UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.

Ada's POV The drive back to the mansion was unusually quiet. I sat beside Liam, staring through the window as the hospital slowly disappeared behind us. My mother's face kept appearing in my mind. Her smile. Her voice. The way she had held my hand and asked me not to disappear again. I swallowed. At least I knew she was okay. That was enough for now. But one thing wouldn't leave my mind. The hospital bill. Someone had paid it. Anonymously. And I couldn't stop thinking about the timing. Yesterday. The exact day Liam had taken me to his mansion. I glanced at him. He was looking straight ahead. Calm. Unbothered. Almost too calm. I studied his face. “Liam?” “Yes?” “Can I ask you something?” I asked “You already are.” I frowned. “You know what I mean.” He glanced at me briefly. “Go ahead.” “Did you really not know about the bill?” I asked His eyes returned to the road. “I told you. I didn't pay it.” “But that's not what I asked.” Silence. I folded my arms. “You're avoiding the question again.” “I answered you.” “No. You gave me an answer you wanted me to accept.” He sighed. “Ada.” “What?” “Let it go.” I stared at him. “Why?” “Because your mother is being taken care of.” “That doesn't explain anything.” “It doesn't have to.”He said I shook my head. “You're impossible.” “I've been told.” I looked away. For some reason, I couldn't decide whether I was annoyed with him or simply curious. Maybe both. The car continued toward the mansion. Then I noticed something. A dark vehicle was parked on the opposite side of the road. My body stiffened. “Liam.” He immediately looked at me. “What?” I pointed toward the window. “That car.” He glanced in the direction I pointed. The vehicle was partially hidden behind a tree. Liam's expression changed. “Don't stare at it.” My eyes immediately returned to him. “Why?” “Because I said so.” I frowned. “That doesn't answer my question.” He reached for his phone. “James.” He made a call. “Check the road ahead.” A few seconds passed. Then James answered. Liam listened. “Understood.” He ended the call. I stared at him. “What did he say?” “The vehicle isn't there anymore.” I looked back through the window. He was right. The car had disappeared. My stomach tightened. “Do you think they were watching us?” Liam didn't answer. That frightened me more than if he had said yes. I turned toward him. “Liam?” His voice was quiet. “We'll talk when we get home.” I nodded slowly. But I already knew one thing. Something wasn't right. And whatever it was... Liam knew more than he was telling me. When we finally arrived at the mansion, the gates opened immediately. The cars drove inside. I stepped out and looked around. Everything seemed normal. The guards were in their usual positions. The mansion was quiet. Nothing looked suspicious. But after everything that had happened, I didn't trust appearances anymore. James walked toward us. He looked at Liam. “We need to talk.” Liam nodded. “Inside.” I looked between them. “What about me?” Liam looked at me. “You should rest.” I immediately frowned. “No.” James smiled faintly. “I knew she'd say that.” I glared at him. “Why does everyone keep telling me what to do?” “Because you don't listen,” James replied. “I listen.” Liam raised an eyebrow. I sighed. “Sometimes.” James laughed. Liam shook his head. “Go upstairs.” I folded my arms. “Fine.” I turned around. Then stopped. “Liam?” He looked at me. “Thank you.” “For?” He asked confused “For taking me to see my mother.” His expression softened slightly. “You're welcome.” I smiled. Then I walked upstairs. But I didn't go to my room immediately. I stopped halfway up the stairs. Something was bothering me. I looked back. Liam and James were speaking quietly. Their voices were too low for me to hear. I couldn't make out the words. But their expressions told me enough. Whatever they were discussing... It wasn't good. I continued upstairs. LIAM'S POV The moment Ada disappeared from sight,James' expression changed. “What happened?” I looked toward the entrance. “The car.” “You saw it?” “Ada saw it first.” James frowned. “That means they weren't being careless.” “No.” I pulled out my phone. “The vehicle disappeared before we could get a plate.” James ran a hand over his jaw. “So they're still watching.” “Possibly.” He stared at me. “You don't believe that?” “I believe someone is interested in her.” “And the trackers?” “Already gone.” I replied James nodded. “That means they're changing tactics.” I didn't respond. My mind went back to the hospital. The car. The timing. The security breach. Mrs. Rose. Everything was beginning to connect. But there was still one thing I couldn't understand. Why Ada? She hadn't done anything. At least, not knowingly. James broke the silence. “What are you thinking?” I looked at him. “I'm thinking we don't know the whole story.” “You think Ada does?” “Maybe.” James frowned. “She only saw a man being killed.” “I know.” “And you think there's more?” James asked I looked toward the staircase. “I think someone believes there is.” James was quiet. That was the difference. It wasn't necessarily about what Ada knew. It was about what the people hunting her thought she knew. And until I understood that... I couldn't protect her properly. I picked up my phone. “Double the security around the mansion.” James nodded. “And Ada?” “Don't tell her.” “Liam—” “She'll panic.” I cut him off James sighed. “She already suspects something.” “I know.” I looked toward the staircase again. “And that's exactly what worries me.” ADA'S POV I sat on the edge of my bed. My mother's face was still in my mind. But now Liam's strange behavior has joined it. He was hiding something. I knew it. The question was... What? I stood and walked toward the mirror. My reflection stared back at me. For a moment, I remembered the message. WE SEE YOU. I shivered. Someone had been in this room. Someone had watched me. And now there was a strange car outside. I stepped closer to the mirror. There was no message anymore. The mirror had been cleaned. But I could still remember those words. I turned away. Then I heard something. A faint sound from the hallway. I froze. Footsteps. Slow. I walked toward the door. The footsteps stopped. My heart began beating faster. I reached for the handle. Then I stopped. Liam's voice suddenly came back to me. Don't open the door. I slowly lowered my hand. The footsteps started again. This time, they moved away. I waited. A few seconds passed. Then I opened the door. The hallway was empty. I stepped outside. Nothing. I looked toward the staircase. Then toward the other end of the corridor. Empty. I frowned. Maybe I had imagined it. I turned around. And that's when I noticed something on the floor. A small piece of paper. I bent down and picked it up. There were only four words written on it. We Are Watching You. My heart stopped. I stared at the message. Someone is watching me? But who. I slowly looked toward the door, suddenly aware of how quiet the mansion had become. For the first time since I arrived here, I wondered if Liam's mansion was really the safest place for me. Or if whoever was after me had already found me. I slipped the note into my pocket. I wasn't going to tell anyone. Not yet. First, I needed to know who had been watching me.
