Prologue

She hates me. She absolutely hates me. Her words of rejection were like a red-hot knife into my heart. The look in her eyes was that of sheer hate and disgust. But there was also a hint of pain. Was it because she did not wish to reject me? Or is there something else? Either way, her painful words rang over and over again in my head like a bell. My wolf is howling in distress. He is crying as I am. I have never shed a tear over a woman before. Now I am, and it is because of a woman I don't even know. The only thing I do know is she is my mate. She is my mate and I want her. I crave her. "She is a human, Raven. There has never been a human Luna in Silver Blood, ever. We cannot start now." my father babbled on. "Alpha Roman of Black River has a human mate." I rebuttled. "Luna Symone is no ordinary human being. She was blessed with the power of the Moon Goddess. This Alondra woman is a typical human. She has nothing to offer you or this pack, son. Just let it go. Let her go." "I do not care one bit that she is human. She is my mate and I want her!" But she doesn't want me. Why was there so much hatred and sorrow in her eyes? Who hurt her? I will kill them! All I want to do is protect her. All I want to do is keep her safe, to keep a smile on that beautiful face of hers. But she won't let me close enough to even try. "Alondra," my wolf howls over and over again in my mind. I can't get the vision of her blue and brown eyes out of my mind. So unique. The feeling of her soft, sun-kissed brown skin in my hands as I held her close to me. Her sweet scent of waterlilies was beyond intoxicating. All I want is her. Nothing and no one else will do. I am Alpha Raven Silver of the Silver Blood Pack. I take what I want when I want it, and no one can tell me no. I have women fawning all over me daily. They all beg for the opportunity to be my woman, my Luna. While some of them have been great for a quick roll in the sack, none of them could possibly be good enough to rule by my side as Luna. I began to wonder if any woman would be good enough for the role, that is, until I came across my fated mate. She is truly a vision. I have never laid eyes on a more enchanting woman in all my life. I walked up to her, almost in a trance. She stood still, her eyes wide as they stay glued to mine. I could hear her heart thumping hard in her beautiful chest. I placed both hands on her arms and pulled her closer to me. Her breath hitched at the contact, as did mine. I leaned in to kiss her flawless cherry-red lips. However, before I could reach them, she ripped away from me and shoved me back. "What are you-" "I, Alondra Darkmoon, hereby reject you, Alpha Raven, as my mate. I want absolutely nothing to do with you. Do you understand that? NOTHING!"
