(JENNIE)
Pacing back and fourth in the privacy of my room as thoughts from yesterday and what had happened between Lisa and I followed by my conversation with Shannon left me restless; honestly this whole situation was giving me anxiety.
What was I doing? There was no way on gods green earth that I would be able to get Lisa Manoban to fall in love me. I know this, I am not delusional. So why for sanity sake am I trying to do the inevitable? Maybe because part me believed that it wasn't quite impossible. I mean Lisa did open up to me a little about her relationship with her grandfather; something I'm sure not many knew.
But I would have to test this out right? I would have to find some casual way of contacting Lisa and getting together again. I could send a text? I mean something so trivial is somewhat meaningless, but what would I say? Hey? What's up?
God why am I over thinking this so much? Where is the drunk Jennie's confidence when I needed it? Plopping down on to my bed surrendering I threw my pillow over my face releasing a muffled scream of annoyance when I heard the loud sound of music coming outside.
My curiosity stuck me to where it maybe coming from as I was drawn to my window opening it to get a better listen at the direction of the loud music. What I saw next left me speechless as my hand covered my dropped mouth; it was Lisa, or more specifically Lisa in her bedroom.
How did I not know we lived this close to one another?
I stepped back from the open window not wanting to get caught as I felt my cheeks warm. What was it about Lisa that made me so sheepish? Again I took a quick look back out the window before retreating my prying eyes or at least trying to.
Her hair was wet and slicked back across her forehead as I could still see steam rolling off the freshly washed pink skin. She wore nothing but a sports bra, hiding her well developed breast and a towel wrapped around her hips. I should not be watching this let alone enjoying it.
Although this would give me a reason to call, right?
Grabbing my cell from my desk I hit Lisa's contact waiting for her answer. By the time I had returned to the window Lisa had removed her towel and stood in the center of her room wearing opened jeans that gave a seductive few of her hip bones that curve down to red underwear before turning around, her back now to me.
"Hello?" Her raspy voice answered picking up the ringing cell.
" You know, you should keep your blinds closed when changing." I spoke running my tongue along my lips.
"What?" Lisa laughed.
"Turn around."
Doing as instructed Lisa's mouth watering body once again came into my view as I graced her in the same action allowing myself to be seen from the window; a wicked smile peered across her lips.
"Looks whose perving now." Lisa spoke.
"Well you were giving quite as how."
"Like what you see?" Lisa's wicked grin grew larger.
"Come over." I spoke directly as my eyes locked with Lisa's from the distance.
"Hmm why?" Lisa asked.
"I'm bored."
"Well don't you have friends to call to fix that?" Lisa asked lifting a brow leaning over her open window pane.
"Stop the questions and come over LisBear." I demanded like a child putting a pout on my lips.
There was a small silence as the hum of the line was now and then interrupted by Lisa's breathing, her expression unreadable.
"Give me a minute." She finally spoke.
A smile plastered itself on my lips as I hung up the phone never taking my sight off the girl across the yard until she drew her curtains back.
Holding my cell phone in hand I looked over to the mirror double checking my outfit as I was still in my lay about clothing.
Going through my dresser I pulled out my gray and purple micro mini plaid skirt laying the fabric out on the bed. I thought about if Lisa had to wear something like that at private school, probably yes. Roaming through my closest I pulled out a white mock turtleneck tank and pulling out a touch I think Lisa would enjoy as I located my thick heel platform combat boots which would bring Lisa and I to eye level. Getting dressed I smiled at my reflection proudly running my fingers through my hair when I heard the doorbell ring causing my heart to flutter knowing who waited on the opposite side.
"Morning Amor." My mother called greeting from the kitchen
"Morning mama." I spoke heading towards the door trying to calm myself before opening it, "Hey."
"Hey." Lisa answered smiling as I greeted her.
"You look nice." I spoke feeling stupid for the idle small talk while I took in Lisa's choice of outfit, or lack of as she still wore the dark blue low rise jeans and a gray sports bra with a blazer over her shoulder and her her hair still a bit wet rolled off her shoulders in waves.
"As do you. Trying to work that school girl look to appease me?" Lisa joked with a raised eyebrow.
"Why? Is that a fantasy of yours; Ms. Manoban?" I replied with a low purr in my voice playing with the open sides of her coat. Where the hell did that come? I thought to myself surprised at my recent behavior since being exposed to Lisa's influence. I was never like this with anyone.
"Jennie who is it?" My mother addressed appearing from around the corner.
"Good morning Mrs. Kim." Lisa spoke with a brilliant smile curling at her lips.
"Good morning, Lisa. Nice to see you again."My mother smiled.
"Always a pleasure." Lisa spoke nodding.
"So, What mischief do we have planned today?" I asked looking at Lisa getting a shocked confused expression from my mother let alone from Lara as well.
" Well the Strawberry Festival is a few minutes out towards Marysville. Wanna loiter around there?" Lisa answered with a shrug not really having a plan.
"Definitely. Mom, may I?" I asked out of reflex forgetting at times that I am 18 and lawfully an adult.
"Of course. Have fun and stay out of trouble." My mother answered sternly.
"Don't worry Mrs. Kim I'll keep her out of trouble." Lisa winked causing me to practically laugh out hysterically at her comedic response.
Before Lisa and I were able to leave my mother informed us that she wouldn't be home but she would leave money on the counter for pizza or whatever I wanted to order. Finally being able to breach out of my home and hit the road.
"So what do they have at this strawberry festival?" I asked
" A lot I suppose. Food, games, rides. Basically a carnival." Lisa shrugged with her attention still on the road.
"You going to win me a giant teddy bear?" I laughed nudging Lisa's shoulder.
"Why would I do that?" Lisa chuckled with a grin on her lips.
"So you can show off." I smiled.
"Why waste money on a bear I could go to the store and buy?" Lisa asked.
"True. But please? Pretty please LisBear." I asked in a childish tone sticking out my bottom lip as I pouted.
"You keep that up I'll be tempted to bite that lip of yours." Lisa teased sending a tighten sensation in my womb when her gaze went from my lips to my eyes.
What should I do? Should I flirt back?I mean we have developed a weird kind of back and fourth with a questionable humor.
"Seems like a win-win either way for me." I whispered in Lisa's ear once we approached an oncoming red light. I felt Lisa's shoulder tense and swear I spied goosebumps forming.
"Are you always like this or am I just special?" Lisa asked. I could hear the lump in her throat hitch at her words.
"Guess you'll have to find out."I chuckled.
"You really are something elseKitten." Lisa sighed.
"Thank you."
The car ride from that point on was dead when it came to conversation as music filled the void. I don't know what it was about driving that was so peaceful; especially when it came to being with Lisa and the silence was comfortable. Finally we arrived in Marysville and there was so much that was going on causing my eyes to look in every direction; I must have looked like an overly excited child.
"Holy wow... I can't believe I've never been here before." I spoke walking besides Lisa who didn't seem to share my excitement.
"It's alright."
"What's up with you?" I asked wanting to know what was with Lisa' s change of mood.
"What do you mean?" She replied with still walking.
"I mean what bug crawled up your ass and died?" I ask stepping in front of her placing a hand above Lisa's chest.
"Nothing. Why do you even care if I'm in a sour mood?" Lisa asked.
"Because I do. Where did you go yesterday after our; morning." I replied coming to a halt in my words not really sure what to call yesterday. Even though Rosé addressed it as a date was it? Was our breakfast the other morning a date? Was this a date.
"Nowhere." Lisa answered.
"Bull. Spill." I asked crossing my arms under my chest.
Lisa huffed rolling her eyes saying nothing as she walked around me towards vendors getting further and further away. "Hey!" I yelled grabbing her shoulders causing her to stop.
"You're like a tick! What do you want?" Lisa spoke aggregated.
"For you to open up."
"You have a better chance at seeing god." Lisa spat.
"Then why bring me here if you're only wasting mine and your time?" I asked wanting some kind of answer.
"You're the one who wanted me to come over; remember?" Lisa replied.
"Yeah so we could talk. Get to know each a bit more like we did yesterday on our date." I spoke not processing what I had just said til it was too late. s**t.
"First of all yesterday wasn't a date and neither is this so don't get all delusional with the possibly that I might like you. What happened was an apology for what I walked in on and fighting with you after. Now please before we cause an unnecessary scene can we just enjoy this... whatever it is." Lisa spoke with heated words and I could almost feel something in my heartbreak.
Turning around I took a deep breath trying not to let my emotions get the best of me as I so desperately urged to slap Lisa across her face taking a few steps away; once I composed myself I brought myself to her eyes but purposely walked into Lisa, "oh I'm so sorry. I'm such a klutz at times."
"What are you doing?" Lisa asked seeming confused.
"Starting over." I whispered with a wink.
"Ah. No; it's no problem. But do I know you? You seem familiar." Lisa smiled playing along
"Maybe." I shrugged with a smile stepping closer.
"Doubt it; Think I would recognize an angel if I was blessed by one before." Lisa spoke with a smudge expression on her face.
"Maybe I'm no angel."
"Then who are you?" Lisa whispered stepping towards me.
"I'm Jennie. Jennie Kim. You are?" I told her.
"Lisa. Now can we finish this foolishness and enjoy the festival?" Lisa chuckled motioning towards everything.
"Sure. You know Lisa, I might be able to change you yet." I giggled pushing her shoulder slightly.
"Is that so?"
"Yep. Think in time I might just succeed in melting that cold heart of yours." I smiled gazing deep into her eyes feeling almost breathless at the clear Caribbean blue they seemed to be.
"Then I will wish you luck. No one's been able to thus far."
"Thank you. Now let's stop wasting our time and have fun." I spoke linking my arm with hers and tugging her towards everything.
As the day progressed and Lisa's mood seemed to have, she became well less bitchy and actually a bit fun after we had gotten some food into her stomach; which explained her crabbiness. I mean I did practically rush Lisa out of her home before letting her eat anything.
Speaking of food Lisa had made it her mission to try at least one thing from every food vendor here from tamales and burgers to Nacho's and pizza finally finishing with strawberry short cake top with ice cream; I swear Lisa was trying to make me fat.
Continuing to walk around the festivities I felt myself growing some sort of way towards Lisa as I had a sneaking suspicion that hopeful it was the same as Lisa seemed to have had no issue's with letting me curl up to her side, I started to feel restless leaning my head on her shoulder cuddling up with the small teddy bear she had won me from the water target game after finally surrendering to my insistent pleading.
"Having fun?" I asked looking up towards Lisa as we sat on a patch of grass near a picnic area allowing our legs to rest.
"Surprising yes. I haven't had this much fun in what feels like a long time." Lisa sighed as her sight was on everyone else in the park.
"What can I say I'm good company." I shrugged laughing a bit at my diva moment.
"So full of it aren't you Kitten." Lisa laughed.
"Not really. From previous moments you have seen that I'm not so confident." I replied lowering my voice.
"You have your moments." Lisa spoke reassuringly as I felt her fingers twitch next to my hand that rested beside hers lazily. Was her internal reaction to hold my hand?
I felt a slight blush warm my cheek sat the idea that Lisa was fighting back certain instincts; not wanting to give up her "bad girl" image. Was letting someone get close to her honestly that big of an issue for Lisa? I pondered that thought I felt my eyes starting to shut as a yawn escaped past my lips as I covered my mouth.
"Getting tired?" Lisa spoke.
"Yeah." I nodded sitting up.
"Better get going then. Come on let's grab some coffee and donuts for the road." Lisa spoke standing up and offering a helpful hand.
"You're trying to make me fat aren't you Manoban?" I glared laughing.
"Well who doesn't like a curvy girl?" She replied.
I rolled my eyes not having any words to exchange to the remark as we started walking to one of the food trucks that was disrupting the sweet guilty pleasured balls of honey and sugar glazed dough and fresh brewed coffee.
Paying for our treats, heading towards the parking lot both mine and Lisa's attention was caught by the sound of a little girl who seemed distraught as her mother tried to calm her; our sights locking, it wasn't til we grew closer that Lisa and I noticed that the child was crying over a snow cone that she must have dropped.
"May I?" Lisa asked looking at me pointing to the bear placing the coffee and donuts on a near by car hood.
"Sure." I asked once understanding Lisa's intention to give the child the stuff bear to calm her and help the struggling mother. I felt my heart warm at the simple and sweet gesture as Lisa approached the mother and child getting to the young girls eye level and saying soothing words in order to dry the wet teary eyes of the girl before presenting the bear causing an infectious smile to the little one's lips.
This only seemed to proved even more evidence that just because a heart is broken doesn't mean it ever stops beating; wanting to preserve the moment I quickly took my cell out taking a picture of Lisa smoothing the child's hair who gripped lovingly at the stuff toy as the mother thanked her before walkin g off.
"Is there anything you can't do?" I asked with a bright smile on my face as I looked adoringly at the taller girl.
"I'm sure there are things I can't do but that doesn't mean I won't try them." Lisa answered turning her sight to me wrapping a hand around my waist.
"Well looks like we'll have to test your limits then won't we?" I spoke.
"Is that an invitation to something?" Lisa smirked liking the idea of where her mind was taking this; even though I was smart enough to not get involved with Lara that way; well, not yet, not so quickly.
"Ms. Manoban; I think you need to tone down that naughty attitude." I winked.
"Oh I have to? Surely that wink was anything but innocent." Lisa laughed wrapping her arms about my waist.
"What wink? I didn't do anything." I replied grinning wildly taking my lip in with my teeth.
"Oh my god. You're turned on right now aren't you?" Lisa stated boldly practically yelling while laughing.
"You don't need to announce it you know!" I gasp slapping her shoulder as my cheeks started to blush.
"We can go somewhere private." Lisa whispered as she tightened her grip on my waist pulling me a bit closer to her, enclosing the space between us causing a lump to form in my throat. Was she going to kiss me? More importantly was I going to let her?
"Li... Lisa." I stuttered taking in a big gulp of air.
"Yeah?" She answered softly her thumb underlining my lower lips.
"You're cell is vibrating." I spoke pushing her a bit back as the vibration hummed from her front pocket and along my jeans.
Rolling her eyes in annoyance Lisa dispatched the device from her pocket looking at it as she opened the text.
"It's Bambam. He wants me to swing by and chill. Guess I'll drop you off." Lisa spoke not seeming interested.
"No. I wanna go." I spoke grabbing our things and heading towards the car.
