My Unsafest Safe

Stella Gibner’s POV            I woke up with a tingling headache. I was still wearing my tight skinny jeans and my black leather jacket. “Oh God! Cant remember what happened last night” I sighed to myself as I opened my phone to check for notifications, you know, if there are any. I’ve been jobless for a month now, my commercials ended a month ago and seems like I cant find seem to find a good job anytime soon. I got up from my messy bed with my mascara stain all over my face and headed towards the bathroom to clean myself and wash every mess and dirt that my body currently have. I was inside my thought while relaxing from the continuous flow of warm water when I heard my phone ring. If there is anything faster than light, that would be me. My hair and body were still dripping wet from the shower while I am answering my phone. “Good morning! This is Sheila from Winslet Cosmetics, we would like to invite you for your contract signing and to discuss the terms of the contract of your upcoming commercial, I will be waiting for you today at 1o:00 am” and the call dropped. I was about to celebrate but as I look on the time, its already 30 minutes past 9. Wait, WHAAAAAT????!! I quickly grabbed my clothes from my closet, yeah, I didn’t have time to choose but thankfully I was kind of gifted with a good physical appearance, so I can basically pull anything up. I put my nude turtle neck body con dress and high hells, I put on light make up and blow dried my long silky black hair. The company was a 5 minute drive from my apartment so maybe, I’ll be there on time.            I arrived at exactly 10:00 am, luckily. The office was not so busy today, guess this will go smoothly. “Hi! I am Sheila, the person on the line a while back. Welcome to Winslet Cosmetics, you can read the terms of the contracts here and I’ll leave you for a minute, I have an important call to answer.”  She said as she handed me the white long folder,  sure thanks!” I replied with my widest smile. My excitement instantly vanished when I saw how much I will be paid for. This cannot even pay my rent this month. I am not being dramatic, it’s just that I’ve been a commercial model for 4 years now, and the rate was not even half of my pay from my previous project, I mean- come on, I do need the money, yes but I still have my standards too. My thoughts were disturbed when Sheila came and asked “are you done reading it?” I softly smiled and replied “can we discuss more on my salary, honestly, I was never offered this low, no offense and with due respect to you and the company” “But you will just be appearing for 5 seconds on the commercial, but okay I understand and I’ll see what I can do. If then, you can come back tomorrow for revisions if there are any” she tapped my shoulders as she left the room. I took a deep breath as I was standing to leave the room, I saw a very familiar face.            “Marco?” I questioned almost screamed his name. “Oh my virgin coconut! Stella?! How are you? I missed you so much” he said and hugged me so tightly and strongly that he lifted me up from the ground. “okay okay, you’re squeezing me too much, you work here now? Since when?” I said with the joyous  giggle I can ever make. Marco Vinee was my college bestfriend, he was gay, but still not out in public, so yeah it’s a secret matter. “I was transferred and promoted 2 weeks ago, I was so busy that I forgot to tell you. Thought you were in Italy though?”  ”I was, for my commercial shoot” I said with a slight sadness in my tone. “am I missing something from my bestie?, you seem unhappy, what’s wrong?” he said while gently caressing my back “It’s just that I got this commercial from your company but the offer was not really good so I’m a bit distracted” I said while I sat on the near sofa. “I’m so sorry, I cannot do anything about that since I work on different department. Speaking of which, there are vacant positions in our office, do you want to settle for you know, a more stable job than being a commercial model” he smoothly said while holding my hands. “do you think I am qualified for office works?”  I asked him. “silly you! Of course, you are the most beautiful and talented person I know. I would really glad if we work on the same company. I barely knew anyone here you know I could use some company, and one more thing the pay in this company for their employee is really really great!” he said excitedly. My mind was still deciding whether to agree with him or not. A stable job means me, not worrying if I meet my bills and needs in every end of the month, but I get to tie myself for fix time every day. This will be a major change on my part but since my bestfriend was here with me so maybe I’ll be alright and I will certainly be used to it. I haven’t replied and agreed to him but he suddenly got up and told me  “ I’ll actually refer you to someone I know here, just wait for me here and I’ll talk to him okay?”  and he stormed out of the door and disappeared from my sight. I got up, waited for him in the lobby right in front of this room, my eyes was wondering around when the elevator on my right side opened and I’m not exaggerating when I saw a goddess came out. She was wearing a black trouser that emphasizes her long legs, a button up white long sleeves that is open just right on her chest. Her short black hair that stops on her on her shoulders, her perfectly shaped jawline. I was in awe, she was like a victoria’s secret angel. She entered the room where Marco entered. Just when I can’t see her, Marco came out with the biggest smile he can ever do. “you will be working here babe! I secured you the position”  he said while hugging me. I was so speechless but what can I say, I got the most unexpected job!
