to close in around us, whispering with unseen voices that only added to the rising tension.
Each time Kanen took a step forward, ready to fight for me, I saw the fire in his eyes, but that fire was only making things worse.
